Il ruolo del cibo nello scenario contemporaneo fra pratiche alimentari, formazione ed educazione
No full textIl presente saggio affronta il tema del rapporto pratiche alimentari e relazioni sociali individuando tre principali ambiti tematici entro i quali gli autori del volume di cui fa parte il contributo hanno esposto diffusamente le loro argomentazioni.
Il primo ambito tematico riguarda lo studio delle pratiche alimentari tout court, intese come «modi di azione e comportamenti» vincolati e vincolanti rispetto alla società di riferimento e al suo proprio sistema.
Il secondo ambito tematico riconduce all’analisi dell’offerta formativa di livello universitario e delle metodologie didattiche innovative elaborate in risposta alla sempre maggiore attenzione nei confronti del cibo e dell’alimentazione, da cui derivano nuovi profili professionali che in parte sono anche l’esito di un nuovo rapporto che va configurandosi tra atenei e territori.
Il terzo ambito tematico va infine individuato nello studio delle funzioni educative che il cibo può assumere e che diverse istituzioni sociali, in particolare quelle scolastiche, di conseguenza assolvono: il riferimento è all’offerta del servizio di refezione e alle questioni di carattere strettamente sociologico che ne derivano

No full textIl presente saggio, attraverso una disanima delle principali ricerche sociologiche sul tema, cerca di rispondere ai seguenti quesiti: che ruolo ha assunto il cibo e quali direzioni ha preso il suo relativo consumo? Le contraddizioni e i principali paradossi che caratterizzano le attuali pratiche alimentari continueranno a caratterizzare il rapporto fra queste e le relazioni sociali anche nel futuro?
Certamente sembra rafforzarsi e continuare a svilupparsi un’ottica di integrazione fra aspetti funzionali, emozionali, simbolici insieme a quelli della salute e del benessere che di volta in volta, e sempre più spesso congiuntamente, vengono attribuiti al cibo. Al contempo deve però potere essere conservato anche il bisogno di radici, di localizzazione, di convivialità, di sollievo dall’ansia e di rassicurazione. È proprio in questo momento di estrema complessità che il consumo di cibo si esprime come esperienza culturale a forte rilevanza sociale, che va costantemente monitorata e ripensata spostando il focus dal “cosa” al “come” si mangia: al valore che si attribuisce all’alimentazione e al peso che ha nella vita personale e sociale degli individui. Certo risulta chiaro che il rapporto pratiche alimentari e relazioni sociali si può tranquillamente considerare uno dei luoghi privilegiati di lettura dei mutamenti sociali. In tal senso le descrizioni e interpretazioni del fenomeno che ci possono offrire le diverse scienze umane, fra le quali la sociologia, vanno ribadite e accentuate nella loro importanza, in quanto letture scientifiche che, sempre più spesso intraprendendo un dialogo in un’ottica interdisciplinare, cercano di mettere ordine nella “reale” esperienza di vita quotidiana
Pratiche alimentari e relazioni sociali
No full textIl volume tratta in una prospettiva multidisciplinare il tema delle pratiche alimentari collocandolo nello scenario della polarizzazione delle disuguaglianze incentrata sul binomio sovra/sottoalimentazione che contraddistingue l’età contemporanea. L'intersezione di tali prospettive fa emergere, da un lato la perdurante attualità dei dibattiti tardo settecenteschi e ottocenteschi sulla connessione tra disponibilità di risorse e gestione dei poveri; dall'altro lato gli usi contemporanei, tradizionali e che il mutamento lascia intravvedere, dei significati attraverso cui gli attori sociali connettono la funzione “naturale” dell’alimentazione alla dimensione culturale e relazionale, marcandone un carattere identitario.
Nella seconda parte l’erogazione del servizio di ristorazione scolastica si delinea come studio di caso mediante la ricostruzione degli esiti di alcune decisioni giurisprudenziali dedicate al diritto di autodeterminazione alle scelte alimentari alternative, la qualificazione delle tariffe che fanno carico alle famiglie e la rielaborazione critica delle tecniche valutative utilizzate in alcune esperienze locali.
Il volume è strutturato in modo da sollecitare anche l’interesse di una platea di lettori non specialisti delle discipline accademiche che qui hanno messo a disposizione le loro prospettive su un tema conosciuto, ma multiforme, la cui analisi ha spesso risentito di impostazioni ideologiche
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
