'Lees van Celan Sommerbericht': Paul Celan in het werk van C.O. Jellema

    No full text
This paper investigates the influence of the German poet Paul Celan on the works of C.O. Jellema. The starting point is the reference in Jellllema’s poem ‘Brief over schrijven’ from the collection Een eng cocon (1975) in which the author explicitly refers to Celan’s ‘Sommerbericht’. This poem appears to be crucial for defining Jellema’s poetical position, finally resulting in a rejection of the poetics of Celan

Like most truly epochal revolutions, the computer age crept in on this generation before we could figure out its numerous possible applications. Over the past few years, an increasing appreciation of the usefulness of digital technology has emerged among various professions. How has the advent of the computer impacted the field of surgery? Is it worth embracing for the older practitioners? What does the future portend for our ancient noble profession? This paper reviews current applications of computer technology in the field of surgery and the hopes it hold out to surgeons in developing countries

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are a public health problem. In this group, coronary artery disease has shown an increase, in particular, in the prevalence of acute myocardial infarction in 35-54-year-old women. The World Health Organization suggests studying this issue based on regional differences to find solutions. Objective: To analyze socio-cultural and healthcare characteristics associated with coronary artery disease in women from Nariño. Materials and Methods: Case study (women with coronary artery disease) and controls (women without coronary artery disease) served in reference institutions of Nariño. The sample was made of 35 cases and 105 controls through non-probability sampling. Results: Features such as being a smoker, hypertensive and living in an urban area showed greater association with coronary artery disease: Odd ratios= 21.11, CI 95% 3.97-112.26 and Odd ratios= 9.47, CI 95% 2.87-31.23, accordingly. A proportion of women with coronary artery disease stand out as culturally characterized by keeping their illness a secret not to worry others. Discussion: Being a smoker and hypertensive are key factors to develop coronary heart disease, these situations can be induced by family, social, cultural and occupational issues faced by women. Conclusions: Women with coronary artery disease were characterized as being smokers, hypertensive and living in an urban area, it is thus necessary to generate specific prevention and control strategies for women. © 2019 by the Author(s)

Abstract: This study investigated the effect of audit firm characteristics on the financial reporting quality of non-financial institutions in Nigeria for the periods 2014-2018. To achieve this objective an explanatory research design was adopted to gather historical data from the annual financial statement of the selected non-financial financial for the periods in questions. In addition, from the 106 non-financial institutions firms in Nigeria stratified under seven segment of; Oil & Gas, Consumer Services, Consumer Goods, Basic Materials, Technology, Health Care and industries. A purposive sampling of 32 non-financial institutions were selected for the study. This comprised of 10% industry each from each stratum. Both descriptive and inferential statistics of Panel Regression analysis (in random effect) were adopted for the study. The result of the study revealed that audit firms characteristics had significant positive effect on the financial reporting quality of the selected non-financial institutions. It was concluded that audit firm independence, audit firm tenure, audit firm size, joint audit and audit fees were significant and positively related to the quality of financial reporting. Keywords: Audit firm characteristics, Audit firm independence, Audit firm tenure, financial reporting quality. Methodology for Deploying Secure Applications in the Cloud

    No full text
There are challenges that lie in migrating enterprise applications into the cloud .Certain enterprises might want data to be partly hosted on premise in the enterprise and also partly hosted in the cloud, while other enterprises might their applications to be fully hosted on the cloud. Such hybrid possibilities can enable enterprises to benefit from cloud-based architectures, while honouring application performance requirements, but privacy issues and security considerations is always a problem during migration. This work highlights the need for security in the cloud; Different features offered by cloud providers are explored. Concepts like Virtual machine migration and a hardware chip that can be used as a basis for trust in the cloud are discussed. Pre-migration hints shows what needs to be done before the actual secure migration paths set-in. The migration path is based on a generalisation of the kind of threats these features are exposed to. There are arguments as to why such paths are the most secure. It is a fact that cloud computing infrastructures enable companies to cut costs by outsourcing computations on-demand, however, clients of cloud computing services currently have no well acknowledged means of verifying the confidentiality and integrity of their data and computation. To address this problem, it was part of the migration strategy in this work to design a system that enables a cloud provider to provide an execution environment that guarantees integrity in the execution of virtual machines for its clients, but the design works in hand with a trusted third party.Computer science Infomation ArchitecutureComputer scienceElectrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc
