Awareness of the Rural People on Different Digital Applications, Sites and Channels
Digital literacy provides many opportunities for growth and advancement of the people which is essential to survive in the current tech-dominated world. The present study was conducted with the objective of finding out the socio-economic status of the respondents and to assess the awareness of the rural people on different digital applications, sites and channels. The study was conducted on 120 members of Jorhat and Golaghat District of Assam. Results of the study showed that 70.83 per cent of the respondents belonged to the medium level of socio-economic status and among different digital applications sites and channels in different categories, DD Kishan (Agricultural), Facebook (Social media), ArogyaSetu (Health), Google meet (Videoconferencing), Google Pay (Finance) and Flipkart (online shopping) were found to be more popular as compared to others in their categories
Dance as Healing Therapy: The Use of Korean Traditional Mission Dance in Overcoming Oppression
Korean traditional mission dance originates in worship ceremonies in Christian churches and missionary settings, but inherits movement, floor patterns, and motifs from Korean folk dances that are performed as ceremonial rituals. This thesis suggests that as women connect to the healing power present in Korean traditional dance and its hybrid forms, they may be aided in healing from negative experiences with sexist oppression. The author discusses intersectional oppression she experienced in Korea through an autoethnographic research process, her experiences with Korean traditional mission dance pioneered by Soon Ja Park and considers identity transformation and healing in the context of her work as director of the L.A. Argon Mission Dance group. In this way, she expands a choreography model to further these healing processes

Knowledge of Farm Women on Causes and Effects of Climate Change: A Study in Imphal, East Districts of Manipur, India
Climate change is one of the most crucial environmental problems all over the world. It may adversely affect the atmosphere and livelihood of people. The knowledge and awareness about climate change play a vital role in responding to climate change. The present study was carried out in Sawombung Block and Heingang Block from Imphal East District of Manipur with a sample size of 100, which were selected randomly. The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge of farm women on causes and effects of climate change. The data were collected using a structured interview schedule and informal discussion. From the study it was found that majority of the respondents (71%) had medium knowledge, 21 per cent of the respondents had low level of knowledge followed by 16 per cent had high level of knowledge on the causes and effects of climate change. It was also found that from Block 2 (Heingang), education had a positive and significant (r=0.3641) relationship with the respondents knowledge on climate change. In order to improve the level of knowledge of the respondents on climate change, different trainings and awareness programmes can be conducted by concerned authority
Role of glutathione S transferase polymorphism in COPD with special reference to peoples living in the vicinity of the open cast coal mine of Assam.
BackgroundCOPD may develop due to variation in the functioning of antioxidants along with smoking and environmental factors in genetically susceptible individuals. Since there are different views about the antioxidants responsible for detoxifying xenobiotic compound in the human body whose functional variation may lead to obstructive disease, this associative study has been taken up between GST gene polymorphism and COPD in populations exposed to coal dusts.MethodsGenotypes of the 70 COPD patients and 85 non COPD patients were determined by PCR based methods followed by multiplex PCR of GSTT1 and GSTM1 genes taking albumin gene as a control. Suspended particulate analyses were determined through the Respirable Dust sampler along with the FTIR analysis of the dust samples from the glass microfiber filters.ResultsDust sampling analysis reveals higher level of respirable suspended particulate matter, non respirable particulate matter, SO2 and NO2 present in air of the study site. FTIR analysis also suggests a higher concentration of organic silicone and aliphatic C-F compounds present in air of the study site and when spirometry was done, low lung function was observed among most of the subjects. GSTM1 null type was significantly associated with low lung function in smoker groups and the presence of at least one active allele (either GSTM1/GSTT1) seemed to have a protective role in the development of COPD.ConclusionsGSTM1 (null genotype) appeared to be a risk factor for lower lung function in smokers living in the vicinity of coal mines. Apart from polluted environment and genetic susceptibility, mixed coal dust exposure rich in organic silicone and aliphatic C-F compounds also appears to be a factor for the low lung function

Problems Associated With the Use of ICTs by the Rural People: A Study in Assam
The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is becoming very important for the people to cope up with the digital advancements. The present study was conducted on 120 members of Jorhat and Golaghat District of Assam with the objective of finding out the availability and accessibility to different ICTs tools and the problems faced by the respondents associated with use of ICTs by the rural people. The information was gathered from the respondents using a structured interview schedule through personal interview method. The research design adopted for the present study is exploratory and descriptive. From the study it was found that the majority of the rural people possessed Television. It was found that more than half (56.70%) respondents were belonged to medium level of digital media possession. The respondents had very less participation in training related to ICT and among the various problems faced by the respondents in utilization of digital devices. “Fear of committing any mistake”, “High cost of internet packs” and “Poor network connectivity” topped the list with mean score 5.00, 4.98 and 4.66 respectively. The paper recommends for providing formal and informal trainings related using of ICTs in different activities
