This research aims to reveal the meaning conveyed by the author through signs in the novel Iola using theory of Riffaterre's semiotics. The method used, Semiotics of Riffaterre, sees a literary works as a semiotic phenomenon. In that method, there are four things that should be considered in understanding a literary work, i.e. a poem or literary work that expresses something indirectly, heuristic and hermeneutic reading, matrix, model, and variance, and hypogram in the literary work. Data are taken from pia, a novel written by Titis Basino P.I.

No full textThe study of microbial associations in the underground environment is extremely interesting because
they are the energetic and thus trophic base for caves. In the present paper the first studies related to the
Stella-Basino karst system are reported. This research is part of the wider Life-Gypsum project. Thanks to the
modern technique of genetic amplification it was possible to achieve a good degree of bacteria identification.
These first data are compared with those obtained with traditional methods in the Novella Cave and in the
Farneto spring (in the Gypsum outcrop near Bologna) a few years ago. At the end of the research a complete
microbiological data-base of this cave will be available. At the present stage the first results suggest that the
environment of the underground river is rather good

membangun novel Jala karya Titis Basino; (2) mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai sosial
dalam novel Jala karya Titis Basino.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam mengkaji novel Jala karya Titis
Basino adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus
terpancang. Objek penelitian ini adalah nilai-nilai sosial dalam novel Jala karya
Titis Basino yang diterbitkan oleh Yayasan Bentang Budaya. Teknik
pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pustaka, simak, dan
catat. Validitas data menggunakan triangulasi data. Teknik analisis data
menggunakan metode pembacaan model semiotik yakni pembacaan heuristik dan
hermeneutik.
Hasil: (1) Analisis struktur terhadap novel Jala karya Titis Basino
menyimpulkan bahwa tema dari novel Jala karya Titis Basino adalah kehidupan
sosial masyarakat urban yang miskin di perkampungan kumuh sepanjang bantaran
sungai. Alur dibuat dengan alur maju, tokoh utama adalah Mariati, sedangkan
tokoh minor adalah Pamuji dan Juwita. Latar tempat di Jakarta, Bekasi, dan
Brebes. Latar waktu sekitar tahun 1984 hingga masa reformasi tahun 1998. Latar
sosial menggambarkan kawasan pinggiran sungai di Jakarta. (2) Nilai sosial
yang terdapat dalam novel Jala, yaitu nilai kasih sayang, nilai tanggung jawab,
dan nilai keserasian hidup. Nilai kasih sayang terdiri dari cinta dan kasih sayang,
pengabdian, tolong-menolong, kekeluargaan, dan kepedulian. Nilai sosial
tanggung jawab terdiri dari rasa menerima dan memiliki, pelaksanaan kewajiban,
dan kedisiplinan. Selanjutnya nilai keserasian hidup terdiri dari nilai keadilan,
toleransi, kerjasama, dan demokrasi. (3) Implikasi nilai-nilai sosial dalam novel
Jala karya Titis Basino dalam pembelajaran sastra di SMA didasarkan standar
kompetensi membaca yang termuat Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan
(KTSP) pada pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia kelas XI. Standar kompetensi ini
menuntut siswa mampu menggunakan berbagai teknik membaca untuk
memahami wacana karya sastra. Kompetensi dasar yang harus dicapai adalah
siswa mampu membandingkan unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik novel. Nilai sosial
yang dapat dijadikan tauladan adalah nilai kasih sayang, tanggung jawab, dan
keserasian hidup dalam bermasyarakat

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
