Oral history interview with Bryan Bell
Abstract provided by interviewer Drew Bell.
Bryan Bell attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas from 1992-1996 and received a B.S. Biology degree from the university. As a Church of Christ-affiliated private college, ACU was and still is known for providing a world-class Christ-centered education, and it has never wavered from this commitment. In this interview, Bryan provides insight into his experiences as a student, as well as the gender expectations and norms of the day, including dormitory regulations, expectations for dating and marriage, the dress code, and how these expectations were enforced. Bryan also talks about how discussions about gender and sexuality differ today versus the time when he was attending, and what ACU can do to better adjust for these changes. He explains the different roles men and women played in chapel, in classes, and in the local church congregations. He talks about what Christians can do to be more welcoming to members of the LGBTQ community, and how ACU can continue to love them and care for them, as well as offer the same world class education everyone else is expected to receive
Drew Lopenzina, 40th Annual ODU Literary Festival
Drew Lopenzina hails from the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts and teaches Early American and Native American literatures at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. His second book, Through an Indian\u27s Looking Glass (University of Massachusetts Press), is a cultural biography of the Pequot writer, activist and minister William Apess, the first Native American to write and publish his own book length treatises and memoirs in the 1820\u27s and 30\u27s. Praise by Barry O\u27Connell states that Lopenzina brings Apess nearly fully to life, which no one else, among many scholars, has. I know of no better reader of Apess\u27s own writing. Lopenzina is also the author of Red Ink: Native Americans Picking up the Pen in the Colonial Period. His essays appear in the journals American Literature, American Quarterly, Studies in American Indian Literature, Native American and Indigenous Studies and others
Bell and Sacramento
In this white paper, Matthews explores corruption scandals prior to the Bell Scandal. He also presents two paradoxes to the Bell Scandal. One is that the Bell officials had the power to get into so much trouble in no small part because their power was so limited. Another paradox is that Bell was at once both a white- hot national scandal, singular in the attention it drew, and also just another small chapter in a long-running California scandal

Closing loopholes in experimental Bell tests
Ever since John Bell proposed an experimental test of locality and realism in 1964, physicists have sought a conclusive experimental disproof of these seemingly fundamental principles. However, for fifty years the unique technical challenges of experimental Bell tests resulted only in incomplete Bell tests implemented across a wide variety of experimental platforms, each with remaining loopholes limiting its applicability. Only in 2015 were the three key loopholes, efficiency, communication, and freedom-of-choice, all closed in the first loophole-free Bell tests, which drew on technological advancements and the lessons of earlier Bell test implementations
