Incantamenti e risveglio. Opere grafiche di Giancarlo Consonni

    No full text
The article explores the graphic works of Giancarlo Consonni, focusing on two of his recent publications: Incantamenti 1991-1998and Apparenze e graffiti 1982-2001.It examines how Consonni’s works capture the viewer’s imagination through their delicate interplay of forms and colors, encouraging a phenomenological engagement with the artwork. The article draws connections between Consonni’s approach and philosophical concepts from Jean-Luc Marion and Ludwig Wittgenstein, emphasizing the transformative power of art to awaken a sense of wonder and meaning

Fandom politici e social media l’affettività nella fase preelettorale

    No full text
This article analyses political fandom in Italy through the cases of Giorgia Meloni, Giuseppe Conte, Elly Schlein, and Matteo Salvini. Based on 7,622 social media posts from April to June 2024 (during the Italian campaign for the European elections), the study examines affective expressions toward leaders to assess whether they reflect structured fandoms, spontaneous participation, or orchestrated strategies. It focuses on the strategic use of emotions during the electoral campaign. Using a mixed-methods approach, the article offers an interpretive lens on emerging forms of political participation in today’s digital ecosystem

L’occasione di Sesto San Giovani/The opportunity of Sesto San Giovanni

    No full text

Invited Discussion of the paper On a Class of Objective Priors from Scoring Rules by by Leisen, F., Villa, C., Walker, S. G whose abstract is reorted below. Objective prior distributions represent an important tool that allows one to have the advantages of using a Bayesian framework even when information about the parameters of a model is not available. The usual objective approaches work off the chosen statistical model and in the majority of cases the resulting prior is improper, which can pose limitations to a practical implementation, even when the complexity of the model is moderate. In this paper we propose to take a novel look at the construction of objective prior distributions, where the connection with a chosen sampling distribution model is removed. We explore the notion of defining objective prior distributions which allow one to have some degree of flexibility, in particular in exhibiting some desirable features, such as being proper, or log-concave, convex etc. The basic tool we use are proper scoring rules and the main result is a class of objective prior distributions that can be employed in scenarios where the usual model based priors fail, such as mixture models and model selection via Bayes factors. In addition, we show that the proposed class of priors is the result of minimising the information it contains, providing solid interpretation to the method

The Italian Research on the Molecular Characterization of Maize Kernel Development

The study of the genetic control of maize seed development and seed-related pathways has been one of the most important themes approached by the Italian scientific community. Maize has always attracted the interest of the Italian community of agricultural genetics since its beginning, as some of its founders based their research projects on and developed their “schools” by adopting maize as a reference species. Some of them spent periods in the United States, where maize was already becoming a model system, to receive their training. In this manuscript we illustrate the research work carried out in Italy by different groups that studied maize kernels and underline their contributions in elucidating fundamental aspects of caryopsis development through the characterization of maize mutants. Since the 1980s, most of the research projects aimed at the comprehension of the genetic control of seed development and the regulation of storage products’ biosyntheses and accumulation, and have been based on forward genetics approaches. We also document that for some decades, Italian groups, mainly based in Northern Italy, have contributed to improve the knowledge of maize genomics, and were both fundamental for further international studies focused on the correct differentiation and patterning of maize kernel compartments and strongly contributed to recent advances in maize research
