Chronology and dynamics of fluid circulations associated to polymetallic Pb-Zn-Ag-(F-Ba) mineralizations in the Western Alps (French Northern Alps)
This PhD thesis aims at revisiting the metallogenic models of the Pb-Zn-Ag-(F-Ba) deposits of the Western Alps and their relationships with the Variscan and Alpine orogenic cycles. For this purpose, we have combined field, petrological, microstructural, mineralogical (sulfide composition), geochronological, thermobarometric (phyllosilicates, sphalerite) investigations with microthermometric and geochemical analyzes on fluid inclusions (FI). Eleven deposits were sampled along an E-W transect from the Internal Alps (Briançonnais) to the External Crystalline Massifs (ECM ; Rocheray and Belledonne). This work focused on six deposits: (i) Macôt-La Plagne (MP) and Peisey-Nancroix (PN) in the permo-triassic sedimentary cover of the Briançonnais, (ii) Bois Feuillet (BF) and Sapey (SAP), which cross-cut the Rocheray basement and its sedimentary cover, and (iii) Le Gros Villan (LGV) and Penay (PEN) along the eastern side of Belledonne.Constraining the ages of the mineralizations was a priority. Innovative techniques were applied by combining in situ U-Th-Pb (monazite/allanite) and Rb-Sr (white mica, K-feldspar and gangue) dating. The results are consistent between the two methods and confirm the potential of these new geochronometers to date Pb-Zn-Ag ores. No variscan inheritance has been recognized but three hydrothermal events of the Alpine cycle were identified : one associated with the jurassic opening of the Tethys Ocean (BF, SAP) and two during the oligo-miocene collision (PN-MP and LGV-PEN). The microstructures and ages indicate several mobilization/recrystallization pulses associated with each hydrothermal event. The Belledonne and Briançonnais oligo-miocene mineralizations are hosted within the foliation of the mylonitized host rock, near major tectonic contacts. At MP-PN, the deformation of the quartz porphyroclasts and the P-T-t conditions (6.25 ± 0.75 kbar ; 315 ± 35 °C ; 35.1 ± 0.6 Ma) demonstrate that the Pb-Ag mineralization is syn-deformation and associated with the overthrusting of the internal Briançonnais onto the external Briançonnais. In the Belledonne massif, a first stage of Pb-Zn-Ag mineralization occurred during the Oligocene (37.1 ± 0.7 Ma), in relation with the thrusting of the internal Alps onto the external Alps, from hot crustal fluids (>360 °C) flowing along the the ECM shear zones. A second stage occurred at the P-T-t conditions (4.5-6.9 kbar; 320-360 °C; 18.5 ± 3.6 Ma) of the ECM metamorphism. The F-Ba-Pb-Zn-Ag veins of the Rocheray massif formed in normal faults associated with the rifting-ocean transition (134 ± 34 Ma). Microthermometric studies on quartz, fluorite and sphalerite FI indicate that the mineralization crystallized from mixing a brine (~14 wt% eq. NaCl) and a recharge fluid (~2 wt% eq. NaCl), for P-T conditions of 0.4-1.3 kbar and 150-190 °C. At the peak of the ECM alpine metamorphism, hot fluids (314 ± 45 °C) localized along the vein and granite contact caused remobilization at the edge of the primary minerals and redistributed the critical metals (enrichment in Bi, Ag and Te in galena and depletion in Ga and Ge in the secondary sphalerites). The Pb-Zn-Ag-(F-Ba) deposits of the Western Alps were thus formed during the main stages of the Alps structuration. The MP and PN deposits, mined between the 18th and 20th centuries, show that orogenic Pb-Ag mineralization have been of economic importance in the past.
This work proposes a new metallogenic model for orogenic Pb-Zn-Ag mineralizations in a collisional context. It opens new perspectives to revisit the potential of the orogenic context to precipitate or remobilize base and critical metals. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
