    Modello analogico di meccanismi eruttivi

    No full text

Global well-posedness and interior regularity of 2D Navier–Stokes equations with stochastic boundary conditions

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the global well-posedness and the interior regularity of the 2D Navier–Stokes equations with inhomogeneous stochastic boundary conditions. The noise, white in time and coloured in space, can be interpreted as the physical law describing the driving mechanism on the atmosphere–ocean interface, i.e. as a balance of the shear stress of the ocean and the horizontal wind force.Analysi

A survey of cherry leaf roll virus in intensively managed grafted english (Persian) walnut trees in Italy

    No full text
Blackline disease, caused by Cherry leaf roll virus (CLRV), is considered a serious threat limiting English walnut (Juglans regia) production in Italy and the EU if walnut species other than J. regia e.g. ‘Paradox’ hybrid (J. regia × J. hindsii), French hybrid (J. regia × J. major or J. regia × J. nigra) or northern California black walnut (J. hindsii) are used as the rootstock. The virus transmissibility by pollen as well as latent infections can result in the spread of CLRVcontaminated propagative material, which is a major means of the virus dispersal by human activities. In 2014 and 2015 to ascertain the presence and the distribution of blackline symptoms in commercial orchards and to provide a description of the symptomatology, visual inspections and double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (DAS-ELISA) analyses were carried out on 1,684 walnut trees in four different intensively managed grafted English walnut orchards in northeast Italy (Veneto Region). Trees with clear blackline symptoms at the scion-rootstock junction, often associated with general decline of the plant, were found only in one commercial orchard in northeast Italy on trees older than ten years of cvs. ‘Tulare’ and ‘Chandler’, grafted onto ‘Paradox’ rootstock. To our knowledge this is the first report of CLRV (blackline) decline and death in a commercial walnut orchard in Italy

Model-independent cosmographic constraints from DESI 2024

Context. We explore model-independent constraints on the Universe kinematics up to the snap and jerk hierarchical terms, considering the latest baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) release provided by the DESI collaboration.Aims. We intend to place novel and more stringent constraints on the cosmographic series, incorporating three combinations of data catalogs: the first made by BAO and observational cosmic chronometers, the second made by BAO and type Ia supernovae, and the last including all the cited data sets.Methods. Considering the latest BAO data provided by the DESI collaboration and tackling the rd parameter to span within the range [144,152] Mpc, with a fixed step of δrd = 2 Mpc, we employed Monte Carlo Markov chain analyses based on the Metropolis algorithm to fix novel bounds on the cosmographic series, fixing the deceleration, q0 , the jerk, j0 , and the snap, s0, parameters, up to the 2σ level. A comparison between the results of the Planck satellite with those obtained by the DESI collaboration is also reported.Results. Our findings showcase a significant departure in terms of j0 even at the 1σ confidence level, albeit compatible with the ACDM paradigm in regard to q0 and s0 at the 2σ level. Analogously, the h0 tension appears alleviated in the second hierarchy when including snap.Conclusions. Our method excludes models that significantly depart from the standard cosmological model. Particularly, direct comparisons with the ACDM and wCDM models and the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parameterisation are explored, which definitively favour the wCDM scenario over other approaches, contradicting the findings of the original DESI collaboration.Key words: cosmological parameters / cosmology: theory / dark energy / distance scale / large-scale structure of Universe★ Corresponding author; [email protected]

The article following a solicitation by Gennaro Luongo, recently deceased, deals with the hagiographic dossier of Agnese. The author traces it between history and legend, literary documents and monumental evidences, iconography and devotional practices. This allows her to highlight the transformations (modifications) and continuous re-functionalizations of the character, as well as to advance some hypotheses on/regarding the reasons that presided over these continuous re-reading processes

BACKGROUND:: We investigated Quality of Life (QoL) and Johnsson & DeMeester score of patients after Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication. MATERIALS AND METHODS:: From January 2007 to June 2008, 43 patients with chronic gastroesophageal reflux underwent laparoscopic Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication; 7 were lost during the follow-up. Patients underwent endoscopy, 24-hour pH-metry, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease-Health-Related Quality-of-Life (GERD-HRQL), and Short Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaires preoperatively, 6 months, and 12 months after surgery. RESULTS:: Endoscopic findings revealed complete healing of esophagitis in all patients. Barrett esophagus was still present. Six patients reported persistence of symptoms but postoperative pH-metry and endoscopy showed the absence of reflux; 2 patients (5.5%) were still on proton pump inhibitor therapy at 12 months. Seven patients (19.4%) reported dysphagia for solids for at least 3 months. Readmission for dysphagia was required for 2 (5.5%) and 1 patient underwent endoscopic dilatation. At 6 and 12 months, no dysphagia was reported. During the follow-up, no gas-bloat syndrome was reported. The Johnsson & DeMeester score and QoL measurement obtained from GERD-HRQL and SF-36 revealed a significant improvement in the related domain. At 6 months, 23 patients (63.8%) were completely satisfied and after 12 months, 30 patients (83.3%) were satisfied. CONCLUSIONS:: Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication is safe and effective for the treatment of GERD, improving QoL. Copyright © 2012 by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins

