No full textFull exterior view of the John Neal House, 175 State Street, from southwest- east of Longfellow Square. At the time of this photograph, the building was known as The City Motel. The building was constructed in 1836, and was home to author and patron of the arts John Neal. The façade is made of Yarmouth granite, from a quarry purchased by Neal.

No full textA color postcard of a man sitting on a cart pulled by an ox, captioned "Rapid Transit in Rehoboth Beach, Del." There is wood in the cart's bed. The cart sits in front of a fence that surrounds a one-story house. Trees are also in the background. Miss Jennie Bowen of Darby, Pennsylvania, received this postcard from Lizzie. The sender wrote that John said Jennie would have to get on the train at Broad Street Station if she wanted an excursion ticket. Lizzie wrote that the train left at 3 o'clock sharp and asked Jennie to drop her a card in plenty of time. Louis Kaufmann & Sons published this postcard. The postage stamp is a one-cent U.S. #357, Benjamin Franklin. The back of the postcard is labeled 0907 and 30.00
