Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Préservation de l’espèce cameline dans le Sud-Est algérien - analyse de la situation actuelle de l’élevage dromadaire –
Get PDFL'objectif de la présente étude est de déterminer les mécanismes appliqués par les populations locales pour
préserver l’espèce cameline dans le Sud-Est algérien. Pour cela, on s’est concentrés dans cette étude sur trois
axes. Le premier axe comprend une enquête sur la composition et la structure des troupeaux camelins, un
inventaire socio-économique des éleveurs, ainsi qu'une évaluation des niveaux d'apport et des systèmes
d'approvisionnement alimentaire des dromadaires de la région. Dans cette optique, 42 élevages camelins,
comprenant 1 406 animaux, ont été choisis, représentant ainsi 2,57 % de la population totale de la région
étudiée. Ces exploitations sont réparties dans les quatre régions de la Wilaya d'El Oued, à savoir Mih Ouansa
(19), El Oued (11), Guemar (05) et Magrane (07), avec un taux d'échantillonnage d'environ 46 % du nombre
total estimé des troupeaux dans ces régions. L'étude de la hiérarchie d'âge des animaux a montré que les
chamelles adultes âgées de plus de 36 mois (52,76 %), suivies des femelles subadultes ; 16,79 % (24 à 36
mois) et 15,71 % (12 à 24 mois), enfin 11,74 % de femelles juvéniles (moins de 12 mois). La survie du
troupeau de dromadaire dépend exclusivement de l'approvisionnement gratuit en fourrage provenant des
pâturages naturels ; la complémentation alimentaire est occasionnelle et aléatoire, et dépend de la situation
financière des chameliers. Elle est largement fournie par l'État (2 kg d'orge/jour/chamelle adulte) sous forme
de subventions pendant la saison hivernale. Notre étude a révélé deux systèmes de production dans la région
d’étude, traduisant des vocations différentes, des modes d’occupation de l’espace et d’utilisation des parcours
camelins ; Système nomade non gardé / semi-gardé (69,05%), et Système d’élevage gardé (sédentaire ou semi
sédentaire) a vocation multiple (30,96%). Le deuxième axe de cette étude, on visait d'évaluer la capacité de
production laitière des chamelles représentatives de la population cameline dans cette région, ainsi que
d'analyser les variations de la composition physico-chimique du lait tout au long de la période de lactation. Au
cours des 12 mois de lactation, le volume de lait produit par les chamelles présentait un poids moyen de
2558,83 ± 480,25 kg. Selon nos résultats, les chamelles Sahraoui démontrent un excellent potentiel de
production laitière en termes de quantité et de qualité. Elles présentent des caractéristiques favorables telles
qu'une durée de lactation prolongée et des performances remarquables au pic de lactation. La production
moyenne quotidienne par chamelle était de 6,73 ± 1,22 kg. Nous avons observé que le taux moyen par
lactation de matières grasses (2,72 ± 0,63 %), matières protéiques (03,17 ± 0,15 %), pH moyen de 5,94 ± 0,07,
densité (1,0296 ± 1,0018), Solides Non Gras (SNF) par lactation était de 8,67 ± 0,39 %, et la teneur en lactose
moyenne (4,75 ± 0,22 %). Le troisième axe a examiné cinq modèles paramétriques différents (Wood, Dhanoa,
Wilmink, Guo & Swalve et Cappio) pour la modélisation de la courbe de lactation. Les modèles de Guo &
Swalve et Cappio ont été identifiés comme étant les plus adaptés pour ajuster les courbes de lactation, tant au
niveau global qu'individuel. Ces modèles présentent des paramètres moins corrélés et fournissent une
estimation plus précise du rendement laitier le long de la trajectoire de la courbe de lactation

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
