The development of lexical competence in the Portuguese language curriculum for the final years of Elementary School: guiding documents of Brazilian basic education, textbooks and an applied teaching proposal in the classroom
No full textHistoricamente, o ensino do léxico em Português - Língua Materna (PLM) priorizou a análise do significado das unidades lexicais por meio de atividades com listas de palavras e suas relações semânticas, como sinonímia, antonímia e ambiguidade. Entretanto a abordagem dos aspectos semânticos, gramaticais e discursivos das unidades lexicais deveria ser o centro das atividades de ensino de vocabulário. Com base em princípios da Lexicologia e da Semântica Lexical (BIDERMAN, 1978; POLGUÈRE, 2018; ULLMANN, 1964) e dos estudos sobre ensino-aprendizagem do léxico (ANTUNES, 2012; LEFFA, 2000; NATION, 2003; RICHARDS, 1976), nesta dissertação, analisam-se os dois principais documentos norteadores da educação básica brasileira, os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (BRASIL, 1998) e a Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BRASIL, 2018), e dois livros didáticos de Português voltados a alunos do 9º ano: Português: conexões e usos (DELMANTO, CARVALHO, 2018) e Teláris Essencial: Português (TRINCONI, BERTIN e MARCHEZI, 2022). Complementam-se essas análises com propostas de atividades de leitura e de produção de textos para desenvolver a competência lexical dos estudantes. Nos PCN, embora se reconheça a importância do estudo do léxico para a ampliação da competência discursiva dos estudantes, ele está atrelado à categoria de \"prática de análise linguística\", sendo dissociado das práticas que envolvem a escuta de textos orais, a leitura de textos escritos e a produção de textos orais e escritos. De maneira semelhante, na BNCC, nos objetivos, ressalta-se a relevância da análise contextual no estudo do léxico. Todavia, o léxico não é um objeto de estudo em si, já que a referência a ele está no complemento da habilidade. Na análise das seções de leitura dos livros didáticos, observa-se que, em \"Português: Conexão e Uso\", há um número maior de atividades voltadas ao estudo do léxico em comparação com \"Teláris Essencial: Português\". Ademais, enquanto, na primeira obra, o léxico é abordado em diversos campos; em \"Teláris\", é tratado principalmente no campo artístico-literário. Quanto às dimensões da competência lexical, em ambos os livros didáticos analisados, é enfatizada a dimensão semântica, há pouca profundidade na abordagem da dimensão gramatical, e a discursiva é tratada superficialmente. Nas atividades de produção de textos, enfatiza-se ainda menos o léxico nas duas obras. Com essas análises, identificaram-se lacunas no que se refere ao ensino proposto para o desenvolvimento da competência lexical dos estudantes. Por isso, apresentam-se, neste trabalho, atividades com abordagem contextualizada e considerando a pluridimensionalidade do léxico. Foram elaboradas uma proposta de análise do conto Olhos dÁgua, de Conceição Evaristo, e uma de produção de um conto autobiográfico. Na dimensão semântica, enfatizam-se atividades sobre o entendimento e o emprego de metáforas e de palavras de um mesmo campo lexical. O uso de estruturas gramaticais e os significados obtidos com o emprego de determinados modos e tempos verbais são enfocados no tratamento da dimensão gramatical. A dimensão discursiva é abordada através do estudo de elementos sócio-histórico-culturais materializados nas escolhas lexicais. Espera-se que esta dissertação possa contribuir para o aperfeiçoamento dos materiais didáticos de PLM e para que os professores incrementem o trabalho com o livro didáticoThroughout history, teaching lexis in Portuguese as a first language prioritized the analysis of the meaning of lexical units through word-list activities and their semantic relationships, such as synonymy, antonymy, and ambiguity. However, addressing the semantic, grammatical, and discursive aspects of lexical units should be the center of vocabulary teaching activities. According to the principles of Lexicology and Lexical Semantics (BIDERMAN, 1978; POLGUÈRE, 2018; ULLMANN, 1964), as well as studies about teaching-learning of lexis (ANTUNES, 2012; LEFFA, 2000; NATION, 2003; RICHARDS, 1976), in this research it is analyzed two main guiding documents of Brazilian basic education, the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (BRASIL, 1998), the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BRASIL, 2018) and two Portuguese textbooks designed for 9th grade students: Português: conexões e usos (DELMANTO, CARVALHO, 2018) and Teláris Essencial: Português (TRINCONI, BERTIN e MARCHEZI, 2022). These analyses are complemented with proposals for reading and text production activities to develop students\' lexical competence. Nonetheless, although at the PCN the importance of studying the lexicon for expanding students discursive competence is recognized, it is linked to the category of linguistic analysis practice, being dissociated from practices that involve listening to oral texts, reading written texts, and production of oral and written texts. Conversely, according to the BNCC, the relevance of contextual analysis in the study of the lexicon is highlighted. Nevertheless, the lexicon is not an object of study in itself; instead, it is referenced in the complement of the skill. In the analysis of reading sections from the textbooks, it is observed that, in \"Português: Conexão e Uso\", there is a greater number of activities aimed at studying the lexicon if compared to \"Teláris Essencial: Português\". Additionally, while the first work explores the lexicon in various fields, Teláris, on the other hand, focuses mainly on the artistic-literary field. Regarding the dimensions of lexical competence, in both textbooks analyzed, the semantic dimension is emphasized. However, there is little depth in the approach to the grammatical dimension, and the discursive dimension is treated superficially. In text production activities, there is even less emphasis on the lexicon in both works. Through these analyses, gaps were identified regarding the proposed teaching for the development of students lexical competence. Therefore, in this work, activities are presented with a contextualized approach, and considering the multidimensionality of the lexicon. For instance, it was designed an analysis for the short story Olhos dÁgua, by Conceição Evaristo, in addition to writing an autobiographical short story task. In the semantic field, activities were created with the aim of understanding and using metaphors and words from the same lexical field. The use of grammatical structures and the meanings obtained through the use of certain verbal modes and tenses is focused on addressing the grammatical dimension. The discursive dimension is approached through the study of socio-historical-cultural elements materialized in lexical choices. It is expected that this research may contribute to the improvement of Portuguese as a first language teaching materials and assist teachers in enhancing their work with the textbook
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
