Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Tasarım tescilinde iç mekan tasarımlarına ilişkin görsel anlatımlara yönelik bir analiz
Get PDFİç mekan tasarımları diğer tasarımlar gibi 6769 Sayılı Sınai Mülkiyet Kanunu kapsamında tasarım
tesciliyle korumadan faydalanabilmektedir. Söz konusu tasarımın koruma kapsamını belirleyen en önemli
unsur ise tescil başvurusunda sunulan görsel anlatımlardır. Görsel anlatımların eksik, yetersiz ve problemli
olması durumunda tescil süreçlerinde hak kayıpları yaşanabilmektedir. İç mekan tasarımlarının, içinde
yaşanabilen tasarlanmış bir ürün olduğu gözetildiğinde görsel anlatımlarında çeşitli problemlerin olması
yadsınamaz bir gerçek olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Çalışmada bu gerçekten yola çıkarak, Türk Patent ve
Marka Kurumu (TÜRKPATENT) tarafından her ay yayınlanan Resmi Tasarımlar Bültenlerindeki iç mekan
tasarımlarına ait görsel anlatımlar analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analiz için araştırma deseni olarak durum çalışması,
yöntem olarak ise durum çalışması türlerinden biri olan doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçları;
fotoğraflarla elde edilmiş görsel anlatımlarda tespit edilen problemlerin aksine dijital görselleştirmelerle
elde edilen görsel anlatımların kılavuzda belirtilen standartlara daha uygun olduğunu göstermiştir. Ancak
her iki görsel anlatım biçiminde de eksik, hatalı veya yetersiz sayıda sunulan görsel anlatımlar nedeniyle iç
mekan tasarımlarının bütününün tam olarak ifade edilemediği tespit edilmiştir. Literatürde az sayıda çalışma
bulunan bu alanda hem yetkili otorite TÜRKPATENT için önerilere hem de başvuru sahipleri için dikkat
edilmesi gereken noktalara yer verilmiş, ayrıca gelecek çalışmalar için de önerilerde bulunulmuştur

AN ANALYSIS OF VISUAL REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING INTERIOR DESIGNS IN DESIGN REGISTRATION
No full textInterior designs, like other designs, can benefit from protection by design registration within the scope of the Law Number 6769 on Industrial Property. The most important element that determines the scope of protection of the design in question is the visual representations presented in the registration application. In case the visual representations are incomplete, insufficient and problematic, loss of rights may occur in the registration processes. Considering that interior designs are designed products that can be lived in, it is an undeniable fact that there are various problems in their visual representations. Based on this fact in the study, the visual expressions of interior designs in the Official Designs Bulletin published every month by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT) were analyzed. For the analysis, case study was used as a research design and document analysis, which is one of the case study types, was used as a method. The results of the analysis showed that contrary to the problems detected in the visual representations obtained with photographs, the visual representations obtained with digital visualizations are more in line with the standards specified in the guide. However, it has been determined that the entire interior design cannot be fully expressed due to missing, incorrect or insufficient number of visual representations in both visual representations. In this field, where there are few studies in the literature, both recommendations for the competent authority TURKPATENT and points to be considered for applicants are included, and suggestions for future studies are also made

In this study, "Do It Yourself" method, with a methodological study undertaken in the course of "Furniture Design II" in Anadolu University Faculty of Architecture and Design by Ass. Prof. Mehmet Ali Altm, has been addressed empirically. Scope of the study includes a furniture design process by the students in one academic term based on practice with "Do It Yourself - DIY" theme base containing production prototype. In "Do It Yourself DIY" theme, it is essential to document the reply of a product designed or renewed in different scales to the question "How is it made?" as written, drawn, video, sound recording and the like. Tarihsel süreçte konuya dair ilgili mevzuatların oluşturulması bir başlangıç olarak ele alındığında; mevzuatlarla ilgili düzenlemeler ve küresel ölçekte gündelik yaşamı etkileyen çeşitli olaylar korumanın pratik sürecini etkilemektedir. Yapılan bu çalışma kırılma noktaları ekseninde ‘‘Mobilya’’ ve ‘‘Sınai Haklar’’ ile ilgilidir. Konuya ilişkin literatür taraması yapılmış ve konunun amaç ve kapsamına uygun olarak doküman analizi yöntem olarak tercih edilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında küresel ölçekte ve ülkemizdeki fikri ve sınai hakların tarihsel sürecine ilişkin perspektifin literatür taramasına yer verilmiştir. Taramadan referansla sınai haklar özeline inilerek ulusal mevzuatta yapılan önemli değişiklikler ve küresel ölçekteki etkin olaylar tespit edilmiştir. Tasarımların özel hükümlerle 1995 yılında korunmaya başlanması ve 2017 yılında köklü bir değişiklikle 6769 sayılı Sınai Mülkiyet Kanunu’nun yürürlüğe girmesi dönüm noktalarıdır. COVID-19 ise 2019 yılında küresel ölçekte etkili olan önemli bir olay olarak ele alınmıştır. Sınai hakların tescil işlemlerini yürüten yerel bir otorite olan Türk Patent ve Marka Kurumu’nun ‘‘Mobilya’’ özelinde 1995-2023 yılı arasındaki tescil başvuruları ve tasarım tescili verileri incelenmiş ve tarihsel süreçle ilişkilendirilerek veriler yorumlanmıştır. Although the emergence of intellectual products dates back to the beginning of similar desires of human beings, which can be described as self-actualization, such as the desire to express oneself, to bring solutions, to express one's problems or to produce, when we look at the literature, it is seen that the historical process of the protection of intellectual and industrial property rights dates back to the 1400s. When the creation of relevant legislation on the subject in the historical process is considered as a beginning; regulations related to legislation and various events affecting daily life on a global scale affect the practical process of protection. This study is about "Furniture" and "Industrial Property Rights" on the axis of breaking points. A literature review on the subject was conducted and document analysis was preferred as a method in accordance with the purpose and scope of the subject. Within the scope of the study, a literature review of the perspective on the historical process of intellectual and industrial propoerty rights on a global scale and in our country is included. With reference to the review, industrial property rights were analyzed to identify significant amendments to national legislation and influential events on a global scale. The protection of designs with special provisions in 1995 and the entry into force of the Law number 6769 on Industrial Property with a radical amendment in 2017 are milestones. COVID-19 pandemic was considered as an important cause that had a global impact in 2019. The design registration applications and design registration data of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, which is a local authority that carries out the registration procedures of industrial property rights, between 1995 and 2023 for "Furniture" are analyzed and the data are interpreted in relation to the historical process. </p
