Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

No full textThis work aimed to know the experience of families in the care of children with myelomeningocele, seeking to investigate the repercussion of the disease in the family context and to identify the factors that integrate care to this child at home. It is a qualitative research, that adopted as theoretical reference the Symbolic Interacionismo and as methodological referential the Theory Grounded in the Data. Thirteen families participated in the study, with a total of 28 participants. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were carried out at the participants' homes and the data analysis was performed concomitantly with the collection, according to the steps recommended by the referential. It was possible to understand that the experience is constituted by two Phenomena: "Facing the malformation of the child" and "Overcoming expectations". The first one indicates the moments of difficulties experienced by the family with the discovery of the diagnosis; uncertainties and fear of caring; uncertain prognoses; incessant treatments; mobilization of family members to meet the child's health needs; the support received and the obstacles faced. The second depicts a rearrangement of the family beyond curative treatments; this search through various treatments, stimuli, devices and physical activity overcome the limitations of the child. They value the child's awareness of their difficulties, participating in and potentializing the treatments, as well as stimulating self-care, thriving future independence. Through these phenomena the Central Category and the Theoretical Model were identified: "Tirelessly looking for better health and life conditions for the child", which represents the experience of the family in the care of the child with myelomeningocele in the study population. Aiming at the autonomy of the child, the family mobilizes itself to the necessary treatments, learn the care, adaptation of the routine, as well as supply for all the needs of the child so that it reaches a potential development, prospecting a less dependent future with inclusion and social ascension. The results lead to the reflection on important areas of nursing action, such as rehabilitation nursing, which was highlighted in this study, since the family members' desire to be cared for; and family nursing, which also shows a potential support for this trajectory, due to its capacity to include the family in the care process.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)Este trabalho objetivou conhecer a experiência de famílias no cuidado de crianças com mielomeningocele, buscando investigar a repercussão da doença no contexto familiar e identificar os fatores que integram o cuidado a essa criança no domicilio. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, que adotou como referencial teórico o Interacionismo Simbólico e como referencial metodológico a Teoria Fundamentado nos Dados. Participaram do estudo 13 famílias, num total de 28 participantes. Para coleta de dados foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas no domicílio dos participantes e a análise dos dados foi realizada concomitantemente à coleta, conforme os passos preconizados pelo referencial. Foi possível compreender que a experiência é constituída por dois Fenômenos: “Enfrentando a má-formação da criança” e “Superando expectativas”. O primeiro aponta os momentos de dificuldades vividos pela família com a descoberta do diagnóstico; incertezas e o medo de cuidar; prognósticos incertos; incessantes tratamentos; mobilização dos membros familiares para suprir as necessidades de saúde da criança; os apoios recebidos e os obstáculos enfrentados. O segundo retrata um rearranjo da família para além dos tratamentos curativos; essa busca através de diversos tratamentos, estímulos, dispositivos e atividade física vencer as limitações do filho. Valorizam a conscientização da criança quanto a suas dificuldades, participando e potencializando os tratamentos, além de estimular o autocuidado prosperando uma independência futura. Através desses fenômenos identificou-se a Categoria Central e o Modelo Teórico: “Buscando incansavelmente por melhores condições de saúde e vida para o filho”, que representa a experiência da família no cuidado da criança com mielomeningocele na população estudada. Objetivando a autonomia da criança, a família se mobiliza a tratamentos necessários, a aprender os cuidados, adaptação da rotina, assim como suprir por todas as necessidades da criança a fim de que esta alcance um desenvolvimento potencial, prospectando um futuro menos dependente com inclusão e ascensão social. Os resultados levam à reflexão sobre importantes espaços de ação da enfermagem, como a enfermagem de reabilitação, que se destacou neste estudo, visto o anseio dos familiares em estarem capacitados para o cuidado; e a enfermagem familiar que também se mostra um apoio potencial para essa trajetória, devido a sua capacidade de incluir a família no processo de cuidado
