Gelber inició sus estudios a muy temprana edad con su madre y con su maestro Vicente Scaramuzza, dando su primer concierto a los 5 años. Continuó su actuación en la Argentina hasta los 19, realizando alrededor de 150 conciertos. En 1960 se trasladó a Europa, becado por el gobierno francés. Instalado en la ciudad universitaria de París, mereció el raro privilegio de ser aceptado como alumno particular de Marguerite Long. A raíz de su brillante actuación en el Concurso Long-Thibaud de 1961 comienza su carrera internacional. La crítica mundial sitúa unánimemente a Bruno Gelber dentro de los más destacados pianistas de la actualidad, habiendo realizado más de 1900 conciertos en 37 países diferentes
Portraits of Leonardo da Vinci
No full textUsing an iterative method, applied to image processing, a portrait of a young man, probably a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, is restored. Merging this portrait with the self-portrait in red chalk, we can have the features of a middle-aged Leonardo. This digital portrait can be compared with the image of Plato, depicted by Raphael in the Scuola di Atene, generally considered as a portrait of Leonardo. The iterative method used for the image processing had been developed by the author on previous iterative calculations used to solve the Boltzmann equatio

No full textHere is a surprising addition to the nice book of Leonardo's fables done by the same team in 1973. According to the flyleaf, with this edition, the collection of Leonardo is finished. I find a sometimes not very subtle distinction between the stories here and those in the original volume. These move out into the realm of the mythological and the mysterious and may frequently go beyond the realm of fable. The very title that specifies Tierfabeln, while legitimate in German, may point to a different reality here. Notice the number of fables about fantastic creatures: phoenix, basilisk twice, macli, cerasta, bonaso, jaculo, and two-headed snake. Some items flesh out a normal fable; Der Löwe und der Hahn (34) gives a good sense of why the lion might be afraid of the rooster. Perhaps my favorite in this set of stories is Grossmut (69), in which an eagle teaches her young that the head of a court has to feed those who pay him/her homage by making up the court. No full textIl volume presenta una visione sintetica e unitaria del Novecento europeo. Al centro dell’attenzione sono i processi economici, sociali, politici, culturali che hanno influenzato lo sviluppo storico generale del vecchio continente, inclusi i fattori di origine extraeuropea che si sono riverberati su di esso e le ripercussioni delle vicende europee nel resto del mondo. Lo sguardo si estende a tutto il continente, evitando punti di osservazione che ne restituiscano visioni solo parziali e incomplete. La storia dell’Europa è vista non come accostamento di tante storie nazionali giustapposte e parallele, ma come un processo che abbraccia lo spazio continentale nella sua interezza, in un continuo e reciproco condizionamento di svolgimenti nazionali e di fenomeni transnazionali. La narrazione è stata suddivisa in tre parti, ciascuna affidata a un autore diverso. A scandire la periodizzazione sono lo scoppio del secondo conflitto mondiale nel passaggio dalla prima alla seconda parte e la crisi degli anni Settanta nel passaggio alla terza. In appendice si offre una panoramica sui primi tempi dell’Europa post-novecentesca, fino al 2015.
Il libro è stato progettato in comune dal curatore, Leonardo Rapome, e dagli autori, che ne hanno anche esaminato e discusso assieme ogni sua parte. La responsabilità dell’opera è perciò collettiva, anche se la redazione delle singole parti è frutto di un lavoro individuale.
