Script Training Using Telepractice with Two Adults With Chronic Non-fluent Aphasia
Two male participants with chronic (> 2 years), non-fluent aphasia and their family members participated in script training using videoconferencing. Functional scripts were developed by people with aphasia (PWA) and their family members. Accuracy of scripts was measured by total target words produced per turn. Participant 1 with Broca’s aphasia produced scripts with 0% accuracy pre-treatment and 87.5% accuracy post-treatment. Participant 2 with Transcortical Motor aphasia produced scripts with 20.2% accuracy pre-treatment and 63.5% accuracy post-treatment. Pre- and post-questionnaires for communication effectiveness and the use of telepractice for speech therapy indicated improvements in answering yes/no questions, participating in conversations with strangers, and increasing confidence and satisfaction with technology delivered treatment. The use of videoconferencing to deliver script training appears beneficial for individuals with chronic aphasia
New Aspects of Thromboangiitis obliterans (von Winiwarter-Buerger's Disease)
The existence of thromboangiitis obliterans as a clinical entity has been a matter of debate for many years. In contrast to other immunovasculitides there is no organ involvement while peripheral vessels are affected. Heavy smokers under 40 years of age have a high predisposition for the disease. The cerebral form shows relapsing brain infarctions which can be visualized in CCT while panarteriography remains negative. Apart from unspecific inflammatory signs in blood and CSF there are distinctive laboratory findings proving the autoimmunological character of von Winiwarter-Buerger's disease. In the serum anti-elastin antibodies, IgE and anticollagen antibody activity are detectable. In 3 patients the authors detected specific immunohistochemical findings in a biopsy specimen of the temporal artery. In addition to platelet-inhibiting substances corticoids in acute and azathioprine in chronic treatment becomes necessary

Ratio estimators for the population variance in simple and stratified random sampling
We propose some ratio-type variance estimators using ratio estimators for the population mean in literature. We obtain mean square error (MSE) equations of proposed estimators and show that proposed estimators are more efficient than the traditional ratio estimator, suggested by [C.T. Isaki, Variance estimation using auxiliary information, Journal of the American Statistical Association 78 (1983) 117-123], under certain conditions. We also adapt the proposed estimators in the simple random sampling to the stratified random sampling. In addition, we support the theoretical results with the aid of numerical examples. Barcelona: la ciudad en transformación y el cine de lo real.
This article is based on the PhD thesis presented by the author in the Universidad Rovira i Virgili, with the title: Mirar la realidad: una aproximación al Máster en Documental de Creación de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra,de Barcelona (1997-2009), directed by Drs. J.C. Suárez Fernández and A. Martínez Herranz. It explains how Barcelona and its transformation have appeared in several documentaries in the last ten years, most of them made by filmmakers who have studied or taught in Máster de Documental de Creación , in Pompeu Fabra University. It speaks also of the citys museums and cultural institutions interest in cinema, in the cinema of the real, above all, which means the city itself is generating this interest. The approach to the work of some filmmakers, such as Isaki Lacuesta or José Luis Guerin, shows how this new cinema is very present in the citys museums, in some creative and different ways that follow what other Spanish filmmakers Basilio Martin Patino had already tried a little earlier, but also try new other forms of creation, much nearer to other European creative proposals.
