James Bond and the Identity Dilemmas of the British – Popular Culture and Shaping National Identity

The author tries to present that the conventional national symbols are being replaced by pop symbols and thus become the sources of national identity. The concepts of banal nationalism put forward by Michael Billig or Tim Enderson’s idea of everyday life’s practices in the development of national identity are being used. In the text, the phenomenon of James Bond is used to analyze the contemporary debates on British identity (Britishness). The author assumes that James Bond is a great example of Englishness that serves as a complex manifestation of a British hero which may, in turn, play a crucial role in political, civic, and patriotic education
Real-time price discovery in stock, bond and foreign exchange markets
No full textWe characterize the response of U.S., German and British stock, bond and foreign exchange markets to real-time U.S. macroeconomic news. Our analysis is based on a unique data set of high-frequency futures returns for each of the markets. We find that news surprises produce conditional mean jumps; hence high-frequency stock, bond and exchange rate dynamics are linked to fundamentals. The details of the linkages are particularly intriguing as regards equity markets. We show that equity markets react differently to the same news depending on the state of the economy, with bad news having a positive impact during expansions and the traditionally-expected negative impact during recessions. We rationalize this by temporal variation in the competing "cash flow" and "discount rate" effects for equity valuation. This finding helps explain the time-varying correlation between stock and bond returns, and the relatively small equity market news effect when averaged across expansions and recessions. Lastly, relying on the pronounced heteroskedasticity in the high-frequency data, we document important contemporaneous linkages across all markets and countries over-and-above the direct news announcement effects. Poczucie bezpieczeństwa Polaków w latach 2010-2015 w zmieniającym się środowisku bezpieczeństwa
No full textTaking into account the changing security environment and new threats, on the basis of research by CBOS, the author decided to analyze how the state of security of Polish people over the years 2010-2015 has changed. This period is important because of incidents which took place at that time and could influence the state of security. Take for example the beginning of Arab Spring, attacks in Norway, Crimean crisis or acts of terrorism in France. The author presented seven researches done during five years and made a synthesis which can be useful in this area to show recommendation to make similar research in the future.Biorąc pod uwagę zmieniające się środowisko bezpieczeństwa oraz wciąż pojawiające się nowe zagrożenia, autorka na podstawie badań przeprowadzanych przez CBOS postanowiła zbadać, jak zmieniał się stan poczucia bezpieczeństwa Polaków w latach 2010-2015. Wybrany został wskazany przedział czasowy, gdyż właśnie w tych latach miejsce miały liczne wydarzenia, które mogły w istotny sposób wpłynąć na poczucie bezpieczeństwa. Do wydarzeń tych można zaliczyć m.in. początek Arabskiej Wiosny, zamach w Norwegii, kryzys krymski czy akty terroru we Francji. Autorka zestawiła w jednym artykule siedem badań przeprowadzonych w ciągu ostatnich pięciu lat. Dokonała tym samym syntezy, która może być przydatna w zakresie wskazania ewentualnych rekomendacji do przeprowadzenia podobnych badań w przyszłości

