    Using green human resource management practices to achieve green performance: Evidence from Italian manufacturing context

    The effect of green human resource management (GHRM) practices on employees' environmental engagement, attitudes, and behaviors is well-known. What is less known is which GHRM practices can have a positive influence on achieving green performance through the mediating role played by people's engagement. To address the research gaps, this study used mixed-method research design. In Phase 1, this study focused on the advanced manufacturing context of Italy by surveying 540 managers to develop a multiple regression model and test six different GHRM practices as the hypotheses. In Phase 2, qualitative data analysis was analyzed. Our findings highlighted that GHRM practices connected with awards and compensations did not affect green performance. Conversely, a correlation was observed between achieving green performance and practices such as training, aligning management with the company's strategic environmental goals and objectives, involving managers in the process of defining the goals and objectives, and the green reputation of the company and the managers who can act as environmentally responsible leaders. This study extends social exchange theory and opens new avenues for further research and proposes several practical suggestions for practitioners

    Mixture reliability analysis of a product consisting of new and remanufactured components

    Purpose - The rapid increase in importance of the remanufacturing operation in the present scenario is just because of its ability to retrieve the functional value of the End-of-Use or End-of-Life products which is as good as the original product. However, customers are still concerned about the reliability of the remanufactured product which is considered as one of the major problems in the area of remanufacturing. The purpose of this paper is to study and analyse the behavioural pattern of the mixture failure rate of a remanufactured product. Design/methodology/approach - In order to analyse the behavioural pattern of the mixture failure rate, different proportions of new and remanufactured products are mixed. In this paper, a two-parameter Weibull distribution is used to observe the mixture failure rate characteristics. Also, the mixture failure rate of the remanufactured product is evaluated under two conditions, that is when the shape parameter of new and remanufactured components is the same and when the shape parameter values are different. Findings - From the analysis, it is observed that the mixture failure rate is always decreasing in nature when the shape parameter values are same. In that case, the value of the mixture failure rate depends only on the proportion of the new components. When the shape parameter values are different, the mixture failure rate characteristics depend upon the shape parameter value of the remanufactured product. Originality/value - The results of the research can be applied to any remanufactured automotive product. This study also shows the behavioural characteristics of the mixture failure rate of a remanufactured product at different mixture proportions

    Building Sustainable Supply Chain Resilience: Insights From a Mixed‐Method Study

    Growing concerns regarding climate change and extreme weather events have spurred heightened interest among supply chain professionals, researchers, and policymakers, leading to increased focus on supply chain resilience. This study aims to develop a model specifically geared toward enhancing supply chain endurance and contribute to the ongoing debate on supply chain resilience. Employing a mixed-method approach, the research initially utilizes the qualitative methodology to delineate the facets of supply chain endurance. Subsequently, through a multiple cross-sectional survey design, the study empirically examines the relationship between supply chain endurance, a firm's supply chain resilience, and community resilience. The results engender discussions on fortifying firms' supply chain endurance by cultivating adaptive leadership, adaptability, visibility, flexibility, collaboration, redundancy, and conditioning. This research underscores the significance of nurturing supply chain endurance capabilities in bolstering a firm's sustainable supply chain resilience and the resilience of the broader community

    Building digital technology and innovative lean management capabilities for enhancing operational performance: an empirical study

    The study examines the direct effect of digital technology capability on innovative lean management capability and the indirect effect on operational performance. We considered continuous learning as a moderator, such that continuous learning could influence the relationships (i.e. digital technology capability and innovative lean management capability). We considered the overall satisfaction of employees as a moderator and empirically tested the relationships. The theoretical model was conceptualised by keeping the dynamic capability view in mind. The samples for the online survey were selected from food supply chain (FSC) firms. Hypothesis testing was performed and findings indicate that lower-order capabilities, such as adaptability, agility, and alignment capabilities, play a critical role in developing dynamic capability, that is, digital technology capability, which helps in achieving superior operational performance. However, innovative lean management capability plays a partial mediation role between digital technology capability and operational performance. A moderating role for continuous learning and overall satisfaction of employees was also supported. FSC firms should consider these factors to enhance operational performance in a dynamic business environment

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 combination: scoping review and perspectives

    The current market is characterised by a high level of customisation, leading to aggressive competition between companies to respond to customer needs. To keep their competitiveness, companies search continually to improve their efficiency, flexibility, and performance. With the advent of Industry 4.0 (I4.0), new technologies are developed to increase connectivity and automate processes. Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is known for its capacity to solve complex problems using statistical methods. I4.0 affects almost everything including LSS. Thus, a new combination is emerging LSS4.0 aiming at further increasing the operational excellence for companies. Therefore, the aim of this paper, as the first scoping review in this field, is to present the results of existing studies on the LSS and I4.0 integration, find the gaps in the literature, and provide directions for future studies. The paper proposes a framework that categorises the findings into three main discussed directions, which are relationship, implementation, and impact on performance
