Letter from P.E. Magennis to Hagan

    No full text
Fragment typescript letter with handwritten additions in ink from [P.E. Magennis], Collegio Internazionale del PP. Carmelitani, Via Sforza Pallavicini 10, Rome, to [Hagan]. Relating his diplomatic achievements, in a cryptic style, [concerning Archbishop Mannix], in his conversations with 'the Ex. Austral.' [Cerretti], who confirmed that 'the lads' [English] had been at it, and whom he tried to convince of the strength of the movement and of 'the final triumph': 'no man who had seen things at close quarters can [doubt the final]'. 'The little man' [the Pope] is very interested and would do according to suggestions in a recent document. [Magennis] has written to 'His of Adella' and to Signore Foli who at present is 'in Babylon'. He is satisfied with matters overall 'the move was an excellent one and not too hot to handle'. Hagan's presence will be as important as ever 'to resume operations on the home front'. He could not get the facts; asking to obtain the first letter sent to 'Adella' (end missing). (Date, author, addressee and names supplied from pencil annotations by [Curran].

Inter-vortex spacing in superfluid turbulence: temperature and Reynolds number dependences

    No full text
The typical spacing between superfluid vortices in an isothermal turbulent tangle is proportional to the integral scale H rescaled by the quantum Reynolds number Re_K=H.V/K to the power of 3/4, where K is the quantum of circulation around of single vortex [Salort et al.,EPL 2011]. This empirical relation can be seen as the quantum-turbulence version of the corresponding well-know equation giving Kolmogorov dissipative scale in classical turbulence. In 2014, we studied the temperature dependence of the numerical factor (d/H).Re_K^{3/4} in 4He by joint numerical and experimental analysis of steady state turbulence over a wide temperature interval (1.2 - 2.16 K) [Babuin et al., EPL 2014]. Agreement between the two analyses was found good except at the very ends of this temperature interval. We will discuss this issue by presenting additional experimental data obtained by post-processing of superfluid experiments published between 1975 and 1998

[[alternative]]Research on Practice Teachers’ Teaching Beliefs for High School Health & P.E

    No full text
[[abstract]]The purpose of the research was to explore and discuss the practice teachers’ teaching beliefs and their influential factors on high school health & P.E field. It’s primarily based on questionnaire survey and assisted by qualitative interview; among the 146 effective samples, which census was taken on the practice teachers of health and P.E. field at National Taiwan, Chung-hwa and Kaohsiung Normal University, and based on “practice teachers’ teaching beliefs research questionnaire on Health & P.E. field” to undertake collecting quantitative data and analyze by descriptive statistics, t-test and one-way ANOVA. Furthermore, qualitative interviews had also been done with four (4) practice teachers chosen by purposeful sampling method on the quantitative outcome. The prime findings of the research are as follows: 1. The practice teachers’ integral teaching beliefs were more inclined to progression. 2. The practice teachers owned better teaching beliefs on the category of “Learning Evaluation” and “ Teaching Objectives”; however, theirs are relatively low on the category of “ Classroom Management”. 3. There was significant difference between man and female practice teachers. Females’ are more inclined to progression than men’s, which could be traced to the hard-working characteristics of females’. 4. The significant difference aroused among practice teachers, who studied in various departments where they were completing educational credits. Those majored in Health related departments are more inclined to progression than those majored in Sports Contests departments. 5. There was not significant variance found for different highest academic background. 6. The teaching beliefs among the practice teachers, who studied educational courses at different normal universities, showed no significant variance; maybe it was because of close universities style. 7. It didn’t reach significant variance from practice teachers who were at different practice schools in different areas; no matter their practice schools were big or small; and no matter if he or she took the job of assistant-coach to the school sports team, their teaching beliefs hadn’t reached the significant variance, maybe the time of practicing hadn’t been long enough and its impact was limited. 8. The key elements to affect practice teachers’ teaching beliefs are summarized as listed: - personal characteristic - tutor at the practice school - own teachers - personal experience - teaching experience obtained at the practice school - students’ reaction key words: Health and Physical Education, practice teacher, teaching beliefs

Since 2003 the Chapter on Italian Copyright Law in the Treatise is written and updated every year by A. Musso (M. Fabiani had written it through 2002). As well as all the other national chapters (plus a chapter on European Law and a general Introduction), the "Italian" chapter deals with the Italian Law on Copyright and related rights, updated every year with all the relevant new provisions and the main decisions of higher and lower courts. In this 23rd release, a substantial and deeper review/update off all the issues related to copyright or related rights has been made by the Author, especially on links with international subject-matter (e.g. comparison of terms), on-line uses and possible infringement by Internet Service Providers (with changes in the main index, too). Due to the many entries in alphabetical order, every new release is divided in two papery volumes: the entry "Italy" is in Volume 2

[[alternative]]The professional performance of phyiscal education teacher was evaluated by principals in senior high school

[[abstract]]The purpose of this study was to understand that the professional performance of P.E. teacher was evaluated by 293 principals in senior high school in Taiwan. The questionnaire and interview which was to get more information about the evaluative result of professional performance in P.E. teacher by 3 principals of senior high school were be used. The average, t-test and topic analysis were be used to analyze it . The research results were in the following: (1) The principals of senior high school thought that the contents of professional performance in P.E. teacher have 4 factors, Administration, Teaching, Fitness, and Sport Safety, and 27 events. (2) The rankings of professional performance in P.E. teacher were Fitness, Administration, Sport Safety and Teaching which was the last one factor of evaluative result, and the possible reasons were that P.E. teacher didn’t do the teaching process very well, P.E. teaching was affected by subject matter and others, and the strategies of improvement which were to change the benefit of P.E. teacher and the environment of P.E. class, to construct the level of teachers, to focus on teacher educational process, and others .(3) The professional performance of P.E. teacher in public and private senior high schools has no significant different (p<.05).
