Nodular fasciitis: Dermo-hypodermal type. A case report
A case of nodular fasciitis is described. The lesion was located on the right cheek of a 20-year old girl. Histologically the lesion was characterized by an uncapsulated nodule within the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue; it consisted of bundles of spindle and stellate fibroblasts arranged in a loosely intercellular matrix and of proliferation of small capillaries at the edges of the nodule. Moreover problems of differential diagnosis due to the unusual site and unusual clinical aspect are discussed

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Eruptive vellus hair cysts
The paper reports the case of a 22-year-old male patient who had presented numerous bilateral aphlegmatic papules on his face and ear's helix, some of which were umbilicated, for the past 5-6 years. Two biopsies revealed a cystic cavity with a dermal localisation surrounded by a squamous-type epithelium. The cysts contained keratinic material and vellus hair shafts cut crosswise. The epidermis did not reveal any alterations, nor was there any inflammatory-type infiltrate in the dermis. On the basis of clinical and histological data non-familial eruptive vellus hair cysts (sporadic form) were diagnosed. The authors take account of the possible differential diagnoses regarding both clinical and histological factors and the response to retinoid therapy used both topically and systemically
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Comparison between computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in the postoperative evaluation of acromegalic patients
Twelve acromegalic patients who underwent transphenoidal resection of a GH-secreting pituitary adenoma were evaluated postoperatively by Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR). CT and MR findings were compared with surgical and clinical results. MR was more accurate than CT in delineating postoperative abnormalities of the infundibulum, diaphragma sellae and optic chiasm. In three cases MR differentiated packing materials from adenomatous tissue. In cases with biochemical evidence of residual or recurrent tumor, MR clearly demonstrated intra- or extrasellar adenomatous tissue and the spatial relationship between the soft tissue mass and the cavernous sinuses. CT was superior to MR only in demonstrating sellar floor disruption. MR imaging detected the anatomical causes of clinical abnormalities in almost all acromegalic patients with incomplete recovery after surgery. On the basis of MR results it is possible to plan additional surgery, radiation therapy or medical treatment. MR may be the radiological procedure of choice for both surgical treatment planning and postoperative follow-up
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Inheritance of Jurassic rifted margin architecture into the Apennines Neogene mountain building: a case history from the Lucretili Mts. (Latium, Central Italy)
The western Lucretili Mts. in the central Apennines (Latium, Italy) have been recently re-mapped in great detail and are the subject of combined stratigraphic, sedimentological and structural investigations. In this paper, we present a new stratigraphic interpretation of the Jurassic paleogeography of western Lucretili Mts., where a rift-derived intrabasinal paleo-high of the Alpine Tethys has been identified for the first time by means of facies analysis and biostratigraphic dating. Recognised facies associations, combined with dated stratigraphic sections, allow to define the morphology of the structural paleo-high and to identify the associated gravity-driven deposits (olistoliths) accumulated in the surrounding basin. Furthermore, we investigated the modes of interaction between Jurassic extensional structures and the subsequent contractional patterns developed during the Tertiary mountain building. In detail, the role played during Apennines tectonics by the paleo-escarpments bounding the paleo-high and by the surrounding olistoliths has been analysed. The paleo-escarpments either acted as focussing features for ENE-directed frontal thrust ramp localisation and were offset with small shortening amounts or reactivated as NNE striking high angle transpressional faults or preserved the original geometries as a result of variable orientation of paleo-escarpments with respect to the Neogene compressive stress field (with ENE oriented sigma1). Newly formed ENE striking tear faults connect these either inherited or neo-formed discontinuities. This complex stratigraphic and structural pattern is substantially different from the previous interpretations of this portion of the central Apennines based on a hypothesised layer-cake stratigraphy deformed by neo-formed Neogene thrusts. This contribution strengthens the importance of integrating facies analyses and structural investigations to detect the influence of pre-orogenic structures on compressive structural patterns, in an area where commercial seismic lines are not available and cannot help in reconstructing the subsurface geometries. © 2011 Springer-Verlag
