Psychiatrists reading RANZCP journals may not be aware of risks posed by stone fruit, in particular apricot kernels. This letter aims to educate psychiatrists on the risks of cyanide poisoning from apricot kernels. We quote a case of cyanide poisoning from 2015. Scientific evidence on the risks secondary to small amounts is provided. Psychiatrists will be up to date with knowledge on the risks apricot kernels. Searching RANZCP journals using key words stone fruit and apricot kernels will yield a reference highlighting metrics and risks.Full Tex

I report on yet another alarming misrepresentation of psychiatrists. Throughout the Millennium tripartite series1–3 Dr Peter Teleborian, a psychiatrist, is a very influential figure for the main character Lisbeth Salander. She is a child in care of the state who has suffered individual and systemic forms of several types of abuse. Results from the burden assessment scale at the youth family well-being team Meadowbrook
No full textBackground: The Youth Family Well-Being Team (YFWBT) at Meadowbrook is part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) Academic Clinic Unit at Metro South Hospital and Health Services. It is an assertive outreach team (Bond and Drake, 2015). YFWBT model of service delivery is informed by the flexible assertive community treatment (FACT) from Holland (Van Veldhuizen et al., 2015). YFWBT is a multidisciplinary team. Peer workers are a substantial and integrated part among the child and youth medical professionals and allied professions (Pickett et al., 2012). MS HHS is part of the public mental health (MH) provision in Queensland. Team members are employed by Queensland Health. YFWBT is an enthusiastic and dedicated team working at the interphase between inpatient and outpatient CYMHS. To evidence progress and clinical changes of patients, CYMHS use the QH battery of outcomes, which include the Health of the Nation Outcome Scores for Children and Adolescents (HoNOSCA), Factors Influencing Health Status (FIHS), the Children Global Assessment Scale (C-GAS) and the strength and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ). YFWBT focuses on clients with severe mental illness. Carer burden is of concern and a focus for intervention.
Objectives: To introduce YFWBT, and to identify and appraise use of the Burden Assessment Scale (BAS) (Reinhard et al., 1994) at YFWBT.
Methods: Case file review. This poster presents YFWBT consecutive BAS-completed service episodes during 2019 and 2020.
Findings: A majority of clients saw an improvement in BAS scores during their time with YFWBT.
Conclusion: In addition to HoNOSCA, FIHS, SDQ and C-GAS measures, YFWBT make use of an additional outcome measure: BAS. BAS is a useful tool to show change in burden for carers.No Full Tex

A Guide to the Management of Minors Presenting out of Hours to the Emergency Department With Mental Health Difficulties
No full textBackground: Assessing and managing mental health issues in minors in the emergency department (ED) can be different from the management of adults. This may cause confusion to staff in an ED.
Objectives: This poster gives an overview of some of the Commonwealth-based legal concepts which apply to minors, with reference to basic medical standards such as good medical practice. The aim is to give personnel working in ED out-of-hours templates of how to clarify and streamline reflection on client management and reduce potential confusion about the diverse legal frameworks that pertain to mental health care of minors.
Methods: The author draws on his experience from when on call for ED at the local hospital.
Findings: Practice points are emphasised that apply to the management of minors, whichever jurisdiction.
Conclusions: In addition to a standard mental health assessment, a mental health clinician assessing a child out of hours may wish to consider custody and guardianship, competency of the minor, and take developmental stage and child safety issues of the minor into consideration. With respect to management, the clinician may wish to consider which route of disposition from the ED is best. It is unlikely that only one single option or one single legal framework only will need to be considered. Likely several agencies and legal frameworks will need to be drawn upon. This poster raises awareness of the main options and gives a template to assist with assessment and management of the child or adolescent presenting with mental health concerns out of hours to the ED.No Full Tex
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
