Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Da diese Kommunikationsformen sehr unterschiedliche Merkmale und Verwendungen aufweisen, ist es nicht weiter erstaunlich, dass auch die Strategien und Mittel der Anpassung zwischen Kommunikationspartnern anders sind bzw. anders gewichtet werden. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, anhand empirischer Daten zu analysieren, welche Strategien die Chatter entwickeln, um mit dem Computer quasi-synchron und schriftbasiert zu kommunizieren
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textInternational audienceWendungen wie einen kippen, jemandem eine runterhauen und frz. s'en jeter un und en mettre une à quelqu'un sind dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Indefinitpronomen sich weder anaphorisch noch kataphorisch erschließen lässt, der Bezug auf den sprachlichen Kontext also nicht unmittelbar hilfreich zur Erhellung des Ausdrucks ist. Für den Nichtmuttersprachler kommt erschwerend hinzu, dass diese mehrheitlich umgangssprachlichen bzw. salopp-derben Phraseme in den Grammatiken und Standardwerken des Deutschen und Französischen kaum Beachtung finden. Diese Wendungen sollen hier kontrastiv anhand des Sprachenpaars Deutsch–Französisch untersucht werden. Nach einem kurzen sprachgeschichtlichen Rückblick wird eine semantische und syntaktische Klassifikation der derzeit häufigsten Phraseme und Phrasemklassen auf der Grundlage ihrer Hauptmerkmale vorgelegt. Schließlich wird nach möglichen Ursachen für die unterschiedliche Aktivität dieses Phrasemtyps in den beiden Sprachen gefragt.Idioms such as German einen kippen, jemandem eine runterhauen and French s'en jeter un, en mettre une à quelqu'un are characterized by the fact that the meaning of the indefinite pronoun may not be inferred either anaphorically or cataphorically. What is complicating the matter for non-native speakers is that grammars and standard works generally give only little consideration to these colloquial or vulgar expressions. In this article, the use of this type of idioms in German and French will be analysed in a contrastive approach. After briefly looking at earlier uses of these idioms in both languages, the presently most frequent idioms and classes of idioms will be classified on the basis of their main semantic and syntactic features. This type of idioms appears to be more frequent in German than in French. In conclusion, possible reasons for this will be discussed

No full textInternational audienceCette étude est consacrée au passage du prénom au nom commun en allemand et en français et aux mots qui en résultent, les « déonomastiques de prénoms » tels que Metze ‘prostituée’, Hanswurst ‘guignol’, catin et jean-foutre. Couvrant la période du XIIe au XXIe siècle, ce travail repose sur une importante base de données, les items étant issus pour l’essentiel de dictionnaires historiques. Il fait d’abord le point sur l’état de la recherche relative aux déonomastiques en allemand et en français, sur la notion de « prototype du déonomastique de prénom » et sur les aspects sémantiques propres à ce type de mots. L’auteur dégage ensuite les principaux facteurs linguistiques et extralinguistiques qui ont pu favoriser l’émergence d’une signification lexicale, avant de classer les items collectés de manière à faire apparaître deux caractéristiques particulièrement nettes de ces déonomastiques, à savoir la forte polysémie et la tendance à la péjoration. En conclusion, le travail présente quelques réflexions à propos de l’évolution, passée et présente, de ce phénomène linguistique bien particulier qu’est l’appellativisation du prénom dans les deux langues
Normes de l’écrit vs normes de l’oral: le cas de la communication par tchat en français et en allemand
No full textInternational audienceDepuis une quinzaine d'années, on constate un intérêt croissant de la part des chercheurs pour les nouvelles formes de communication, notamment la « communication par chat » (par la suite : CC). Quel que soit leur ancrage disciplinaire, les travaux touchent tous, de près ou de loin, à la question de la spécificité de la CC, à savoir son statut entre oralité et écriture. C'est par le biais des normes d'usage que j'aborderai cette question en me concentrant sur l'influence qu'exerce cette forme de communication sur les pratiques d'écriture. Partant, je considère que les « normes d'écriture » dans la CC sont constituées à partir des contraintes et des libertés d'expression résultant des conditions de production spécifiques et des visées communicatives des participants. Cette approche permet, d'une part, de mettre l'accent sur des phénomènes linguistiques caractéristiques tout en évitant de raisonner à partir d'une hypothétique norme correspondant au registre dit « standard » ; de l'autre, elle tend à relativiser les craintes des puristes qui ne voient dans ces pratiques communicatives qu’une source supplémentaire favorisant l’illettrisme chez les jeunes et le reflet du « déclin » linguistique et culturel qu’ils croient percevoir
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
