Luigi Bazzani, un artista nella Pompei di fine '800
Il capitolo, dopo averne tracciato il profilo biografico e artistico, ripercorre l'esperienza di Luigi Bazzani a Pompei
Ange Paola Bazzani, fagot (Colombia)
Luigi Bazzani (1836-1927), made his reputation in the Post-Unitarian Rome as a vedutista and scenographer; here he joined the large group of artists that in the second half of the 19th century found a major source of inspiration in classical antiquities.
Unlike his colleagues working in the same tradition, however, Bazzani developed a more complex and aware relationship to archaeology and the antiquities: although his early repertoire included daily scenes set in ancient Rome or Pompeii, through his work he soon affirmed his dedication to a detailed, scientific depiction of antiquity; he accomplished archaeological views that stand out for their extraordinary accuracy and reveal his strong, ever increasing commitment to meticulous archaeological research.
His Pompeian watercolors executed with artful draftsmanship and technical mastery are invaluable documentation describing with the most precise accuracy the Pompeian buildings and wall paintings that since then have been irreparably damaged or destroyed. In these works, as well as in his paintings of the ancient Rome's monuments, Bazzani has been able to blend powerful suggestions of the past with a profoundly researched accuracy, adopting a methodology that reflects the state of archaeology in the last decades of the nineteenth century

A Flexible Approach to Product Configuration exploiting Fuzzy Knowledge and SQL
Flexible retrieval of configurable products is one of the
most challenging task for e-commerce applications; user requirements
are usually imprecise or approximate, and the application has
to interpret them in the right way in order to retrieve a set of relevant
products. In many cases such products are stored as a database
of components and an automatic configuration process has to be provided.
In the present paper, we propose an approach to intelligent retrieval
and configuration of component-based products, starting from
a set of possibly fuzzy user requirements provided at different levels
of detail. A conceptual product model is introduced and its use during
the configuration process is discussed. The proposed approach
exploits fuzzy SQL and a bottom-up (from basic to complex components)
configuration process that can be implemented on top of a
standard RDBMS. The approach is illustrated through a simple example
based on a PC assembly task
Analysis of noise-induced bimodality in a Michaelis–Menten single-step enzymatic cycle
In this paper we study noise-induced bimodality in a specific circuit with many biological implications, namely a single-step enzymatic cycle described by Michaelis-Menten equations. We study the biological feasibility of this phenomenon, which allows for switch-like behavior in response to graded stimuli, considering a small and discrete number of molecules involved in the circuit, and we characterize the conditions necessary for it. We show that intrinsic noise (due to the stochastic character of the Master Equation approach) of a one-dimensional substrate reaction is not sufficient to achieve bimodality, then we characterize analytically the necessary conditions on enzyme number fluctuations. We implement numerically two model circuits that show bimodality over different parameter windows, that depend critically On system size as predicted by our results, providing hints about how such a phenomenon could be exploited in real biological systems
Residence registration to cope with homelessness: evidence from a qualitative research study in Milan
Homeless people are one of the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in developed countries, and their homelessness situation often persists over the long term.
However, so far, no studies have explained the specifc role played by residence registration as it relates to deprivation amongst the homeless population and its contribution to improving the lives of homeless people. This paper investigates the paths homeless people in Milan use to access residence registration, via a case study in the city of Milan. Home to Italy’s largest homeless population, the city of Milan has implemented the innovative ResidenzaMi project to improve access to residence registration for homeless people. The study considers ofcial statistics and individual interviews
with service providers involved in the registration process. It further investigates the main factors impeding the registration process and outlines the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results from our study indicate that a residence certifcate plays a critical role in helping homeless people exercise their rights and access the services hey need to escape homelessness. Our fndings suggest the importance of a holistic, multidimensional approach to ensure access to residence registration for homeless person
