Introduzione. Identità e variazione nell'universo mediale di Lynch.
Tutti conoscono almeno uno dei film di David Lynch, a partire da Eraserhead (1977), The Elephant Men (1980) e Dune (1984), passando per Velluto blu (1986), Cuore selvaggio (1990), e Strade perdute (1997), per arrivare a Una storia vera (1999), Mullholland Drive (2001), L’impero della mente (2006). Per non parlare della serie televisiva Twin Peaks (1990/91 e 2017), fenomeno di culto planetario, che Lynch ha scritto con Mark Frost e che viene considerata da critici e studiosi dei media un vero e proprio apripista della serialità contemporanea . In un libro dedicato a Lynch è d’obbligo soffermarsi sulla sua produzione filmica e televisiva, e in questo volume lo faremo evidenziando aspetti specifici, come il tema dell’identità, il ruolo del sonoro o la relazione con la pittura. Abbiamo però voluto evidenziare anche altri ambiti della sua produzione artistica. Si tratta di cortometraggi, documentari, spot televisivi e promozioni pubblicitarie, videoclip, oltre a mostre di quadri, foto e sculture, musica e così via: una produzione che permea tutta la vita artistica di Lynch
William C. Bianchi Collection
Willibald C. Bianchi (1915-1945) a native of New Ulm, Minnesota, and a 1940 graduate of South Dakota State University. He was commissioned in 1940 and joined the 45th Infantry Regiment of the Philippine Scouts in 1941. For his actions during the Battle of Bataan, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1942. He was promoted to Captain and returned to battle only to be captured by the Japanese on April 9, 1942. He spent over two years in multiple prison camps before dying on an unmarked prison ship after it was bombed by an American airplane on January 9, 1945.
The collection contains information regarding the Willibald C. Bianchi Memorial scholarship, ceremony, and plaque at South Dakota State University. The records also include news clippings, remembrances, and a photocopy of the Congressional Medal of Honor certificate. In addition, there are photocopies of letters from Bianchi to his family while he was stationed in the Philippines and as a prisoner of war

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. A molybdenum metallorganic complex: an XPS investigation to confirm its identity
The oxo-diperoxo complex of molybdenum (VI), Mo(O)(O2)2(HMPA) a, (H2O) reacts with CIC6H4CH2NH2 to give the cis-dioxoperoxo complex Mo(O)2(O2)(ClC6H4CH 2NH2)2 b. The amorphous complex b has been fully characterized by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, IR, Raman spectroscopy, conductivity, EPR and NMR measurements, and XPS analyses. The results lead to the conclusion that the compound b is an octahedral complex of molybdenum (VI) bearings two oxo-oxygens, a side-on peroxo ligand and two cis-amine ligands
