Healing, honoring, transforming: The power of spiritual activism in Marilou Awiakta's work
No full textMarilou Awiakta, author of Selu: Seeking the Corn-Mother's Wisdom, is a Cherokee/Appalachian author whose work reveals the web that connects all life and demonstrates how important it is to protect and honor every living thing. I believe that poet/author Marilou Awiakta's work exposes the interconnections between all living things—her work is part of the heartbeat that initiates spiritual activism. I define spiritual activism as creating concrete positive transformation that benefits all life. When one is a spiritual activist, one respects and works to sustain all living things, becoming an agent of change for people, nature, and animals—protecting the interconnections between all forms of life. In this thesis I will discuss what spiritual activism is, the ways in which Awiakta's work demonstrates and calls for spiritual activism, the potential transformation that can occur with spiritual activism, and how Women's Studies can benefit from increased awareness of and attention to Awiakta's work

No full textCherokee author Marilou Awiakta uses ancient Cherokee customs that are somehow distinctly East Asian, reflecting Feng Shui and Taoist orientations to envision a global strategy for reclaiming for the Appalachian region some of the lost positive energy of its Ch’i. For a region, in the words of Jim Wayne Miller, “Cut up and bleeding, the land lies breathing hard,/ in places torn and gouged beyond all healing,” Cherokee author Marilou Awiakta has discovered strategies for healing by encouraging a different “vision” both new and time-honored: the indigenous American worldview. In Abiding Appalachia: Where Mountain and Atom Meet, “Daydreaming Primal Space,” and other works, Awiakta looks at space circularly to curtail the straight line draining of Ch’i, essential life energy, from the land by the Western European power and dominion frame of mind. Robert Cummings, wondering about why Tennesseepoet George Scarbrough evokes the 8th-century Chinese poet Han-Shan in hundreds of poems, asks “How does one gain clarity about such a specific locality by reaching back over long periods of time to a very alien culture?” It may be, inScarborough’s case and Awiakta’s, that these “other” cultures are in fact bedrock American environmental consciousness, not “alien” at all. Moreover, Awiakta has developed a rhetorical style to counter the rigidly linear method of viewing (“conquering”) space, a personal. dreamlike, anti-logical form of “academic” writing alluding to and adapting Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space. D'abord élaboré avec Moodle pour être implanté de manière complète ou modulaire dans des cours disciplinaires, nous expliquons comment nous avons adapté son fonctionnement pour le rendre autoportant sur la plateforme Edx. Nous détaillons comment les innovations pédagogiques, basées sur des tests formatifs et un engagement conversationnel, sont appuyées sur les données probantes en enseignement. Nous montrons aussi comment le processus de design a permis l'amélioration de l'expérience utilisateur de l'apprenant. Des premiers résultats d'utilisation sont présentés

No full text<p>Cette présentation tente d'abord d'expliquer ce qu'est une ressource éducative libre (REL) et en quoi consiste le mouvement de l'éducation ouverte. On analyse ensuite ensemble la question du temps accordé à la création de nos ressources éducatives :</p>

<li>Est-ce qu'une REL prend plus de temps à créer qu'une ressource éducative standard?</li>
<li>Qu'est-ce qui demande du temps dans la création de ressources éducatives? </li>
<li>Est-ce que le temps, c’est de l’argent, et si oui, qui encaisse?</li>
<li>Qu’en est-il du temps versus la qualité des ressources produites?</li>
<li>Qu'entend-on par document "vivant" quand on parle de REL?</li>
<li>Au final, est-ce que la question du temps est la bonne question à se poser?</li>
</ul>

Cette ressource éducative libre comprend des cas cliniques sous format de fichiers H5P, un Support à la résolution de cas cliniques et un Guide d’utilisation des cas cliniques. Les fichiers H5P peuvent être utilisés de 2 façons : option 1 - par intégration sur tout site web ou environnement numérique d'apprentissage ou option 2 - en exportant totalement le code dans un environnement permettant l'importation de fichiers H5P. La première option reste liée aux fichiers déposés sur les serveurs de H5P.com, ce qui fait que vous bénéficiez des mises à jour. La deuxième option est une copie, donc il n'y a plus de liens avec les fichiers originaux. Cette option est utile si vous désirez adapter/modifier les fichiers.
