Recursive identification of errors-in-variables models with correlated output noise

The identification of Errors-in-variables (EIV) models refers to systems where the available measurements of their inputs and outputs are corrupted by additive noise. A large variety of solutions are
available when dealing with this estimation problem, in particular when the corrupting noises are white
processes. However, the number of available solutions decreases when the output noise is assumed as
a colored process, which is a case of great practical interest. On the other hand, many applications
require estimation algorithms to work on-line, tracking a dynamical system behavior for control, signal
processing, or diagnosis. In many cases, they even have to take into account computational constraints.
In this paper, we propose an estimation method that is able to both lay out an algorithm to solve
the identification problem of EIV systems with arbitrarily correlated output nois
Identification of noisy input-output FIR models with colored output noise
This paper deals with the identification of FIR models corrupted by white input noise and
colored output noise. An identification algorithm that exploits the properties of both the dynamic Frisch
scheme and the high-order Yule-Walker (HOYW) equations is proposed. It is shown how the HOYW
equations allow to define a selection criterion for identifying the input noise variance (and then the FIR
coefficients) within the Frisch locus of solutions. The proposed approach does not require any a priori knowledge about the input and output noise variances. The algorithm performance is assessed by means of Monte Carlo simulations
"Trevisan nel territorio"
Il saggio analizza lo sviluppo coerente della ricerca letteraria di Vitaliano Trevisan nel passaggio da "Tristissimi giardini" (2010) a "Works" (2016), con particolare attenzione per i problemi connessi ai temi del territorio e del lavoro. L'opera di Trevisan viene letta in rapporto all'opera del geografo Eugenio Turri ("Il paesaggio come teatro") e alla saggistica pasoliniana, cui Trevisan esplicitamente si ispira
Vitaliano Trevisan. L'autore come personaggio
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Aleksandr Rodčenko: fotografie dallo VCHUTEMAS
VKhUTEMAS in Moscow experienced a unique co-existence of different genres and stylistic expressions of the twentieth century, one of the most important of which was photography. This is due largely to Aleksandr Rodchenko, versatile artist, who in 1924 switched from graphics to photography, an activity that he remained committed to until the end of his days. In 1928 VKhUTEMAS started the first known photography course for young designers. The lectures program, written by Rodchenko himself, included both laboratory exercises – such as experiments with impressions of objects and their shadows on photosensitive paper – as well as outdoor activities – like reportages on individuals, often taken incognito, or different aspects and phenomena of city life. In the same period, Rodchenko also began to document the activity of VKhUTEMAS with a series of shots almost unknown to the public at large. Rodchenko’s school of photography was based
on three pillars. In the first place, composition, which he understood as a reasoned system that accommodates different details with a similar design approach. Then, a prominent socio-cultural and documentary function, whose aim is to address a sympathising gaze to all human activities. Finally, a continue experimentation, supported by mastery of light and optics as figurative and compositional tools. The originality of Rodchenko’s photos is due to the foreshortening principle, defined as a reduction of forms to a minimum and unusual perspective, usually from the top or bottom, allowing the viewer to understand different facets of reality. The foreshortenings are perceived in terms of general categories such as shape, structure, space and rhythm, as well as non-figurative compositions: for this same reason Rodchenko claimed to practice a non-objective, abstract photography. And this, also within the conviction that the earlier possibilities of painting in documenting an event, exploited successfully in the past, were now put into practice much more efficiently by photograph
Constrained global types for dynamic checking of protocol conformance in multi-agent systems
Global types are behavioral types for specifying and verifying
multiparty interactions between distributed components,
inspired by the process algebra approach.
In this paper we extend the formalism of global types in
multi-agent systems resulted from our previous work with a
mechanism for easily expressing constrained shue of message
sequences; accordingly, we extend the semantics to include
the newly introduced feature, and show the expressive
power of these constrained global types"
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
