Construction of the 2024 Presidential Candidate Campaign on the Mata Najwa YouTube Channel
Full text linkThe General Election ended on February 14, 2024, the Indonesian public is waiting for an official announcement from the General Election Commission (Komisi Pemilihan Umum). Previously, during the campaign period, after the campaign and waiting for the decision, news about the election, especially the Presidential Campaign, was widely discussed in the media, including YouTube.Najwa Shihab's YouTube channel, broadcast “Jejak Kampanye Capres 2024” (Traces of the 2024 Presidential Candidate Campaign) before the election was held. The content is divided into "Intro", "Jejak Kampanye Anis Baswedan", "Jejak Kampanye Prabowo Subianto", "Jejak Kampanye Ganjar Pranowo", and "Closing".By using Entman’s framing analysis, the research results that Mata Najwa is trying to remain neutral, provides a political identity or image for each presidential candidate that can influence people in choosing. But, even though she looks neutral, Mata Najwa positions the 2nd presidential candidate, Prabowo, as looking more relaxed and better prepared for the Presidential Election this time. Prabowo's style and strategy might be still old, but it turns out he is able to give his own image with the "contemporary" term, and is not owned by other Presidential Candidates. This image seems to have just appeared, not part of a previous strategic plan

This web series consists of 8 (eight) episodes and was frst broadcast on the YouTube channel on January 31, 2017, with more than 2 million viewers. Sponsored by Tropicana Slim, this web series brings out an element of feminism in which the female fgure, Sore, can control and even change the life of a man, Jo, for the better. The research used the reception analysis method and Stuart Hall’s Encoding-Decoding theory by taking 5 (fve) informants. The result of this research is the fve informants viewed the position of women and men as equal, although sometimes women hold power (domination) over men, men can also do the same thing

Salah satu judulnya, SORE-Istri dari Masa Depan, bercerita tentang Sore, seorang time traveller, yang datang ke masa lalu untuk menemui Jo, laki-laki yang bakal menjadi suaminya kelak. SORE-Istri dari Masa Depan ini juga menjadi salah satu web series Indonesia yang ditonton oleh lebih dari 2 juta viewers sejak episode pertama. Penelitian ini mempergunakan teori feminisme untuk melihat bagaimana feminis yang muncul dan tergambarkan dalam web series ini. Sedangkan metode yang dipergunakan adalah analisis wacana dari Sara Mills, yang melihat bagaimana posisi subjek-objek dan penulis-pembaca digambarkan melalui web series ini. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah menjadi seorang perempuan berarti lebih sadar akan hidup sehat dibandingkan dengan laki-laki; memiliki kuasa untuk mengatur hidup laki-laki, merubahnya menjadi lebih baik, lebih sehat; dan lebih bisa mengkampanyekan “Hidup Sehat” dibandingkan laki-laki

