dimensions in the two groups of students in favor of bilingual students, and the variables such as age, marriage, field of study, socioeconomic status, religious beliefs and communication skills were influential on the social health of both groups. Also, the results of the regression showed that 29% of the influence on the dependent variable of this study was interpreted by the independent variables. In addition, the communication skill is the strongest variable predictor with a rate of 66%. Keyword: Social Health, Social Integration, Students, Language   Bilingualism, Monolingualism and Social Health: A Comparative Study Behzad Khedri[1]  ,  Farideh Sadat Momeni Masuole[2] Received: 18/2/2017                   Accepted: 30/4/2018   Abstract There are mental influencing factors among students in the educational context such as educational stress, ethnic and cultural contradictions and the existence of political, belief, racial as well as gender discrimination, which can affect various aspects of student life and the health of this stratum, especially their social dimension could be endangered. Regarding the relationship between language, as a fundamental cultural component, and social health which has not been studied in social health research. In other words, the language of different ethnicities can provide unity, integrity, coherence and participation, or can a common language affect health and its social dimension or not? This study aims to answer the mentioned question by investigating bilingual students (ethnicities) and the monolinguals (those who speak only one language). In the following, we intend to explain what factors affect the social health of each group? The method of this study was survey and data was collected through questionnaires. The statistical population is Sanandaj University students and the sample included 384 individuals by the Cochran formula. The results of this study showed that there is a significant difference between the total social health and its [1].

Investigating the contribution of author- and publication-specific features to scholars' h-index prediction

    No full text
Evaluation of researchers' output is vital for hiring committees and funding bodies, and it is usually measured via their scientific productivity, citations, or a combined metric such as h-index. Assessing young researchers is more critical because it takes a while to get citations and increment of h-index. Hence, predicting the h-index can help to discover the researchers' scientific impact. In addition, identifying the influential factors to predict the scientific impact is helpful for researchers seeking solutions to improve it. This study investigates the effect of author, paper and venue-specific features on the future h-index. For this purpose, we used machine learning methods to predict the h-index and feature analysis techniques to advance the understanding of feature impact. Utilizing the bibliometric data in Scopus, we defined and extracted two main groups of features. The first relates to prior scientific impact, and we name it 'prior impact-based features' and includes the number of publications, received citations, and h-index. The second group is 'non-impact-based features' and contains the features related to author, co-authorship, paper, and venue characteristics. We explored their importance in predicting h-index for researchers in three different career phases. Also, we examine the temporal dimension of predicting performance for different feature categories to find out which features are more reliable for long- and short-term prediction. We referred to the gender of the authors to examine the role of this author's characteristics in the prediction task. Our findings showed that gender has a very slight effect in predicting the h-index. We found that non-impact-based features are more robust predictors for younger scholars than seniors in the short term. Also, prior impact-based features lose their power to predict more than other features in the long-term.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figur

A Study of the Relationship between Social Capital and Social Happiness among the Youth of Dehlorn, Iran Abdolhosein Kalantari[1] ,  Amrollah Keshavarz[2] ,  Hassan Momeni[3] Received: 28/4/2018                Accepted: 9/12/2018   Abstract Social capital provides a backdrop for vitality and happiness of the society via elements such as participation, social trust and social solidarity. This study sought to investigate the relationship between social capital and social happiness among the youth aged between 18 and 30, in the city of Dehloran in 2017. The theoretical foundation of the present study was the views of major experts in social capital, including Putnam, Coleman, Bourdieu, and Mazlow.  A quantitative correlational research design was utilized for this study. The population included all the youth aged between 18 and 30, from which 400 were selected as the sample through cluster sampling. To collect the required data, the standard questionnaires of social capital used in the NationalCenter for Social Observatory (2015), and the modified Oxford Happiness Questionnaire were employed. To test the hypotheses, multiple regression and structural equation modeling (Lisrel software) as well as factor analysis were used. The results suggested that there was a direct positive relationship between social capital (trust, universalism, moral values and attributes, participation, give-and-take, national affiliation, life satisfaction and sense of security) and social Happiness. The size of the relationship was about 57%. The mean values of social capital and social happiness of the sample were 3.90 and 3.68, respectively which was slightly over the medium level. In addition, the relationship between demographic variables (age, marital status, education and gender) and social happiness was investigated. Age, marital status and gender were significantly related to social happiness; while, no relationship was found between education and social happiness. Keywords: Social Capital; Trust; Participation; Youth; Social Happiness. Police Genre: Interruption and its Classification as a Sign of Asymmetry in Police Interview/Interrogation

    No full text
Generic knowledge is, in part, knowledge of what texts and their constituents do. Since this knowledge creates infrastructure for different kinds of talk like legal talk, police genre as a branch of legal talk is born. As Gibbons (2003:130) says (quoting Swales 1990), genres are ‘prototypes’ that can be followed or modified. The most usual feature of police genre is questioning. Questioning is done under powerful relation between police officer [interviewer] and culprit [interviewee]. This asymmetrical relation cause police officer easily interrupts his interviewee. In order to explain and analyze the police genre, all signs should be identified. Therefore, the author concentrates on interruption and its types. Having gathered data in Iranian courts and Bureau of Police Investigation, the author found nine different types of interruption with aims of getting information, cooperation, etc
