No full textThis thesis deals with the conflict of the main character named Erica Bain, particularly about her internal and external conflict as described in Roderick Taylor dan Bruce A. Taylor’s movie script “The Brave One”.
The aims of this thesis are to explain the causal factor of conflict experienced by the main character, Erica Bain and to analyze the internal and external conflicts of Erica Bain in the movie script “The Brave One” written by Roderick Taylor dan Bruce A. Taylor. In writing this thesis, the writer used two methods: exponential and psychological methods. Exponential approach was applied to analyze the character, setting, theme and conflict. Meanwhile, the psychological approach especially Florence Littauer’s theory of plus personality was used to analyze the personality of Erica Bain.
The result of this thesis shows that Erica is a strong woman because she is able to face her real life and against her sadness when the conflicts falls on her. In the movie script “The Brave One”, Erica experiences two conflicts; those are internal and external conflict. The effect of the two conflicts has caused Erica to be a new person. Therefore, revenge is a way used by Erica to survive from the hardship that fall on her

No full textErica Rand is a professor of Arts and Visual Culture at Bates College, an adult figure skater, author and activist. This is a follow-up interview to her previous interview for Querying the Past in 2017. Erica Rand was heavily involved with ACT- UP Portland and more specifically the branch of ACT UP called: Pissed Off Dyke Cell and Women’s Health Action Crew. But more recently she has been involved with a new form of activism through sports and writing. The artist as researcher : a narrative case study of Lead Pencil Studio
No full texttextThis thesis is a narrative case study that examined the studio art practice of Lead Pencil Studio, a Seattle-based artist collaborative that explore our spatial relationships with architecture through site-specific installations. The case study specifically focused on the work of Daniel Mihalyo and Annie Han (Lead Pencil Studio) while they were at the Visual Arts Center in The University of Texas at Austin for a spring 2013 artist-in-residence program.
The research focused specifically on the artists’ day-to-day process, examining the thoughts and actions that went into creating their work, Diffuse Reflection Lab, a two-story plywood structure that examined reflection’s effect on architecture through various vignettes. Through concentrated observations of the Lead Pencil Studio’s work and three semi-structured interviews, this thesis examined how traditional research practices are integrated into the studio art process. By examining the art/research relationship the author also situates this work in the field of practice-based research.
While this work specifically focused on the research conducted by a pair of professional artists, it also extends to a broader argument about the role of research in art lessons. Since this thesis is based in art education, it connects the themes observed in the artists’ studio practice to interdisciplinary learning and arts integration. The author ultimately argues that Lead Pencil Studio’s art/research practice can be used in the classroom as an example of transdisciplinary learning and that it models a rigorous approach to creativity within other disciplines.Art Educatio

No full textWhat explains contemporary intra-party dissent on EU issues? This article develops a cleavage theory model of internal party dissent over European integration. Drawing on Lipset and Rokkan’s classic model of political cleavages and on its applications to party positioning on European integration, I argue that if one seeks to understand when, where, and to what extent internal divisions manifest themselves, one must look to the particular historical vulnerabilities of political parties. Using expert survey data, I demonstrate that the ease with which political parties are able to assimilate the issue of European integration is influenced by the legacy of past political tensions and the extent to which the economic and political aspects of the EU reactivate pre-existing cleavages
