Sammy Cowan
This 1961 photograph, taken by Asheville Citizen-Times photographer Ewart McKinley Ball, Jr. (1918-1966), shows Sammy Cowan singing. Founder and director of the Mountain Youth Jamboree, Hubert H. Hayes (1901-1964) auditioned and directed youth to perform in folk dance, music, and folk and ballad singing. The jamboree was held in the Asheville City Auditorium (now known as Thomas Wolfe Auditorium) from 1948 to 1973, and Hayes’ wife, Leona Trantham Hayes (1913-1989) continued to direct the program after his death in 1964. Hubert Hayes was an author, playwright, and alumni of Duke University

<i>Chorismus antarcticus</i> (Pfeffer, 1887) <p> A circum-Antarctic benthic shelf species (0–915 m), reaching South Georgia, the Falkland Islands and Southern Patagonia (Holthuis 1952; Garth <i>et al.</i> 1967; Ledoyer 1989; Komai <i>et al.</i> 1996), although possibly confused with <i>C. tuberculatus</i> in sub-Antarctic areas. Biological differences were observed between populations from South Georgia and the Weddell Sea (Gorny <i>et al.</i> 1992). A very common species, with a preference for bottoms rich in epifauna (personal observations of the first author). Synonym: <i>Hippolyte romanchei</i> A. INFORMATION AND LANGUAGE FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
Information and Language for Effective Communication (ILEC) is a language teaching approach emphasizing learners’ extensive exposure in different language communicative sources. In ILEC, the language learners will first receive instructions of ILEC principles and application. Afterwards, they will receive autonomous, direct, purposeful, and intensive Input Exposure in particular source/s of information. This will be followed by an Output exposure, in which language learners are engaged in classroom actual discussion in English, analyzing information they have collected before. This article investigates the gradual development of learners’ speaking fluency after undergoing autonomous exposure, which the author used as an effective English teaching innovation for the multi-level second language learners
