No full textEconomic and political importance of the People’s Republics in Eastern UkraineAt the end of the 20th as well as the beginning of the 21st century, a series of armedconfl icts took place in Eastern Europe. The Russian Federation participated or supported one of the parties in almost every confl ict in this region. The author presents the arguments in favor of the thesis that such Russia’s actions are not of an economic but a political nature. The goal of such actions is the realisation of Russia’s desire to strengthen its political position in the neighboring countries, using tools which are unacceptable in the majority of countries in the world. The main aim of this article is to analyze the economic of the Eastern regions of Ukraine, especially the territories covered by the military confl ict. The author presents the economic importance of these regions for the economy of Ukraine through the analysis of the main macroeconomic indicators and government expenditures aimed at the development of this region. No full textPerspectives of cooperation between Poland and UkraineThis article presents the dynamics of development of the Ukrainian-Polish bilateral relations from the beginning of the 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century and defines their political component, formulates the role of Poland in the foreign policy of Ukraine, analyzes the impact of enlargement processes of NATO and the EU on the dynamics and prospects of the dialogue between Ukraine and Poland. The author tries to explain the significance of the Ukrainian-Polish relations for the support of regional and European security and to investigate the influence of leading states of the West and Russia on the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations and to define their role and importance. Special attention is paid to therole of Poland in resolving the political and economic crisis in Ukraine, which began in November 2013, after the refusal of government of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to sign the Association Agreement with the EU. Challenges of the Ukrainian pension system under martial law
No full textThe relevance of the research is due to the challenges faced by the Ukrainian pension system under martial law. The economic consequences of the war, a decrease in the number of contributors, mass migration and increased defence spending have complicated the functioning of the system. The purpose of the article is to define the main problems of the pension system under martial law and to find ways to solve them, taking into account the prospects for Ukraine’s recovery after the war. The article uses a comprehensive approach to analysis: regulatory and legal analysis, comparative method, analysis of statistical data. The sources of the research are the legislative acts of Ukraine, data of the Pension Fund of Ukraine and scientific publications. The main results of the research include the identification of problems of financial sustainability of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, provision of payments in the temporarily occupied territories, indexation of pensions and implementation of the funded system. The issues of social protection of the military and guarantees for pensioners abroad are highlighted. The author proposes measures to attract international financial assistance, expand digitalisation, support employers in implementing pension programmes and stimulate voluntary contributions from citizens. The article is aimed at further development of the pension system of Ukraine in the context of growing demographic and financial challenges

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Romania and Ukraine recorded the largest growth in 2009 in the post-global financial recession period. Hungary, Poland, Belarus, Czech Republic and Bulgaria followed closely. Poland as one of the member states of the European Union is closely cooperating with the Eastern Partnership countries and the key to the development of this cooperation is the insurance of the proper functioning of the transport market. The aim of the article is to present the current logistics connections between Poland and Eastern Partnership countries and problems of logistics connections and as well as alternative connections that create more favorable conditions for the cooperation.
