Within the research project “Biodiversity survey in alpine habitat”, ran by the DolomitiBellunesi National Park with funds from the Italian Ministry of the Environment, the Museumof Natural History of Venice was commissioned in 2013 to carry out a camera-trapping survey. The target of such survey was both to investigate the distribution and presence of mustelidsand to verify the presence of Felis silvestris. The latter species was considered as potentiallypresent, but so far never unambiguously reported. The information gathered allowed tointegrate the scarce and fragmented data available on mustelid distribution in the area of thePark. Based on preliminary work performed in 2013, a targeted survey in 2014 ascertainedthe presence of the wildcat in the Maè creek basin within the Longarone-Val di Zoldo area

(RODENTIA: HYSTRICIDAE)

The crested porcupine, Hystrix cristata (L. 1758) has recently expanded northwards and reached the Liguria, Lombardy and Veneto regions in a short time span. Within the Veneto region, this species is known since mid Eighties, in the plain and hilly areas of Verona, Rovigo, Vicenza and Venice provinces. The present study provides an update of the presence of the species in the province of Verona and suggests that the Crested porcupine is now fully established within this territory. This is confirmed by the finding of a young, 8-10 month old, female. This is the first evidence of probable reproductive success of the species in the province of Verona, as well as within the whole Veneto region

Europe and Brussels had a mutual dependency from the founding of the European Communities. This article explores the historic relation between local urban and the transnational development of post-war Europe. It ultimately raises the question to what extent there exists a dialogue between various actors involved to actively design and build the image of Europe in Brussels.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care. MUPRO: A multipurpose robot

The aim of this article was to describe an apparatus, called multipurpose neck robot (MUPRO), designed to record both the forces exerted at head level and the head rotations in the horizontal plane in the behaving monkey. It consists of a mechanical device, comprising a cardan joint, a potentiometer, an electromagnetic brake, and four flexion load cells, plus an oleodynamic system allowing head rotation in the horizontal plane between +/-20degrees. There components are assembled on a column bolted to the primate's chair. An electrical device provides DC power for the potentiometer and the brake. The apparatus enables us to measure both the force fields and the head movements during training sessions and electrophysiological investigations

Th e paper discusses the animal assemblage recovered under the direction of the “Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Veneto - NAUSICAA” of the Italian Ministry of Culture during the excavation carried out in Piazza San Marco at Venice (Italy) in 2004. Animal remains come fr om twelve layers, three of which are related to a sewer fi lled in at the end of the 15th century, whereas the others are related to drainage activities. About 1085 fr agments have been analyzed; 883 (81.4%) have been identifi ed according to species and mostly belonged to the domestic animals. Catt le and goat-sheep are the most common species; pigs are less represented, whereas poultry, other birds and molluscs were rare. Most of the material seems to be highly fr agmented due to slaughtering and butchery activities; signs of burning were noticed as well in some instances. Mammals were slaughtered both when young and adults. Th e variation in the age in which all species were slaughtered was quite considerable. Young individuals under one year, as well as adults even older than 10 years, were well represented. Th e animal sample fr om Piazza San Marco is the largest assemblage of Venice dated to the late Middle Age and provide some information on the life of the ancient town
