Elderly mobility in Italy: An interpretative Model
No full textElderly mobility has been often studied in Anglo-Saxon countries, where mobility rates
are traditionally higher than in Europe and Italy. But Europe (and especially Italy) has
now the most aged population in the world. And national and international flows are
going to different directions, compared to the past. Italy became a destination country
for young people coming from Africa and Eastern Europe (mainly looking for a job), but
also for elderly coming from Northern Europe and USA (looking for “amenity”). But still it
is dominant the return migration among the elderly. This paper tries to distinguish this
return migration from other types of elderly migrations, and to make hypotheses on the
elderly mobility in Italy at the beginning of the new century. Italy is, at the same time,
origin and destination of elderly mobility. Italy was in fact one of the main origin of
internal and international migration flows, now it is one of the main destination. It is
interesting to explore what happens to these flows at retirement age of migrants and to
see the “new” elderly mobility that is not “affected” by “return” migration. We especially
focus on amenity-seekers and on assistance-seekers elderly migrants. This study has
been done using register individual data (inscriptions/cancellations), the
origin/destination matrix approach, and a multilevel analysis. We selected the Genoa
Province, because is the biggest province of Liguria, the most aged region of Italy

No full textLe migrazioni interne sono state sempre messe in secondo piano rispetto a quelle internazionali a cui si è dedicata maggiore attenzione sia a livello politico sia a livello scientifico.
La mobilità interna è un fenomeno da non sottovalutare, soprattutto in Italia dove ha contribuito a ridistribuire della popolazione nelle diverse regioni.
La storia della mobilità interna è particolarmente importante a partire dagli anni ’60, soprattutto per i giovani che ricoprono un ruolo preminente in questo fenomeno.
Il lavoro fornisce quindi una storia della mobilità interna dei giovani con un focus sulla realtà più recente con un’analisi delle fonti e dei dati a nostra disposizione.
La mobilità interna, in particolare dei giovani, si presenta, quindi, come un fenomeno complesso il cui studio deve necessariamente basarsi su diverse fonti che spesso non riescono a fornire un quadro d’insieme di una realtà estremamente dinamica

No full textTenendo presente la natura interattiva e multidimensionale del processo di integrazione degli immigrati nella società di arrivo, in questo contributo si è cercato di indagare con i dati di censimento le dimensioni di ordine strutturale e socio-economico di tale fenomeno, aspetti che comunque sarebbero difficilmente investigabili su scala nazionale attraverso dati di altre fonti. L'analisi descrittiva viene condotta utilizzando come categoria interpretativa fondamentale la distinzione tra stranieri e acquisiti e, nell'ambito dei primi, facendo ricorso ad un'ulteriore articolazione tra nati in Italia e nati all'estero, distinguendo questi ultimi per durata della presenza. La condizione familiare, la situazione abitativa e l'inserimento lavorativo vengono esaminati attraverso indicatori elementari costruiti distintamente per nazionalità, nonché facendo ricorso a tecniche di analisi multi-dimensionale dei dati. Alcuni dei risultati emersi stimolano ulteriori quesiti o comunque evidenziano quanto sia difficile pervenire ad un quadro d'insieme univoco. In particolare, c'è da chiedersi se il netto vantaggio in termini di integrazione rilevato per gli acquisiti sia da interpretare come l'esito di un processo di integrazione ben riuscito o sia invece connesso alle difficoltà di acquisizione della cittadinanza nel contesto italiano. Inoltre, non sempre la stabilizzazione della presenza si coniuga con il conseguimento di migliori condizioni di vita e di lavoro. Ciò vale anche con riferimento ai diversi aspetti di una stessa dimensione: la stabilità lavorativa, ad esempio, si pone spesso in alternativa ad un'occupazione adeguata al proprio titolo di studio
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
