Validation of the Italian Version of the Brief Emotional Intelligence Scale (BEIS-10)
No full textBased on Salovey and Mayer’s conceptualization of emotional intelligence, Davies and colleagues developed the BEIS-10 scale, a 10-items self-report questionnaire that explores individual dispositions that people have about exploring one’s own and others’ emotions. To date, no studies assess the validity of the BEIS-10 scale in the Italian context. This article aims to fill this gap, exploring the validity, reliability, and construct validity of the Italian version of this scale. 244 Italian adults participated in the study and 67 respondents completed a second administration of the scale after two-weeks. The recommended statistical procedures were followed to validate the Italian version of the BEIS-10 scale and, after a back-translation process and a pilot testing, the five-factor structure of the scale was tested through a confirmatory factor analysis. Results highlighted that the five-factor model of emotional intelligence proposed by Davies and colleagues (2010) is confirmed in the Italian population. Data showed good reliability, good stability over time, and evidence of construct validity of the BEIS-10 scale. The BEIS-10 scale could be completed in a couple of minutes and it is particularly useful for collecting data in contexts in which time is an issue

Overflatebehandlingen, som kan være i form av impregnering, olje, beis eller maling, har til oppgave å beskytte og forskjønne. Overflatebehandlingsprodukter er blandinger av en lang rekke kjemiske forbindelser. Denne rapporten tar for seg noen av de vanligste overflatebehandlingstypene som brukes på trefasader: løsemiddelbaserte alkydoljeprodukter og vannbaserte alkydolje-, akrylat- eller hybridprodukter. Rapporten tar ikke for seg tradisjonelle produkter som linoljemaling og tretjæreprodukter. I første del av rapporten beskrives de ulike komponentene som produktene består av, det vil si bindemidler, fyllstoffer, pigmenter, eventuelle løsemidler og tilsatsstoffer. Denne delen av rapporten gir eksempler på formulering av produkter i de ulike kategoriene. Maling og beis legges i forholdsvis tynne lag på overflaten til treet og utgjør dermed en forholdsvis liten del, vektmessig sett, av en malt eller beiset trefasade. Noen av de forbindelsene som inngår i en overflatebehandling har allikevel, fordi de samlet sett brukes i forholdsvis store mengder, en betydelig negativ innflytelse på miljøet. Det er av interesse å vite hvilken grad en overflatebehandling bidrar til miljøregnskapet for treprodukter. På den ene siden beskytter produktene og kan derfor bidra til forlenget levetid. På en annen side inneholder overflatebehandlingsproduktene forbindelser som er skadelige for miljøet. Det første gir en positiv effekt på miljøregnskapet, det andre en negativ effekt. Summen av positivt og negativt er forhåpentligvis positivt. Hvorvidt summen av positive og negative faktorer som påvirker miljøregnskapet for overflatebehandling av trefasader er positivt eller negativt klarer ikke denne rapporten å gi et svar på. Den siste delen av rapporten tar for seg livssyklusanalyser som er utført på overflatebehandlingsprodukter og malt treverk. Studiene gir ikke grunnlag for å komme med en konklusjon, men viser at levetiden til malte fasader sammenliknet med levetiden til umalte fasader og malingens miljøbelastning sammenliknet med miljøbelastningen ved fremstilling og bruk av selve treet er viktige parametre i en totalanalyse. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