Full text linkIsu Mahakamah Keluarga menjadi isu yang banyak dibicarakan diruang publik dan menjadi pemberitaan pada beberapa media, baik di media cetak, elektronik, maupun media online. Hal ini terjadi setelah putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi tentang batasan usia minimal calon presiden (capres) dan calon wakil presiden (cawapres).Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komparasi pemberitaaan terkait isu mahkamah keluarga yang terdapat pada Detik.com dan Kompas.com. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, paradigma konstruktivis, dengan analisis framing model Robert N. Entman. Adapun unit analisis terdiri dari 4 (empat) berita di Detik.com dan 4 (empat) berita di Kompas.com pada periode waktu Oktober-November 2023.Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah dalam beberapa berita terlihat kesamaan dalam memperkirakan masalah atau sumber masalah (diagnose cause) yaitu keterlibatan Anwar Usman selaku ketua Mahkamah Konstitusi dalam memutus perkara menjadi penyebab utama dari isu Mahkamah Keluarga terjadi. Detik.com membingkai pemberitaan Isu Mahkamah Keluarga dengan tidak memposisikan sebagai media yang kritis. Sedangkan Kompas.com menunjukan posisi sebagai media yang kritis terhadap keputusan Mahkamah Konstitusi tersebut
Analysis of Robert Entman's Framing in The Netflix's Documentary Film “Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso”
Full text linkJessica Kumala Wongso suddenly became a “celebrity” because of the murder case she was accused of in 2016. In 2023, after more than 5 years since the case was decided by the court, the Netflix reconstruct this case in a documentary film “Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso”. This research wants to see the media construction by using Robert Entman's framing analysis model, which have some categorizations: Issue Selection and Highlighting of Certain Aspects of the Issue, Define Problems, Diagnose Causes, Make Moral Judgment and Treatment Recommendations. The results show that the media constructs messages by taking opinions and statements from various sources; before, during, and after the trial process ends. This documentary does not side with or against Mirna or Jessica, but rather highlights how the criminal justice system in Indonesia actually works. This film highlights what the criminal justice system, really is in Indonesia. The victim here is not only Mirna (if there is a case), but also Jessica as a victim of injustice in the criminal justice system in Indonesia, and the Indonesian people because the public in general has the right to know how the situation actually happened. When connected to the Sustainable Development Goals, it can be seen that one of element at number 16, Justice, is still a concern, especially in Indonesi
INTERPRETASI KHALAYAK TENTANG PROPAGANDA NAZI DALAM FILM “Inglorious Basterds”
Full text linkMengenang sejarah Jerman akan selalu tertuju pada Perang Dunia II dan sosok pemimpinnya yaitu Adolf Hitler, melalui propaganda NAZI-nya. Beberapa media mengangkat mengenai Hitler dan Propaganda NAZI-nya ke dalam berbagai bentuk, salah satunya adalah media film. Salah satunya adalah film “Inglorious Basterds” yang dirilis pada 16 Oktober 2009.Tujuan riset ini adalah untuk mengetahui reaksi dan interpretasi khalayak muda terhadap propaganda NAZI dalam film “Inglorious Basterds” secara keseluruhan dan bagaimana efek dan dampaknya ke dalam pembentukan propaganda dunia media.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode yang digunakan adalah analisis resepsi. Metode ini dipilih oleh peneliti karena peneliti ingin menganalisa interpretasi individu-individu dari narasumber yang sudah terpilih. Adapun data yang dipergunakan adalah wawancara mendalam.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para informan dapat menginterpretasikan pesan propaganda NAZI dalam film ‘Inglorious Basterds’ dengan baik serta dapat dengan mudah menerima dan mendapatkan ilmu tentang pengunaan sebuah propaganda. Selain itu para penonton juga memperoleh banyak informasi yang berguna, terutama bagi para khalayak agar tidak mudah termanipulasi oleh sebuah propaganda dan dapat menghindari penghasutan dari berbagai pihak yang memiliki tujuan yang negatif
FEMINISME EKSISTENSIALIS TOKOH KATNISS EVERDEEN DALAM SERIAL FILM THE HUNGER GAMES (ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA ROLAND BARTHES)
Full text linkKatniss Everdeen was the main role in film franchise “The Hunger Games” who had done her mission fight against The Capitol. Katniss Everdeen was a girl, who was capable to actualize herself, she knew which one she should choice for her best. This character (girl) that was aware of her freedom made me interested to make a research from existentialist feminism’s side, using semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes that had two significance orders, denotative and connotative, which was in connotative order would be more explored the hidden ideology (Barthes named it mythology). The final conclusion of this research indicated that there was socialist-communist ideology where lower-class citizen (indirectly under Katniss’s order) won the rebellion against government’s injustice.Keywords: Existentialist feminism, Film, Semiotic Analysis of Roland Barthes
DIGITAL MEDIA LITERACY: SOCIALIZATION OF THE USE OF SIAPP
No full textGovernment agencies and institutions are now entering the digital space. One such government agency is the Government Officials Administration Bureau (APP Bureau), which is included in the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg). The APP Bureau operates a Government Officials Administration Information System (SIAPP) that supports the work processes within the APP Bureau, which is tasked with administering the appointment and dismissal of government officials and other officials, as well as the promotion and dismissal of civil servants. The existence of SIAPP may currently be unknown to the public, especially Gen Z, who currently comprise the largest number of internet users.By promoting the use of SIAPP, it is hoped that the target audience will gain information and understand how government agencies carry out their duties and functions. Furthermore, this activity also relates to digital media literacy, which is deemed necessary for the public to be wise in using digital media. The target audience here is students from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Mercu Buana University, who are part of Gen Z, the largest number of internet users today.The outputs of this activity are increased public knowledge, improved community values, publication of scientific articles, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), articles in the mass media and activity videos published through the Mercu Buana University YouTube channel
