The initiative to form a savings circle to access housing arises as a response to the housing demand raised by the city's demographic growth. This experience is analyzed taking into account three fundamental characteristics: 1) the housing policy is implemented by a self-sufficient municipal entity that maintains a fluid relationship with the Municipality, 2) the housing policy is strongly articulated with adequate production management of urban land well located and served and 3) the Municipal Housing Entity has developed an agile and highly efficient management model.La ciudad de Montecristo, ubicada en la Provincia de Córdoba –Argentina– es un pequeño centro poblado que forma parte del Área Metropolitana de Córdoba y se encuentra inserta en una zona de alta productividad cuya base económica es la producción agrícola e industrial. La iniciativa de conformar un círculo de ahorro para acceder a la vivienda surge como respuesta a la demanda habitacional planteada por el crecimiento demográfico de la ciudad. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Escuela de Arquitectura - UNRNWalking the Camino de Santiago became popular after the movie "The Way" with Emilio Estévez and Martin Sheen, some good documentaries, and the book by Paulo Coelho, which I haven't read, but I must credit it with motivating a large number of pilgrims to put on their boots, grab a hat, staff, and backpack, and devour miles on the way to the final resting place of the Apostle Saint James.
The Camino de Santiago isn't just one; there are many. There's the traditional French Way from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, more than 900 km. crossing northern Spain; or the Portuguese Way, in its two variants: the central and the coastal, more than 600 km. from Lisbon along the Roman Road and into Galicia. There's also the Vía de la Plata, the Northern Way, the Primitive Way, and so on.
But I am convinced that even if you walk the same path as the thousands who came before you and feast your eyes on the same yellow arrows as previous pilgrims, there are as many Caminos as there are pilgrims. Each path is unique and personal, and this experience is fruitful according to the disposition we bring to it. Escuela de Arquitectura - UNRNThis work is born from the question about the possibility of building a graphic narrative — in the key of a diagram, we might add — about a town in the Upper Valley of Río Negro (AVRN from now on), understanding this territorial section as a historical territorial construct whose birth can be recognized with the 1879 Expedition to the Desert commanded by Gen. Julio Argentino ROCA; and the town of Fiske Menuco, the original name of General Roca City, is chosen as a case capable of being replicated in the rest of the towns in the AVRN.
We start from some basic assumptions. The first of these is that Patagonia recognizes one or more foundational myths, but these have changed as knowledge of that mythical land was gained. A brief tour of these images will allow us to glimpse the distance between imagination and reality.
The second issue is that each AVRN town must be thought of as a piece of the extended metropolis that is configured with the string of valley cities and the Metropolitan Area of Neuquén (Vapnarsky and Pantelides, 1987); but moreover, this microregion and its towns can only be conceived, understood, and managed insofar as the adapted environmental support of which they are a part is included.
This exercise in territorial thought and representation that we propose becomes necessary insofar as the AVRN is going through a stage of territorial imbalance (Pérez, 2020 and Basualdo, 2022) where processes are verified that clearly show the mismatch that exists between the current territorial model and social needs. Taking the town of Fiske Menuco as an example, we venture to build a synthetic territorial representation that serves as an input to discuss the path toward the necessary territorial reconfiguration.trueEste trabajo nace a partir de la pregunta sobre la posibilidad de construir un relato gráfico – en clave de diagrama podríamos agregar – sobre una localidad del Alto Valle de Río Negro (AVRN de ahora en adelante), entendiendo a este recorte territorial como un constructo territorial histórico cuyo nacimiento puede reconocerse con la Expedición al Desierto de 1879 comandada por el Gral. Julio Argentino ROCA; y se elige a la localidad de Fiske Menuco, nombre originario de la Ciudad General Roca, como caso capaz de ser replicado en el resto de las localidades del AVRN. Partimos de algunos supuestos básicos, el primero de ellos es que
la Patagonia reconoce uno o más mitos fundacionales, pero estos fueron cambiando en la medida que se ganaba conocimiento de esa tierra mítica. Y un breve recorrido por estas imágenes nos permitirá entrever la distancia entre imaginación y realidad.La segunda cuestión es que cada localidad del AVRN debe pensarse como una pieza de la metrópoli extendida que se configura con el rosario de ciudades valletanas y el AM de
Neuquén (Vapnarsky y Pantelides, 1987); pero más aún, esta microrregión y sus localidades solo pueden ser pensadas, comprendidas y gestionadas en la medida que se incluya el soporte ambiental adaptado del que forma parte. Y este ejercicio de pensamiento y representación territorial que nos proponemos se to rnanecesario en la medida que el AVRN está transitando una etapa de desequilibrio territorial (Pérez, 2020 y Basualdo, 2022) en donde se verifican procesos que muestran a las claras el desajuste que existe entre el modelo territorial actual y las necesidades sociales; tomando como ejemplo la localidad de Fiske Menuco nos animamos a construir una representación territorial sintética que sirva de insumo para discutir el camino hacia la necesaria reconfiguración territorial

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
