The manuscript was composed by a Fulani scholar of the Taal family. The status of integration of BIM into the curricula of construction education in Nigeria / Muhammad Abdullahi, Fatima Muhammad Bello and Usman Sabo Nalado
This research appraises the status of BIM integration in the Curricula employed for training construction professionals in the Nigerian Construction industry. Using qualitative research approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted to the sample of nine (9) Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) programs offered in four tertiary institutions in Kaduna State. The heads of department of Architecture, Building and Quantity Surveying in these institutions were invited to participate in the survey. Data collected through the interviews were subsequently analysed using content analysis. The study found that although BIM is yet to be fully integrated into the curricula of the CEM programs of the surveyed institutions, the institutions have a fair awareness of the concept of Building Information Modeling and the potential benefits of its implementation in the industry. Also, several barriers such as; lack of room in the existing curriculum for additional classes; lack of staff with the knowledge of BIM; high cost of training; lack of accreditation standards and requirements to guide the integration of BIM within a curriculum were identified to be the major obstacles hindering successful integration among others. The study concludes that the status of integration of BIM into construction education in CEM programs is unsatisfactory and requires tremendous improvement. To ensure wide and improved BIM integration in the curricula of CEM programs, it’s recommended that the regulatory and professional bodies of the various disciplines in the built environment should mandate the inclusion BIM in the curricula of all CEM programs offered in the country
Abdullahi dan Fodio and Muhammad Bello’s Debate over the Torobbe-Fulani: Case Study for a New Methodology for Arabic Primary Source Material from West Africa
This paper explores the conflict between Abdullahi dan Fodio and his nephew, Muhammad Bello, over the origin of their ethnic group, the Torobbe-Fulani. Initially open to his uncle’s theories of an Arabocentric migration narrative, Bello went on to change his views abruptly and undermine his uncle’s work. Through sketching the background to the conflict followed by a close reading of the documents themselves–Abdullahi’s īdāʿ al-nusūkh and Bello’s critical commentary to it, the ḥāshiya–I suggest these documents offer different models for political legitimacy. Prefaced by a critical analysis of the use of the Fodiawa’s Arabic writings in Sokoto historiography, I suggest that future approaches must take into account the political nature of these documents, the specific contexts in which they were produced and the personal relationships of their authors.</jats:p

Hausa Visual Genome 1.0
Data
-------
Hausa Visual Genome 1.0, a multimodal dataset consisting of text and images suitable for English-to-Hausa multimodal machine translation tasks and multimodal research. We follow the same selection of short English segments (captions) and the associated images from Visual Genome as the dataset Hindi Visual Genome 1.1 has. We automatically translated the English captions to Hausa and manually post-edited, taking the associated images into account.
The training set contains 29K segments. Further 1K and 1.6K segments are provided in development and test sets, respectively, which follow the same (random) sampling from the original Hindi Visual Genome.
Additionally, a challenge test set of 1400 segments is available for the multi-modal task. This challenge test set was created in Hindi Visual Genome by searching for (particularly) ambiguous English words based on the embedding similarity and manually selecting those where the image helps to resolve the ambiguity.
Dataset Formats
-----------------------
The multimodal dataset contains both text and images.
The text parts of the dataset (train and test sets) are in simple tab-delimited plain text files.
All the text files have seven columns as follows:
Column1 - image_id
Column2 - X
Column3 - Y
Column4 - Width
Column5 - Height
Column6 - English Text
Column7 - Hausa Text
The image part contains the full images with the corresponding image_id as the file name. The X, Y, Width, and Height columns indicate the rectangular region in the image described by the caption.

Investigation on the Corrosion Inhibition of Eucalyptus Camaldulensis Bark Extract on Mild Steel in Nitric Acid Medium
Abstract: The inhibitory effects of Eucalyptus camaldulensis bark extract on the corrosion of mild steel in a nitric acid medium were investigated through weight loss measurement. Eucalyptus camaldulensis, commonly referred to as the river red gum, is a flowering plant species of the Myrtaceae family. The research found that the bark extract had the highest efficiency at a concentration of 0.8g/l and a temperature of 303K, with a 59.34% inhibition rate. The study also showed that the inhibition rate increased with higher concentrations of the inhibitor but decreased with higher temperatures, suggesting that physical adsorption mechanisms were involved.

Measurement of radiation dose level within Queen Amina Hall, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
Measurement of background radiation is of great interest for it provides useful information in monitoring environmental radioactivity. The aim of the present study is to provide information and generate database on the natural background radiation dose levels of densely populated Queen Amina Hall, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The radiation dose (outdoor and indoor dose rate) were measured at 29 rooms (Block 1- 4) and their compounds using RADOS survey meter held at 1m above the ground. The measured radiation dose ranged 0.13 nGyh-1 to 0.43 nGyh-1 and 0.54 nGyh-1 to 1.72 nGyh1 for indoor and outdoor respectively. Some of the high values recorded could be attributed due to the contribution of cosmic radiation emanating from the atmosphere as well as the geological settings of the location as there is no any artificial contributing factor within the area. The annual effective doses within the study area was found to be 0.01 mSvy-1 throughout which is quit below the world average value of 0.87 mSvy-1 for natural sources.
