destinazione della cosiddetta mulieris oratio del papiro Didot (P. Louvre 7171+7172), edita da Kassel e Austin
come adesp. com. fr. 1000. Si intende confutare l’ipotesi, in parte formulata in passato e più di recente ripresa
e rielaborata, che il frammento sia un esercizio scolastico di composizione poetica, in particolare ispirato alla
rhesis di Panfile negli Epitrepontes di Menandro (vv. 799-835). L’argomentazione distingue il piano della
composizione del passo da quello della sua ricezione nel papiro e include sia un’analisi letteraria e stilistica
del testo che osservazioni sulla ricezione scolastica antica della letteratura drammatica e di Menandro in
particolare. La posizione che si sostiene sulla paternità del frammento è che sia opera di un poeta della
Commedia Nuova.This paper examines the long-debated issues regarding the attribution, textual typology, and destination of
the so-called mulieris oratio contained in the Didot papyrus (P. Louvre 7171+7172) and edited by Kassel and
Austin as adesp. com. fr. 1000. It aims to refute the view (suggested in the past and resumed and re-elaborated
more recently) that the fragment is a school exercise in poetic composition, inspired in particular by
Pamphile’s rhesis in Menander’s Epitrepontes (799-835). The argumentation rests on the distinction between
the level of the composition of the mulieris oratio and the level of its reception in the papyrus. The discussion
includes a literary and stylistic analysis of the text as well as observations on the scholastic reception of
dramatic literature (Menander in particular) in antiquity. Regarding the attribution of the fragment, the
paper supports the stance that it was written by a poet of New Comedy

No full textThe so–called Μενάνδρου Γνῶμαι (or Menandri Sententiae) prove to be a very particular and apparently quite inconsistent case as far as the issues of authority and authenticity are concerned. In fact, the high value originally attributed to the figure of a precise author, Menander, to whom the whole corpus of these gnomic lines was attributed, contrasts sharply with the legitimation felt by ancient scholars and copyists to alter this corpus of maxims since the early stages of its trans-mission. In the following pages, I will hopefully clarify the cultural context of these operations and present some results of my comparative study between the monostichs gathered under the title of Menandri Sententiaeand Menander’s orig-inal lines. On these bases, I will attempt to classify the modalities of variation the γνῶμαι display and to understand the possible reasons behind them

More specifically, the presentation of Thrasonides as a miles amatorius can be supported by a comparison with the behaviour of Charisios in Epitr. 879-900. The portrait of Thrasonides as the reverse of the traditional comic type presents some echoes of the final lament of the Sophoclean Herakles (Tr. 1058-1075). No full textLa tesi, uno studio completo delle caratterizzazioni di soldati, mogli e concubine menandrei, si propone di indagare come il poeta ne faccia trasparire l’indole attraverso la combinazione della loro espressione di emozioni e pensieri, delle loro azioni che ne sono la conseguenza e la manifestazione, e dei commenti degli altri personaggi. Mantenendo come punto di riferimento costante i testi tràditi si analizzeranno modalità e finalità con cui il commediografo si avvale della pluralità di mezzi a sua disposizione (tra cui la rievocazione di modelli tragici, in varie forme e con diversi effetti, le variazioni nel metro e nel registro stilistico, le maschere e le tecniche narrative drammatiche) per mettere al centro delle sue commedie la rappresentazione del τρόπος dei protagonisti. La ricerca ambisce inoltre a contribuire a definire l’apporto innovativo dell’opera di Menandro rispetto alla scena comica precedente e a quella a lui contemporanea. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
