    Apotetamenus clipeatus Bruner von Wattenwyl, 1888. (Plate 8) Apotetamenus politus (Bruner, 1915) n. syn. Redescription. Male. Head: Fastigium twice the width of the scape, eyes kidney-shaped. Frons slightly produced, clypeus triangular, labrum circular, shorter than the mandibles, maxillary palpus with apex slightly dilated. Frons with spot distribution similar to that described for A. gorochovi n. sp.; genae yellow. Thorax: Pronotum smooth covering the first tergite abdominal, posterior margin of the pronotal disc concave with humeral sinus obsolete, lateral margin with a yellow spot on the margin anterior. Prosternum armed. Mesosternum wider than long, constricted at the medial portion with a spine on each lobe, widely separated from each other. Metasternum with a broad medial incision, spines of the lateral lobes exposed in the ventral margin and close to each other, the space between concave. Fore legs. Base of the coxa armed with a spine, femur cylindrical unarmed; genicular lobes unarmed. Tibia with four spines on both sides of the ventral margin, dorsal surface with a single spine and three apical spines; tympanum open on both sides. Middle legs. Coxa with a blunt spine at the apex, femur unarmed, tibia with dorso-external margin with two spines and the dorso-internal margin with three; ventro-external margin with two spines and ventro-internal with four. Hind legs. Femur progressively thickened; genicular lobes unarmed. Abdomen. Tergites dark brown, pleurites and sternites light brown. Tenth tergite straight, lanceolate epiproct. Subgenital plate rectangular, without pseudo-styles, cerci cylindrical, tapering towards the apex. Female: Similar in shape like the male. Ovipositor curved and the margins unarmed. Subgenital plate concave without truncated apex. Variation. The coloration among the females varies from light brown to dark brown. The designation of A. politus as synonym of A. clipeatus is proposed because the type series is apparently lost, since it was not found where it was said to be deposited in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (CMNH), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Academy of Natural Sciences (ANSP), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Specimens were obtained from localities near the type and locality of A. politus n. syn. These specimens are all typical of A. clipeatus.     Uncovering the Range of Intentions and Interpretations Associated with N-Word Usage in American Film by Nneka Logan Under the Direction of Michael Bruner ABSTRACT This thesis is an analysis of contemporary N-word usage. Key points are that there is more than one N-word in circulation, and that “nigger,” the racial slur, is only one conception of the N-word. A second point is that “nigga” is a separate word with a separate scope of meaning. I also argue that usage of “nigga” is a complex communicative phenomenon that cannot be essentialized in terms of race, socioeconomic status and other social factors. I argue that contemporary N-word usage is not an exclusively black cultural endeavor, but in fact a multiracial phenomenon. To support my assertions I employ communication, race and N-word scholarship, and I apply the scholarship to the text of American film. A study of this kind is significant because increasing numbers of people are being exposed to the N-words in a variety of contexts, but many are unaware of their important semantic differences.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas IV SD N Cepit denganpenerapan Teori Bruner, dengan keberadaan benda konkret sebagai media menuju rangsangan pembentukan konsep pembelajaran matematika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), yang dilakukan secara kolaboratif antara peneliti bersama guru kelas. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IVB SD N Cepit yang berjumlah 24 siswa, sedangkan objek penelitiannya adalah hasil belajar siswa melalui teori Bruner. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui tes, observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan catatan lapangan. Validitas instrument yang digunakan adalah validitas isi (content validity). Teknik analisis data secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teori Bruner dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas IVB SD N Cepit. Teori Bruner yang terdiri tiga tahap yaitu enactive (adanya benda konkret), iconic (menggambar benda konkret) serta symbolic (menyatakan dalam simbol matematika) dengan menekankan keberadaan benda konkret, telah membantu siswa untuk memahami konsep matematika, khususnya dalam penelitian ini adalah pokok bahasan pecahan. Peningkatan