Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Peran Sarana Angkutan Darat Dalam Upaya Peningkatan Efisiensi Distribusi Ternak Dan Hasil Ternak Sapi Potong Di Indonesia
In livestock trading system and cattle product such as meat and other livestock products always involves some businesses that make up the chain of marketing. Tradable commodity that can be distributed right from the producer to the end consumer in the form of live cattle or in the form of livestock product. Distribution activities of livestock and livestock products by land necessarily involves a good means of land transport trains, trucks and other means of land transport. While also involving the various levels of the marketing chain of middlemen village level, large padagang up with retailers. Implementation of the distribution chain between marketing is not just a process of transporting goods. Consistent with the mechanism of the existing business, there will be a new price formation on each node chain path. The longer the chain through which the formation of prices will be higher . Such conditions led to the emergence of the marketing margin distribution on each node marketing chain. The amount of the marketing margin generated between the node is varied, it is largely determined by many things, in addition to the cost of marketing, also the advantage taken by the perpetrator. The study was conducted in East Java and West Java in 2013. Kinerja Pembangunan Pertanian dalam Pelaksanaan Penggunaan Anggaran Tugas Pembantuan (TP) di Wilayah Propinsi Kalimantan Selatan
South Kalimantan province is one of the potential locations for the development of food crops, especially rice. In line with the government especially the central government has tried in earnest to improve the performance of the agricultural development in the region is mainly to do with efforts to increase the harvested area, production, productivity of both rice crops, corn and soybeans. Aid funding through state funds and deconcentration assistance whose purpose is none other than the effort to reach. Fact shows that there are still any barriers, especially in terms of planning and implementation, especially regarding the budget allocation and the allocation of activities that still have not been synchronized. Peran Angkutan Laut dalam Meningkatkan Distribusi Ternak Sapi Potong dari Daerah Produsen ke Wilayah Konsumen
Nationally, there are some areas of the provinces in Indonesia is livestock center including East Nusa Tenggara province. East Nusa Tenggara Governor Decree No. 278/Kep/HK/2011 Deciding that the allocation of large livestock beef to local consumers (West Java, Jakarta and Kalimantan) each of (a) as 55.000 heads of cattle,(b) 7.000 buffalo and (c) 5.000 horse. For transporting live cattle the only means of transportation by ship. Darmaga Tenau in serving the transport of life cattle is still in a simple way. Similarly, in a transit Kalimas. In an effort to decrease the cattle of the ship had been taken in three ways: (a) transported and unloaded from boats using nets, (b) direct the cows are herded through the bridge and (c) using containers. However, in connection with a number of criticisms relating to the principle Animal welfare, inevitably a third pattern to be implemented despite the fact that take a long time and ultimately costs more mahal. This paper is part of the research results of “Efisiensi Moda Transportasi Ternak dan Daging Sapi Dalam Mendukung Program Swasembada Pangan” by the Center for Economic and Agricultural Policy, 2013. Location of the study focused on East Nusa Tenggara and East Java. Keywords: marine transportation, livestock, distribution</jats:p
