Detection of signals in the ion cyclotron frequency range at the edge during ICRF heating on ASDEX Upgrade

    No full text
The ICRF system on ASDEX Upgrade is equipped with an arc detector based on the observation of frequencies between 5 and 25 MHz in the RF feeding line [RI). On some shots, the detector was triggered in an anomalous way: tenths of detections over several hundreds of milliseconds on detectors of all antennas at the same time [R2]. It was suggested that these frequencies were not excited by arcs but came from the plasma. We installed a RF probe inside the vacuum vessel and connected it to a fast acquisition system. We indeed observed frequencies during ICRF heating of several shots. We present here the features of these frequencies, their possible conditions of existence in terms of plasma and RF parameters (magnetic field, density, temperature, RF frequency, power injected) and we compare the source of these frequencies with known phenomena like ICE, CAE and surface waves

Characterization of arcs in frequency domain

    No full text
Arc detection systems are developed for ICRH on ITER to prevent arcs from damaging the RF components. One of the detectors, the Sub-Harmonic Arc Detector (SHAD) is based on the detection of the frequencies emitted in the MHz range by arcs [RI]. To ensure the high level of reliability required for this safety system, it is necessary to demonstrate that these frequencies present a signal with a Signal to Noise Ratio high enough to be detected under the wide range of operational conditions (frequency, power, configuration) and for the different types of arcs that can appear in the feeding lines and on the antennas (vacuum arc, glow discharge, multipactor-induced discharge). For each type of are, we analyze the evolution of the frequency spectrum relative to the evolution of other electrical parameters (reflected power, voltage)

Electromagnetic simulations of the ASDEX Upgrade ICRF Antenna with the TOPICA code

    No full text
Accurate and efficient simulation tools are necessary to optimize the ICRF antenna design for a set of operational conditions. The TOPICA code was developed for performance prediction and for the analysis of ICRF antenna systems in the presence of plasma, given realistic antenna geometries. Fully 3D antenna geometries can be adopted in TOPICA, just as in available commercial codes. But while those commercial codes cannot operate with a plasma loading, the TOPICA code correctly accounts for realistic plasma loading conditions, by means of the coupling with 1D FELICE code. This paper presents the evaluation of the electric current distribution on the structure, of the parallel electric field in the region between the straps and the plasma and the computation of sheaths driving RF potentials. Results of TOPICA simulations will help to optimize and re‐design the ICRF ASDEX Upgrade antenna in order to reduce tungsten (W) sputtering attributed to the rectified sheath effect during ICRF operatio

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Analysis Of The Impact Of Antenna And Plasma Models On RF Potentials Evaluation

    No full text
The design of an Ion Cyclotron (IC) launcher is essentially driven by its coupling properties and its capability of maintaining low parallel electric fields in front of it, indeed providing good power transfer to plasma and avoiding unwanted phenomena such as sheath rectification or hot spots. Both aspects are deeply related to the adopted geometry and the loaded plasma model; the systematic usage of TOPICA code [1], able to precisely take into account a realistic antenna geometry and an accurate plasma description, could certainly help in understanding which elements may have a not negligible effect on the antenna design. This paper presents a detailed comparison, carried out with TOPICA code, between a simplified flat version of one of the IC antennas installed in ASDEX Upgrade experiment and its real curved geometry. The advantages and disadvantages of both geometrical representations are outlined in terms of power transferred to the plasma and with a specific focus on sheath driving potentials. To complete the overview, the importance of an accurate plasma description is also exploite

Proximity effect in superconductor/antiferromagnet hybrids: Neel triplets and impurity suppression of superconductivity

Two possible physical mechanisms of superconductivity suppression at superconductor/antiferromagnet (S/AF) interfaces, which work even for interfaces with compensated antiferromagnets, were reported. One of them suggests that the Neel order of the AF induces rapidly oscillating spin-triplet correlations in the S layer. They are called Neel triplets, and they suppress singlet superconductivity. Nonmagnetic disorder destroys this type of triplet correlations. As a result, the critical temperature of the S/AF bilayer grows with impurity strength. The second mechanism, on the contrary, suggests that nonmagnetic impurity scattering suppresses superconductivity in S/AF hybrids. The predictions were made in the framework of two different quasiclassical approaches [G. A. Bobkov et al. Phys. Rev. B 106, 144512 (2022) and E. H. Fyhn et al. arXiv:2210.09325]. Here we suggest the unified theory of the proximity effect in thin-film S/AF structures, which incorporates both pictures as limiting cases, and we study the proximity effect at S/AF interfaces for arbitrary impurity strength, chemical potential, and the value of the Neel exchange field.Comment: 7 pages, 9 figure

Využití sociálních médií v B2B prodeji

    No full text
This diploma thesis focuses on social media usage in B2B sales. Based on the systematic literature review conducted by the author, he has found out that recent researchers (Salo, 2017) suggest further research in the area of how and in which sales phase should various social networking sites, technologies and plugins used. To further fill this research gap, author decided to identify these social media and their usage among B2B salespeople in the so-called social selling process. The social selling process in this thesis applies mainly to acquiring new prospects and tangentially to taking care of existing clients (follow-up step). Author has chosen a qualitative research method via conducting 10 in-depth semi-structured interviews to reveal these instruments as well as motivation of a sales person on why to use social media in the selling process. The collected data was analyzed using Thematic analysis to ensure the right procedure and to identify main themes which crystalized into 2 main strategic approaches in social selling. These approaches (Push and Pull) include practical examples of concrete activities which sales people can use in their daily jobs and are presented with focus on practicality and ease of implementation. These also form the main contribution of author`s research. In the last part, author mentions challenges in social selling and recommended managerial implications for salesforce
