Die Bhagwan-Kontroverse: Der Ashram von Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh im Spiegel der indischen Regionalpresse
Get PDFIn Anbetracht der Vielzahl an Veröffentlichungen, die sich mit der neuen religiösen Bewegung von Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh sowie den Konflikten um die Gemeinschaft im US-amerikanischen Oregon auseinandersetzen, wird in dieser Arbeit der Fokus auf die Einbettung in den Kontext der indischen Gesellschaft der siebziger Jahre gelegt, wo Bhagwan und seine Anhänger 1974 ihren Ashram im westindischen Pune gründeten. Mithilfe der Analyse indischer Regionalzeitungen versucht die Autorin der Frage nachzugehen, wie Bhagwan und seine Gemeinschaft wahrgenommen wurden. War er in das für Indien charakteristische Kaleidoskop von Gurus, Asekten, Heiligen und religiösen Führern eingeordnet und akzeptiert worden oder hatte es wie in den USA Spannungen und Konflikte um diese neue religiöse Gemeinschaft gegeben? Falls ja, wie waren diese verlaufen, welche Ursachen lagen ihnen zugrunde, welche Akteure waren daran beteiligt und welche Strategien setzten sie ein?
Die Ergebnisse aus der Analyse des historischen Materials werden von der Autorin schließlich dazu verwendet, um den Begriff des 'religiösen Nonkonformismus' theoretisch zu schärfen und dessen Anwendbarkeit für die Beschreibung außereuropäischer Phänomene zu untersuchen.:Inhaltsverzeichnis

The reply was to a letter also attached that had been written to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh regarding comments made in The Goose Is Out, a book written by Bhagwan. Certain comments in the book were considered by one of Khalsa's clients, Yogi Bhagwan, as defamatory. This item was a part of the papers of Bob Oliver, Governor Atiyeh's legal counsel

Redox-Responsive Nanocapsules for the Spatiotemporal Release of Miltefosine in Lysosome: Protection against Leishmania
No full textLeishmaniasis, a vector-borne disease, is caused by intracellular parasite Leishmania donovani. Unlike most intracellular pathogens, Leishmania donovani are lodged in parasitophorous vacuoles and replicate within the phagolysosomes in macrophages. Effective vaccines against this disease are still under development, while the efficacy of the available drugs is being questioned owing to the toxicity for nonspecific distribution in human physiology and the reported drug-resistance developed by Leishmania donovani. Thus, a stimuli-responsive nanocarrier that allows specific localization and release of the drug in the lysosome has been highly sought after for addressing two crucial issues, lower drug toxicity and a higher drug efficacy. We report here a unique lysosome targeting polymeric nanocapsules, formed via inverse mini-emulsion technique, for stimuli-responsive release of the drug miltefosine in the lysosome of macrophage RAW 264.7 cell line. A benign polymeric backbone, with a disulfide bonding susceptible to an oxidative cleavage, is utilized for the organelle-specific release of miltefosine. Oxidative rupture of the disulfide bond is induced by intracellular glutathione (GSH) as an endogenous stimulus. Such a stimuli-responsive release of the drug miltefosine in the lysosome of macrophage RAW 264.7 cell line over a few hours helped in achieving an improved drug efficacy by 200 times as compared to pure miltefosine. Such a drug formulation could contribute to a new line of treatment for leishmaniasis.A.