hasil belajar dapa dilihat dari dua hal yaitu keberhasilan proses dan keberhasilan produk. Berdasarkan catatan lapangan dan pedoman observasi menunjukkan bahwa setelah pelaksanaan pembelajaran matematika melalui teori Bruner terjadi perubahan aktivitas belajar siswa serta aktivitas mengajar guru ke arah yang positij. Siswa semakin aktif dalam pembelajaran, demikian pula guru semakin kreatif dalam pembelajaran. Penilaian hasil belajar dilakukan melalui tes pada setiap akhir pembelajaran dan dilakukan tes akhir (post tes) di setiap akhir siklus. Nilai siswa sebelum dilakukan tindakan skor rata-rata kelas 5,4 dengan nilai tertinggi 7, terendah 4, dan belum ada siswa yang mencapai nilai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) yang diterapkan sekolah, yaitu > 7,5 atau sebanyak 75% dari jumlah siswa yang hadir mencapai KKM. Setelah dilakukan tindakan selama dua siklus, hasil belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan, yang dapat dilihat dari hasil post-test yaitu rata-rata kelas 8,72, nilai tertinggi 10, nilai terendah 5, dan sebanyak 21 siswa mencapai KKM atau sebesar 91,3% dari seluruh siswa yang hadi

    Euxiphidion Bruner, 1915 Figs. 1, 3D, E, 7D, E, 8D, E, 11K–M, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19D, E and 20 Euxiphidion differs frοm Conocephalus mainly by the surface οf face and legs being full οf little pits, lacking οf hind wings, cerci οf males with a prοjectiοn οnly at the tip, and dοrsal pοrtiοn οf the phallus being very slightly sclerοtized, and devοid οf sclerοtized titillatοrs and ventral sclerites. Euxiphidion includes besides the type species, E. subapterus, twο mοre species E. caizanum (Gigliο-Tοs) n. comb. and E. veroni Chamοrrο-Rengifο sp. nov. The type species differs frοm E. caizanum comb. nov. and frοm the new species by the very strοngly reduced tegmina, which are brοadly lοbate in bοth sexes, reaching the pοsteriοr margin οf the first abdοminal segment in male, and slightly surpassing the hind metanοtum in female (Bruner 1915). Nomenclatural note. The name οf the οriginally mοnοtypic genus Euxiphidion Bruner, 1915 refers tο the genus name Xiphidion Serville, 1831, with οriginal etymοlοgy: ξίφος, épée [French fοr swοrd, certainly relating tο the cοnspicuοus lοng οvipοsitοr οf females] and ίδιον, dimin. The suffix ‘–iοn’ denοtes a diminutive fοrm whοse gender is neuter, as indicated alsο by the cοrrespοndingly adapted suffixes οf Serville’s new cοmbinatiοns οf the twο included species: Xiphidion fuscum (Locusta fusca Fabricius, 1793) and X. fasciatum (L. fasciata De Geer, 1773). Accοrding tο its οriginal descriptiοn Euxiphidion is derived frοm the names Xiphidion and “ Odontoxiphidion ”. The οriginal and valid spelling οf the latter mοnοtypic genus is Odontoxiphidium Mοrse, 1901 (alsο neuter) and its type species is O. apterum Mοrse, 1901. Sο the name Euxiphidion is neuter as well. This means that the οriginal name οf its type species E. subapterus Bruner, 1915 is incοrrectly fοrmed. It refers tο the greatly reduced tegmina and is an adjective rather than a nοun in appοsitiοn, and as such needs tο agree in gender accοrding tο Article 31.2. οf the Internatiοnal Cοde οf Zοοlοgical Nοmenclature. Lalu teori dan materi tersebut diperoleh dari buku-buku, karya ilmiah, jurnal, internet dan sumber-sumber lainnya.Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah sumber-sumber  data menggunakan  sumber  sekunder.  Seperti  buku  yang  sesuai  dengan  topik  pembahasan  yang dibicarakan. Penelitian ini  dilatarbelakangi perbedaan pencapaian konsep belajar menurut Bruner dan David Ausubel, diharapkan setelah penelitian ini para pembaca dan pendidik bisa memperluas wawasan mereka mengenai pencapaian pembelajaran yang baik menurut Bruner dan David Ausubel. Bruner dan David Ausubel sama sama tokoh dalam toeri belajar kognitif namun mereka memiliki pemikiran yang berbeda terkait pencapaian belajar.  Menurut Bruner, manusia adalah sebagai pemroses, pemikir, dan pencipta informasi. Oleh karenanya, yang terpenting dalam belajar adalah cara-cara bagaimana seseorang memilih,  mempertahankan,  dan  mentransformasikan  informasi  yang  diterimanya secara aktif. Sedangkan dari sudut pandang David Ausubel memiliki pendapat yang bertentangan dengan Bruner, menurut  Ausubel,  pada  dasarnya  orang  memperoleh pengetahuan melalui penerimaan, bukan melalui penemuan.     A Multi-Language Comparison of Influences on Author Verification using Character N-Grams

    We create a new multi-language corpus for author verification based on Wikipedia talkpages, and evaluate the influence that differences in topic and time have on character n-gram author profiles.
