    Wilding, Performance as Research Project

    No full text
Wilding, a darkly humorous and politically charged performance exploring radical protest and feminism by Ildikó Rippel and Emma Bourke, a descendant of the militant suffragette Emily Wilding Davison. Facing the current threat by the UK government to remove the human right to protest, this performance celebrates rebellion and explores violence as a legitimate tool to fight an oppressive system. Combining testimonies by Emily Davison with autobiographical confession, Wilding merges archival footage with original video projection mapped onto an array of cardboard placards, as the performer’s present personal protests, Euro-Punk and a pantomime hors

Darwin Archaeology: Aboriginal, Asian and European Heritage of Australia's Top End

    No full text
This volume represents the first compilation of archaeological research for the Darwin region. The collection of papers in this volume focuses archaeological attention on a single region from a variety of perspectives, over a time period from 4000 years ago to the Second World War. Some papers expand upon former research on subsistence and settlement of past millennia, while others are groundbreaking in their treatment of the material remains of the very recent past. The aim is to make the results of this research accessible to the general public, as well as to archaeologists and historians.Forword -- Acknowledgements -- 1 Introduction: Physical and cultural transformations of the Darwin Region / Clayton Fredericksen, Sally Brockwell and Patricia Bourke -- 2 Settlement patterns on the lower Adelaide River in the Mid to Late Holocene / Sally Brockwell -- 3 Coastal cowboys: The development of speculative models of molluscan midden matter in the Darwin Region / Peter Hiscock -- 4 Archaeology of shell mounds of the Darwin coast: Totems of an ancestral landscape / Patricia Bourke -- 5 A poor man's show: Historic archaeology of the Bynoe Harbour Chinese community / Scott Mitchell -- 6 Single-Men's Quarters at Fannie Bay Gaol: An archaeology of hard drinking and mateship? / Clayton Fredericksen -- 7 An historic shipwreck in the wilderness: The aesthetic value of the Brisbane wreck site / David Steinberg -- 8 Archaeological investigations of the World War Two Catalina Flying Boat wreck sites in East Arm, Darwin Harbour: An appraisal of results / Silvano Jung -- 9 The Battle of North Australia: The archaeology of a World War Two airfield / Colin De La RueJira Ticket : CDU-30 : Collection Development Manager made the decision that for the books that have this message " This book is copyright. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
