Philosophy as the Rationality of a Worldview. On the 70th Anniversary of the Birth of Ivan Macan (1939 -2009)
This article was written to mark the seventieth year of life of Ivan Macan, S.J., the esteemed Professor of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb and the Faculty's first dean, whose merits include his continual contributions to the Journal Obnovljeni život since the first year of its renewed publication (1971). Finally, Ivan Macan's entire bibliography is presented
Ivan Tourgueniev : usages épistolaires de l'entre-deux
Ivan Turgenev 's correspondence was instrumental in defining the writer's position as an artist in 19th-century Russian society. This position lies somewhere in-between the private and public spheres, as epistolarity is both the place to communicate with people from one's close circle and the space where Turgenev tries to adress the reading public, which the author sees as a possible ally against an increasingly hostile press. The paper concentrates on the years 1867-1872, between the publication of Smoke and Torrents of Spring.Genevray Françoise. Ivan Tourgueniev : usages épistolaires de l'entre-deux. Image of Ivan Terrible in European Propaganda during Livonian War (Poetic Works of S. Wolf and J. Kokhanovsky)
The image of Ivan the Terrible in the propagandic European poetry of the Livonian War is considered. On the example of two poetic works “An elegiac poem about the campaign of His Majesty Stephen the First, the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania against Ivan Vasilyevich, the Grand Duke of Moscow” by the German author Samuil Wolf (1582) and “The Song of the Capture of Polotsk” by the Polish poet Jan Kokhanovsky (1580) the conclusion is made about the great interest of the European reader in the personality of the Moscow tsar. The analysis of these texts shows the grotesque image of Ivan the Terrible, formed under the influence of the “political order” coming from the Polish King Stefan Batory. It is also concluded that European propaganda played a negative role, contributed to the loss of the Muscovite state in the Livonian War. The indifference of the tsar himself to what was published about him in the West is also noted, this was the reason that Ivan the Terrible did not want to carry out reciprocal propaganda campaigns and limited himself in this regard to exculpatory and accusatory letters to S. Batory, A. M. Kurbsky and some European monarchs. “The Song of the Capture of Polotsk” was first translated into Russian by the author of the article and is published here in full
Neovisno o odgovorima što ih podastire književna teorija, književna praksa obiluje mnoštvom primjera različitog iskazivanja »autorskog« i »autorstva«. Kada je riječ o Feđi Šehoviću, po nama su, posve pojednostavljeno, tri glasa/lica njegova književnog autorstva; prvo, ismjehivačko, drugo dokumentarno i treće izmišljeno pripovjedačko, a svako je ostvareno primjerenim brojem relevantnih književnih stranica. The question of author and authorship is one of open questions of literary science. Independently of the answers served by the literary theory, literary practice is filled with numerous examples of different representations of »what is of the author« and »authorship«. When it comes to Feđa Šehović, in a simplified manner, we think that there are three voices/faces of his literary authorship; the first - derisive one, the second – his documentary face and the third invented-narrator face, each of which accomplished by a suitable number of relevant literary pages
Postaje oduševljeni pristaša Ilirskog pokreta, no do 1848. g. nije suviše politički aktivan. Ivan Mažuranić was not only well known as a writer and poet but was one of the greatest Croatian politicians and statesman of the 19th century. At a very early age of 32 he substituted writing for politics. He became an enthusiastic member of the Illyrian Movement but until 1848 was not greatly involved in politics. He became more active in politics and the Croatian Parliament through the National Party and then the ”Progress” Party and became the programme writer. His first well-known political document is the ”Hervati Madjarom” from 1848. As a skilled lawyer and diplomat he held very important positions in judicature and administration and the most important are: The President of the Croatian Court Dicastery and as a Croatian Court Chancellor in Vienna. He is the author of most parliament documents and laws of which the most renowned is Article 42 of the Croatian Parliament in 1861. He was a politician with foresight and as such he fought for a greater autonomy for Croatia within the Monarchy and he fought against the hegemonistic politics of Hungary. As the first plebeian Civil Governor (1873-1880) he introduced a series of important reforms in all aspects of social and public life. With Mažuranić starts an era of a new, more modern Croatia, based on reforms on West European models and in the spirit of democratic civil liberalism