In his work he quotes John Paul II’s documents. The article shows consistency and validity of biblical reality of the spousal love of Divine Bridegroom as the fundament of the sacrament of matrimony. Wychowanie dzieci w tradycji biblijnej
No full textThe author of the study presents the issues of upbringing and education of Jewish children in the light of biblical data. In pursuing the objective, first, he discusses the environment of child education, which was primarily the multi-generational Israeli family and then the Jewish, but also partially its institutional form (schools) and mainly the synagogue in Christian times. In the next paragraph, the author pointed out the multiple methods of upbringing and education of children and young people, emphasizing the element of obedience and discipline constantly present in the biblical tradition (Proverbs 13:24; 22:15; 23:12 etc.). At the end of the article, the reader will find an overview of the main content of teaching and educating, of which religious education has a primary significance. According to the author, some elements of the biblical upbringing and education retain their permanent value, including the family as the primary environment for raising children, followed by a good example of the life of parents and other family members. There is also religious education of children, which significance the biblical authors point out repeatedly.Autor opracowania przedstawia problematykę wychowania i edukacji dzieci żydowskich w świetle danych biblijnej. Realizując cel omawia wpierw środowisko wychowania dzieci, którym w Biblii była przede wszystkim wielopokoleniowa rodzina izraelska i następnie żydowska, a także z biegiem czasu forma instytucjonalna (szkoła) i głównie synagoga w czasach chrześcijańskich. W kolejnym punkcie zostały przedstawione wielorakie metody wychowywania i edukacji dzieci i młodzieży, wśród nich również element posłuszeństwa i karności stale obecny w tradycji biblijnej (Prz 13,24; 22,15; 23,12 itd.). W zakończeniu artykułu czytelnik znajdzie omówienie głównych treści wychowania i edukacji dzieci, pośród których wychowanie religijne miało znaczenie nadrzędne. W opinii autora część przywołanych elementów biblijnego wychowywania i edukacji zachowuje swoją trwałą wartość, w tym rodzina jako podstawowe środowiska wychowywania dzieci, następnie dobry przykład życia rodziców i innych członków rodziny. Apostolat mężczyzny w rodzinie
No full textThe article presents the essence of the issue of the apostolate of man in the family. Its foundations are theologically justifi ed in the mission of Christ and the content of the sacramental marriage vow. The author points to the forms of the apostolate and draws attention to the need for the formation of a man in the context of the so-called “male movement” in the Church and the phenomenon of “fatherlessness”. Therefore, explaining a new the meaning of the apostolate in the family and taking care of the contemporaryman, husband and father is extremely important from the point of view of pastoral theology and pastoral care. In the research on the issues of the man’s apostolate in the family, the method of analysis and interpretation of biblical texts, church documents, as well as theological and non-theological publications was used. The method of deduction was also used in relation to the issue raised. The method of observation helped to systematize and evaluate the phenomenon of apostolic engagement of husband and father.W artykule przybliżono istotę zagadnienia apostolatu mężczyzny w rodzinie. Jego podstawy mają uzasadnienie teologiczne w posłannictwie Chrystusa oraz treści sakramentalnej przysięgi małżeńskiej. Autor wskazuje na formy apostolatu oraz zwraca uwagę na potrzebę formacji mężczyzny w kontekście rosnącego w siłę tzw. „ruchu męskiego” w Kościele oraz zjawiska „braku ojca”. Dlatego wyjaśnianie na nowo sensu apostolatu w rodzinie oraz podjęcie troski o współczesnego mężczyznę, męża i ojca jest niezwykle istotne z punktu widzenia teologii pastoralnej oraz duszpasterstwa. W badaniach dotyczących problematyki apostolatu mężczyzny w rodzinie zastosowana została metoda analizy oraz interpretacji tekstów biblijnych, kościelnych dokumentów, a także publikacji teologicznych i pozateologicznych. Wykorzystana została również metoda dedukcji w odniesieniu do poruszonego zagadnienia. Metoda obserwacji pomogła w usystematyzowaniu i ocenie zjawiska apostolskiego zaangażowania męża i ojca

No full textThe article deals with manipulation in the media. The author\u27s intention was to investigate whether Catholic web portals manipulate truth in published articles. Thus the Church\u27s teaching on the subject of the media was presented as well as methods and techniques of manipulation. The manner of message transmission in the Catholic media was confronted with these theses. The research results show that these portals are only trying to make the content attractive, but they are in accordance with the teaching of the Magisterium and the truth of the presented events.Artykuł traktuje o manipulacji w mediach. Intencją autora było zbadanie czy katolickie portale internetowe manipulują prawdą w publikowanych artykułach. W tym celu przybliżono naukę Kościoła na temat mediów, przedstawiono sposoby i techniki manipulacji oraz skonfrontowano z tymi tezami sposób przekazu wiadomości w katolickich mediach. Z przeprowadzonych badań wyniknęło, że wspomniane portale jedynie starają się o atrakcyjność treści, pozostają jednak w zgodzie z nauczaniem Magisterium i prawdą przedstawianych wydarzeń

No full textDespite remarkable developments in diffraction unlimited super-resolution microscopy, in vivo nanoscopy of tissues and model organisms is still not satisfactorily established and rarely realized. RESOLFT nanoscopy is particularly suited for live cell imaging because it requires relatively low light levels to overcome the diffraction barrier. Previously, we introduced the reversibly switchable fluorescent protein rsEGFP2, which facilitated fast RESOLFT nanoscopy (Grotjohann et al., 2012). In that study, as in most other nanoscopy studies, only cultivated single cells were analyzed. Here, we report on the use of rsEGFP2 for live-cell RESOLFT nanoscopy of sub-cellular structures of intact Drosophila melanogaster larvae and of resected tissues. We generated flies expressing fusion proteins of alpha-tubulin and rsEGFP2 highlighting the microtubule cytoskeleton in all cells. By focusing through the intact larval cuticle, we achieved lateral resolution of <60 nm. RESOLFT nanoscopy enabled time-lapse recordings comprising 40 images and facilitated recordings 40 µm deep within fly tissues
