Simulation of ESD Immunity Test by a Software Tool Based on the Finite Integration Technique
Filter and Grounding Solutions for Limiting Radiated Emission of a PCB with an Attached UTP Cable
This paper provides a methodological approach for predicting the radiated emission from a PCB with an attached UTP cable, supported by simulations. First, the sources of emission are analyzed and simple equivalent circuits for SPICE simulations are provided. The concept of filtering and grounding for emission reduction are introduced and a discussion on how to use them in practice is provided. Second, 3D numerical software is used to quantify the effectiveness of several fixes for an isolated PCB located in a metallic enclosure or with a chassis
Circuital and numerical modeling of electrostatic discharge generators
The paper provides two accurate and efficient models of electrostatic discharge (ESD) generators which permit to reproduce the discharge current in the contact mode taking into account the load effect. The first model is based on a circuit approach and is suitable to be implemented in any commercial circuit simulator. The second model is based on the numerical solution of the field equations by using the commercial numerical code microwave studio (MWS) based on the finite integration technique. The validation of the proposed circuit and numerical models is carried out by comparison with measurements
Interference in Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables Due to ESD
Interference produced by ESD events in UTP cables is investigated. Typical installation setup of UTP cables connecting differential driver and receiver both placed in shielded enclosures is considered. Experimental results of common and differential interferences obtained adopting different discharge points are presented. Moreover, a suitable full wave model to predict common mode interference is developed by using the commercial software tool Microwave Studio based on the finite integration technique. In the proposed full-wave approach, the ESD generator is simulated by an advanced model which permits to reproduce the discharge current in the contact mode taking into account the load effect. The validation of the proposed numerical prediction model is carried out by comparison with measurements
A New Proposal for the Uncertainty Evaluation and Reduction in Air Electrostatic Discharge Tests
The technique used in air electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity tests to approach the generator tip to the equipment under test is here dealt with. Specifically, the uncertainty contribution associated to the measurement technique is analyzed in depth. To this aim, a number of simulations and experiments are carried out by means of a proper test bed, which includes a purposely-developed slide system. Through this system, the effects of different "type A" uncertainty contributions are compared and the ESD repeatability is assessed. Taking into account the "type B" uncertainty contribution too, the purpose of the work is to provide an original and efficient proposal for improving the uncertainty evaluation in air ESD tests

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
