Cooperative Learning Strategy: Theoretical and Application Obstacles

    No full text
Teaching strategies and methods have evolved as a result of the development of contemporary societies and the awareness of teachers and their need to change the traditional pattern in the education process, and to find alternative types that are commensurate with the scientific development. What was included in this development was the search for new learning strategies that could refute the old rigid strategies and advance the learning process to its best levels.Among these strategies, the Cooperative Learning Strategy, which is one of the modern learning strategies adopted by the competency-based approach, is student-centered, placing the learner at the center of the learning process. It is also suitable for various subjects (mathematics, science, Arabic, etc.). Cooperative learning generally leads to academic, social gains and helps to develop positive attitudes towards learning and the subject taught, requiring physical and human resources, as well as equipment and appropriate buildings for this strategy, and perhaps this is what we lack in educational reality

The study aim was to know the level of Sense of spirit and academic adjustment and the nature of the relationship between them among the students of a common trunk of the department of human sciences at university of M'sila. The sample consisted of (96) students; concerning the study tools, a questionnaire was used to know the level of the Sense of spirit, also, to assess academic adjustment. To achieve the study purpose the descriptive method was adopted. The study results indicated that-There was a strong correlation between the sense of spirit and academic adjustment among the study sample.-As for the level of the sense of spirit and academic adjustment was high.-There were no differences between the level of the sense of spirit and academic adjustment among the study sample subjects.-There exist differences between the study sample subjects in the level of academic adjustment according to the housing variable and in favor of internal housing

Life-Span Developmental Psychology: Midlife and Later Years in Western and Non-Western Societies

    No full text
This chapter discusses the basis on which studies have been done on the later years of life in Western and non-Western cultures. It suggests that because Westerners value independence, most research on aging in Western societies has focused on how to help the individual maintain his or her functional independence throughout the life-span. Non-Westerners, on the other hand, value interdependence. Therefore, most research on aging has focused on the availability of social support in later life. But with Westernization influences in non-Western societies, there should be a shift in research efforts in order to accommodate a new understanding of aging and human development that includes the promotion of functional independence in later life

Samia cynthia versus Bombyx mori : Comparative gene mapping between a species with a low-number karyotype and the model species of Lepidoptera

We performed gene-based comparative FISH mapping between a wild silkmoth, Samia cynthia ssp. with a low number of chromosomes (2n = 25-28) and the model species, Bombyx mori (2n = 56), in order to identify the genomic components that make up the chromosomes in a low-number karyotype. Mapping of 64 fosmid probes containing orthologs of B. mori genes revealed that the homologues of either two or four B. mori chromosomes constitute the S. c. ricini (Vietnam population, 2n = 27♀/28♂, Z0/ZZ) autosomes. Where tested, even the gene order was conserved between S. c. ricini and B. mori. This was also true for the originally autosomal parts of the neo-sex chromosomes in S. c. walkeri (Sapporo population, 2n = 26♀/26♂, neo-Wneo-Z/neo-Zneo-Z) and S. cynthia subsp. indet. (Nagano population, 2n = 25♀/26♂, neo-WZ1Z2/Z1Z1Z2Z2). The results are evidence for an internal stability of lepidopteran chromosomes even when all autosomes had undergone fusion processes to form a low-number karyotype

100 f. : ill. ; 30 cm. PD