Intraperitoneal Oxygen/Ozone Treatment Decreases the Formation of Experimental Postsurgical Peritoneal Adhesions and the Levels/Activity of the Local Ubiquitin-Proteasome System

We have investigated whether an oxygen/ozone (95%O2/5%O3) mixture would have potential against the formation of experimental postsurgical peritoneal adhesions. In two groups of rats, one control intraperitoneally injected with 3 mL/rat of O2 and one intraperitoneally injected with oxygen/ozone mixture (3 mL/rat equivalent to 300 μg/kg ozone), we induced a midline laparotomy and an enterotomy at the level of the ileum to encourage the formation of peritoneal adhesions. Samples were taken from the parietal peritoneal tissue to assess the formation of adhesions 0 and 10 days after the surgical procedure and to assess the levels of ubiquitin and 20S proteasome. We found decreased formation of postsurgical peritoneal adhesions after treatment of the rats with 300 μg/kg ozone associated with a decreased levels of ubiquitin and 20S proteasome subunit within the adhered tissue. Oxygen/ozone mixture is potentially useful for approaching the post-surgical peritoneal adhesions, and the UPS system is involved in this

1, 2-5; Eus., L. Const. 14, 5)

The aim of this paper is to analyze both sections of Clement of Alexandria’s Protrepticus (1, 2-5) and Eusebius of Caesarea’s Laus Constantini (14, 5) in which Christian authors allude to the figure of Orpheus, in light of the so-called orphic traditions attested in Greco-Roman culture (including Jewish and Proto-Christian groups). The methodological background from which the analysis starts is the concept of «indigenization», a well-known category debated in contemporary anthropological research. In this article, the author compares the Christian texts under analysis with other Greco-Roman treatments of the figure of Orpheus, as well as with archaeological remains representing a male figure (identified with Orpheus by scholars, often with no decisive arguments) in the meanwhile he is tranquilizing beasts with his music. The comparison with such elements appears as really central in this essay: the musical imagery employed by Clement and Eusebius emerges as a specific discursive practice in order to carry out a program of indigenization as regards the Christian ideological proprium. As an alternative to the traditional interpretation of such texts in light of the so-called Orphic representations attested in Greco-Roman contexts (including Jewish and Proto-Christian remains), scholastic debates concerning music appear as a sort of ‘natural background’ in light of which it is possible to contextualize Clement and Eusebius’ discursive practices

Gilda Luongo holds a PhD in Literature from Universidad de Chile. She is a writer and educator, feminist activist, critic and researcher. Her research has focused on Latin American writing concerning sexual difference, feminism, memory, art, education and politics. She lives in Santiago (Chile) and has adult children –a son and a daughter. In August 2018 she agreed to a written interview with us, which led to extensive and deep reflections. Here we share an extract of that interview. Our written exchange with the author is part of a larger exploration of motherhood/non motherhood experiences of feminists from the South, through which we seek to reveal isotopes, recurrences, similarities and differences. We are interested in understanding how their feminist activism has been a tool for dealing with the ordeals of hetero-patriarchal motherhood, but also a source of tensions/ambivalence. As feminists raising young children, we are committed to the imperative of (re)constructing feminist maternal genealogies in our latitudes, so that we can envision freer and more fulfilling horizons for our motherhood and non-motherhood experiences.

Partial or Total Fundoplication (With or Without Division of the Short Gastric Vessels): Which is The Best Laparoscopic Choice in GERD Surgical Treatment?

    No full text
Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) has emerged as one of the most common diseases in the modern civilization. The immense success of laparoscopic surgery as an effective treatment of GERD has established the minimally invasive surgery as the gold standard for this condition with lower morbidity and mortality, shorter hospital stay, faster recovery, and reduced postoperative pain. Methods: Articles were sourced from PubMed and Medline, using the MeSH terms "gastroesophageal reflux disease" and "laparoscopic surgery" and "fundoplication technique." The selection of articles was based on peer review, journal, relevance, and English language. Results and Conclusions: There are some controversies with regard to the technique. First, whether total or partial fundoplication is the more appropriate treatment for GERD; second, if a total fundoplication (360 degrees) is performed, what is the effect of fundic mobilization and the division of short gastric vessels. In this review article the authors evaluate the most recent articles to establish the parameters for a "gold standard technique" in antireflux surgery
