In this frame of the techniques for the treatment of data coming from GPS measurements, some of the formulae, currently available in the literature, on the transformation from the cartesian orthogonal reference frame to the ellipsoidal one are presented, analyzed and discussed as far as the relevant reachable precision and computing time are concerned. The relation connecting the covariance matrix of the cartesian orthogonal coordinates to the corresponding one relevant to the transformed ellipsoidal coordinates is also illustrated. -English summar

Digital Photogrammetry and Laser Range Camera for Physic Model Geometry Determination
In this work we present a comparison between two different techniques to generate a DEM of a sample mould. In the first part an automatic extraction of object’s DEM from orthophotos is performed using the digital photogrammetric software OrthoEngine by PCI, while in the second part the mould is scanned by a laser range camera (BIRIS), by which the range data are directly acquired in a computer readable form.
Then, the resulting DEMs are compared through Surfer software in order to evaluate the accuracy achievable from these techniques in 3D object model reconstruction

Processing of high resolution satellite data for map updating
The paper addresses the use of high resolution satellite imagery for map updating at technical scale (1:5,000). QuickBird and Ikonos images acquired on a wide portion of the city of Bologna (Italy) were rectified using the available geometric correction models, a Digital Elevation Model of the area and a set of Ground Control Points acquired by GPS survey. Once the reliability of the orthorectification procedure was verified by using a subset of GPS points, an
attempt of features extraction was carried out in order to update entities or thematisms of the present-day cartography. An example relative to the road network updating will be discussed
