Subsidence in the Eastern Po Plain (Italy)
Vengono presentati i risultati di uno studio multidisciplinare sullo studio del fenomeno della subsidenza, nella pianura padana orientale
Movimenti verticali del suolo nella Pianura Padana orientale desumibili dai dati IGM fino a tutto il 1990
Between the surveys carried out in the 1970s and the most recent ones, the phenomenon has diminished markedly in the whole of the area in Veneto, in the eastern part of the province of Ferrara and in the coastal strip of Romagna. In contrast there has been a notable increase in Bologna and its province (at Castelmaggiore is exceeds 10 cm/year) and between Forlimpopoli and Forli; slight increases were also recorded in the central part of the province of Ferrara. The most marked subsidence occurs in the areas which have been recently industrialised and this can be interpreted as the effect of excessive drainage of groundwater. The synoptic consideration of the movements recorded in the whole network means that it is possible to make some general observations on the influence of the geological situation on the subsidence; in particular it highlights a general coincidence between the marked velocity of subsidence in some zones and notable thicknesses of loose Quaternary and Pliocene sediments
Experimental Assessment of Gas Static Meters under Different Operating Conditions
This paper compares the metrological performance of a sample of commercial domestic/residential smart meters for natural gas (G4). In particular, the performance degradation of electronic static and dynamic gas meters has been evaluated. The sample was composed by ultrasonic gas meters, thermal mass meters and diaphragm gas meters. The tests, performed on the gas meters, reproduce the most severe operating conditions (i.e. filed test) such as the influence of the gas composition, the temperature difference between gas and meter, the gas humidity and the presence of dust in the gas. Furthermore, the meters have been undergo to some endurance tests such as start and stop and to the high flowrate runs
Geomorphological aspects, with environmental implications.
This chapter treats some applicational subjects) partly described in preceding chapters) with particular emphasis on geomorphological hazards due to both natural processes and human activities. The former essentially regard seismicity) subsidence) and fluvial and marine processes (flooding, beach erosion) storm surges). Risks due to antbropic activities are mainly linked to urban expansion) operations on watercourses and coastlines) quarrying, pumping of grounduiaters, and exploitation of hydrocarbon deposits
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
