LAST HOPE for an astrophysical solution to the solar neutrino problem
We discuss what appears the last hope for an astrophysical solution to the solar neutrino problem: a correlated variation of the astrophysical factors for the helium burning cross sections (S33 and S34) and either S17 or the central temperature TC. In this context, we recognize the important role played by the CNO neutrinos. In fact, we can obtain a fair fit to the experimental data only if three conditions are met simultaneously: the astrophysical factor S33 is about 200 times what is presently estimated, the astrophysical factor S17 is about 3 times larger and the 13N and I5O neutrino fluxes are negligible compared to the ones predicted by standard solar models. These conditions are not supported by the present data and their correlated combination is improbable
Bounds on hep neutrinos
The excess of highest energy solar-neutrino events recently observed by Superkamiokande can be in principle explained by anomalously high hep-neutrino flux Phi(nu)(hep). Without using SSM calculations, from the solar luminosity constraint we derive that Phi(nu)(hep)/S-13 cannnot exceed the SSM estimate by more than a factor three. If one makes the additional hypothesis that hep neutrino production occurs where the He-3 concentration is at equilibrium, helioseismology gives an upper bound which is (less then) two times the SSM prediction. We argue that the anomalous hep-neutrino flux of order of that observed by Superkamiokande cannot be explained by astrophysics, but rather by a large production cross-section. Helioseismic constraints to the central solar temperature and neutrino fluxes
The central solar temperature T and its uncertainties are calculated in helioseismologically-constrained solar models. From the best fit to the convective radius, density at the convective radius and seismically determined helium abundance the central temperature is found to be T = 1.58 x 10(7) K, in excellent agreement with Standard Solar Models. Conservatively, we estimate that the accuracy of this determination is Delta T/T = 1.4%, better than that in SSM. Neutrino fluxes are calculated, The lower limit to the boron neutrino flux, obtained with maximum reduction factors from all sources of uncertainties, is 2 sigma higher than the flux measured recently by SuperKamiokande. Electromagnetic cascades and cascade nucleosynthesis in the early universe
We describe a calculation of electromagnetic cascading in radiation and matter in the early Universe initiated by the decay of massive particles or by some other process. We have used a combination of Monte Carlo and numerical techniques which enables us to use exact cross sections, where known, for all the relevant processes. In cascades initiated after the epoch of big bang nucleosynthesis γ rays in the cascades will photodisintegrate ⁴He, producing ³He and deuterium. Using the observed ³He and deuterium abundances we are able to place constraints on the cascade energy deposition as a function of cosmic time. In the case of the decay of massive primordial particles we place limits on the density of massive primordial particles as a function of their mean decay time, and on the expected intensity of decay neutrinos.Protheroe, R.J.; Stanev, T.; Berezinsky, V.S
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

UHECR: Signatures and models
The signatures of Ultra High Energy (E ≳ 1 EeV) proton propagation through CMB radiation are pair-production dip and GZK cutoff. The visible characteristics of these two spectral features are ankle, which is intrinsic part of the dip, beginning of GZK cutoff in the differential spectrum and E1/2 in integral spectrum. Measured by HiRes and Telescope Array (TA) these characteristics agree with theoretical predictions. However, directly measured mass composition remains a puzzle. While HiRes and TA detectors observe the proton-dominated mass composition, the data of Auger detector strongly evidence for nuclei mass composition becoming progressively heavier at energy higher than 4 EeV and reaching Iron at energy about 35 EeV. The models based on the Auger and HiRes/TA data are considered independently and classified using the transition from galactic to extragalactic cosmic rays. The ankle cannot provide this transition. since data of all three detector at energy (1–3) EeV agree with pure proton composition (or at least not heavier than Helium). If produced in Galaxy these particles result in too high anisotropy. This argument excludes or strongly disfavours all ankle models with ankle energy Ea > 3 EeV. The calculation of elongation curves, Xmax(E), for different ankle models strengthens further this conclusion. Status of other models, the dip, mixed composition and Auger based models are discussed
This diploma thesis focuses on social media usage in B2B sales. Based on the systematic literature review conducted by the author, he has found out that recent researchers (Salo, 2017) suggest further research in the area of how and in which sales phase should various social networking sites, technologies and plugins used. To further fill this research gap, author decided to identify these social media and their usage among B2B salespeople in the so-called social selling process. The social selling process in this thesis applies mainly to acquiring new prospects and tangentially to taking care of existing clients (follow-up step). Author has chosen a qualitative research method via conducting 10 in-depth semi-structured interviews to reveal these instruments as well as motivation of a sales person on why to use social media in the selling process. The collected data was analyzed using Thematic analysis to ensure the right procedure and to identify main themes which crystalized into 2 main strategic approaches in social selling. These approaches (Push and Pull) include practical examples of concrete activities which sales people can use in their daily jobs and are presented with focus on practicality and ease of implementation. These also form the main contribution of author`s research. In the last part, author mentions challenges in social selling and recommended managerial implications for salesforce
