Omówiony został ich wkład do badań nad przyczynami i sposobami łagodzenia ubóstwa na świecie, a przede wszystkim wkład do rozwoju badań eksperymentalnych w naukach społecznych wykorzystujących schemat randomizowanych badań kontrolowanych (RCT). W tym kontekście autorzy wyjaśniają także przyczyny wzrostu popularności podejścia eksperymentalnego w ekonomii rozwoju oraz omawiają jego silne strony i ograniczenia.The article presents scientific achievements of Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize Laureates
in economic sciences in 2019: Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee, and Michael Kremer. The paper describes their contribution to the research on the sources of poverty in the world
and the ways of alleviating it, and their contribution to the development of experimental
research in social sciences using randomized control trials (RCT). In this context, the
authors explain the reasons for growing popularity of this approach in development
economics and discuss its strengths and weaknesses

No full textThe author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.Problem mieszkaniowy w Afryce jest jednym z wyzwań, które należy rozwiązać, aby Afrykanie mogli odzyskać godność życiową i zabezpieczyć swoje prawa do tradycyjnego życia rodzinnego w akceptowalnych warunkach. W artykule opisano badania nad typowymi rozproszonymi strukturami miejskimi i potrzebą wspierania tego typu struktur osadniczych oraz propozycji wprowadzenia nowego systemu konstrukcji domów, opartym na lekkim szkielecie stalowym, łączącym tradycyjny sposób budowania domów z nowoczesną technologią. Przypadkiem szczególnie analizowanym jest problem mieszkaniowy w Republice Czadu. Autor przedstawia podstawową dyskusję na ten temat i swoje propozycje architektoniczne. Niestety luka między potrzebami mieszkaniowymi w Czadzie a finansową wykonalnością budownictwa mieszkaniowego w tym obszarze sprawia, że projekt ten, już w punkcie wyjścia, jest niezwykle trudny do realizacji bez uzyskania zewnętrznych dotacji

No full textThe motive for choosing the topic in the presented article is the deep dichotomy between prosperity and poverty that still exists in the modern world. After World War II, this problem did not decrease, given the clear economic, social and political division into highly-, medium- and under-developed countries. The latter in the UN nomenclature are described as “developing” rather than the previously used name: Third World countries. The main aim of the study is to indicate the scientific achievements in these areas of Nobel Prize winners affecting welfare policy and eradication of poverty within the dynamically developing “welfare economics”. Considerations in this regard—in a reasoned way—are preceded by a discussion of the population theory of T. R. Malthus, as well as a presentation of income disparities in the light of the theory of distribution. Even before World War II, the authors V. Pareto, A. C. Pigou and A. Bergson made achievements in analyzing welfare economics in pioneering theoretical studies. Contemporary research on these topics is also presented, which was carried out by last year’s Nobel Prize winners E. Duflo, A. Banerjee and M. R. Kremer dealing with the economics of the development of the poorest countries. An outline of the welfare state concept adopted after World War II in some Western countries is presented. Welfare policy and eradication of poverty in the poorest countries is described, based largely on the results of research by Nobel Prize winners.Motywem wyboru tematu w prezentowanym artykule jest wciąż występująca we współczesnym świecie głęboka dychotomia między dobrobytem a ubóstwem. Po drugiej wojnie światowej problem ten nie zmniejszył się, mając na uwadze występujący wyraźny podział ekonomiczny, społeczny i polityczny na kraje wysoko, średnio i słabo rozwinięte. Te ostatnie w nomenklaturze ONZ określane są jako „rozwijające” wobec poprzednio używanej nazwy: kraje Trzeciego Świata. Głównym celem opracowania jest wskazanie na dorobek naukowy w tych dziedzinach noblistów mających wpływ na politykę dobrobytu i zwalczania ubóstwa w ramach dynamicznie rozwijającej się „ekonomii dobrobytu”. Rozważania w tym zakresie – w sposób zasadny – poprzedzono omówieniem teorii ludnościowej T.R. Malthusa, a także przedstawieniem zróżnicowań dochodów w świetle teorii podziału. Osiągnięcia ekonomii dobrobytu w prekursorskich opracowaniach teoretycznych jeszcze przed drugą wojną światową odnoszą się do autorów V. Pareto, A.C. Pigou i A. Bergsona. Przedstawiono również współczesne badania na te tematy przeprowadzone przez ubiegłorocznych noblistów E. Duflo, A. Banerjee i M.R. Kremera, zajmujących się ekonomią rozwoju krajów najuboższych. W zarysie wskazano na przyjętą po drugiej wojnie światowej w części krajów zachodnich koncepcję państwa dobrobytu. Przedstawiono politykę dobrobytu i zwalczania ubóstwa w najuboższych krajach, opartą w dużej mierze na rezultatach badań laureatów Nagrody Nobla

Autor wykorzystał nowe zasoby Archiwum Niemieckiego Liberalizmu w Gummersbach, co umożliwiło przedstawienie nowej oceny wpływu FDP na politykę wschodnią Republiki Federalnej Niemiec.The main goal of the article is to analyze the FDP's program activities in the eastern policy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the years 1949-1969. Of great importance here is the fact that the author used in this work new archives from the Archives of German Liberalism in Gummersbach. This enabled him to present a new assessment of the FDP's impact on the eastern policy of the Federal Republic of Germany
