Abstract : This work seeks to uncover some of the history of the non-governmental organization "Catholics for a Free Choice" (in Portuguese, Católicas pelo Direito de Decidir, CDD). They are both subjects and speakers of a counter discourse presenting themselves as Catholic voices who disagree with the official and hegemonic discourse of the Catholic Church, established by a theological moral basis. It has its counterpoint at the construction of a feminist theology, which enables a theological thinking/doing in which other perceptions are possible regarding abortion, sexuality and reproduction, grounded at the principles of self-consciousness and autonomy to make free decisions. In Brazil and Latin America, the appearance of such groups is also noted through the establishment of a network between 1990 and 2010, Red Latino Americana de Católicas por El Derecho de Decidir. The present research presents an eventual relation between gender and religion, specifically among Official Catholic doctrine, sexuality and women's human rights, when speaking about abortion to the Cultural History field. This matter is analyzed through present time and gender issues aspects. The main goal of this analysis is to point out the existence of other ways of understanding sexuality and abortion, that is: from gender and power relations tensions between political-religious powers of the Catholic Church, reaching and involving different historical stakeholders. The problem being tackled by this research is to understand in which way abortion matters are updated following political clashes between the Holy See - as Catholic Official voice - and international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations (UN) and Organization of the American States (OAS). In addition to such stakeholders, there is the organization "Catholics for a Free Choice" - object of the present research -, suggesting alternative discourses for abortion matters. The research seeks to find out what historical processes have provided the rise and visibility of counter discourses through dissonant voices, authoritative voices and legitimate statements
Institutional strategies concerning Bibliography of Argentinean Colonial Art by Mario Buschiazzo (1947)
This paper analyzes the book Bibliography of Argentinean Colonial Art (Mario Buschiazzo, 1947) regarding the process of institutionalization and consolidation of colonial art studies at the University of Buenos Aires. Following the specificities of its format in the historiographical context of the period, I sustain that the book had a strategic role in the reorientation of artistic studies proposed by the mentioned university’s Institute of American Art and Aesthetic Studies. Besides professional aspirations pursued by its author, expressed in the exercise of the bibliographical review, the book constituted an effective format for the local and transnational scene regarding the consolidation of Buschiazzo’s profile as an expert, establishing his own historiographical production space.Fil: García, Carla Guillermina. Identity, past and present in Mario Benedetti's stories of exile
The purpose of this paper is to identify and to highlight the main rhetoric and narrative elements connected to the topic of identity in exile in the work of Uruguayan author Mario Benedetti. We will first analyze the sociopolitical situation in Uruguay as well as South America during the decade of 1970, as well as the consequences and the impact the experience of exile produces in an individual's self-perception Five representative stories, created by this writer during his own exile, are used to deal with various aspects of identity. The focus will be first on the characters' perception and awareness regarding the changes, the everyday habits as well as the anomalous life situation in which they find themselves. We will also discuss how their physical reality reflects a spiritual and irreversible condition due to the extreme drama experienced. Then reference will be made to the habits and values that necessarily go into crisis when, in order to survive under conditions of pressure, a new social and cultural environment is chosen. Finally, we will focus on the individual's sense of belonging to his place of origin, and how it is affected after living for some time in the host country when nostalgia, feelings of guilt, and adaptation to a new socio-cultural environment play a crucial role
Metrics for driving political economy of energy and growth
Energy metrics is the development of a whole new theoretical framework for the conception and measurement of energy and economic performances, energy efficiency and productivity improvements with important political economy implications consistent with the best use of all natural and economic resources. The purpose of this research is to present some vital energy indicators based on magnitude and scale of energy weakness, GDP per barrel that is an indicator of energy productivity and barrels per capita that is an indicator of energy efficiency. Energy metrics can support policy maker to monitor energy system of countries in order to design effective strategy and political economy focused to increase the competitive advantage of countries in modern economies.Energy metrics, Energy productivity, Energy efficiency, Energy systems

Possible technological determinants and primary energy resources of future long waves
The purpose of this paper is to conjecture the possible underlying technological determinants of future long waves, based on prominent studies of scholars and leading forecasting companies; in particular, this research assumes the converging of nano-bio-info-cogno technologies to be the foundation of 5th and 6th economic cycles, whereas the future technological revolution that may underpin the 7th long wave is assumed to be Faster-Than-Light technologies. The positive effects of these future technological revolutions on worldwide economic system are a high increase of productivity, employment rate, consumption and economic growth that lead to longer, happier, and healthier living as well as general well-being.Long Waves, Technological Revolution, Forecasting, Foresight
Forecast horizon of 5th – 6th – 7th long wave and short-period of contraction in economic cycles
The purpose of this essay is to determine the forecast horizon of the fifth, sixth and seventh long wave. As the period of each long wave can change according to the data, it has been used a deterministic approach, based on historical chronologies of USA and UK economies worked out by several scholars, to determine average timing, period and forecast error of future long waves. In addition, the analysis shows that long waves have average upwave period longer than average downwave one. This result is also confirmed by US Business Cycles that have average contractions shorter than expansions phase over time.Forecast Horizon, Long Waves, Kondratieff Waves, Business Cycles, Asymmetric Path

Predicting strategic change of public research institutions under unstable negative growth
The purpose of this paper is to forecast and analyse, by a demographic perspective, the organizational behaviour of public research labs. The research focuses on the biggest Italian public research body. Demographic models of growth, based on different human resource policies, show the uncertain and retrogressive evolutionary change of Italian public research bodies that would halve their research personnel over the forecast horizon. These results provide vital information to the public management about the weaknesses and environmental threats in order to support decisions for improving the strategic change and survival of public research institutions over time.Organizational Studies, Forecasting, Public Research Institutions, Internal Demography
Revista do Serviço Público - RSP, v. 73, n. 2, 287-314 p.Gestão PúblicaPolíticas PúblicasPolíticas SociaisISSN Impresso: 0034-9240ISSN Eletrônico: 2357-801
