No full textL’articolo analizza la traduzione realizzata da Giorgio Bassani de La capanna indiana di Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre e pubblicata nella raccolta curata da Michele Rago, Romanzi francesi dei secoli XVII e XVIII (Milano, Bompiani, 1951).
Avvalendoci delle nozioni della traduttologia, ma sempre tenendo ben presente l’attività di scrittore di Bassani, cercheremo innanzitutto di comprendere le motivazioni che lo hanno spinto alla traduzione e poi ci concentreremo sulla pratica di traduttore. L’analisi prenderà quindi in esame aspetti linguistici (il grado di “fedeltà” al francese dell’originale) ma anche culturali (i meccanismi di adattamento ai diversi contesti geografici e temporali adottati da Bassani per presentare al pubblico italiano degli anni Cinquanta un romanzo della fine del XVIII secolo). Sono infine verificate importanti tangenze tra il Bassani traduttore di Bernardin de Saint-Pierre e il Bassani narratore che dimostrano come si possa parlare di una "capanna ferrarese" per il giardino dei Finzi-Contini.

No full textpeer reviewedThis paper analyses the translation of Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre's 'La chaumière indienne' by Giorgio Bassani, published in the an edited book by Michele Rago, 'Romanzi francesi dei secoli XVII e XVIII' (Milan, Bompiani, 1951). Through an unpublished correspondence between Bassani and Vittorini, the essay first reconstructs the cultural context of this translation work and then moves on to a stylistic analysis of the translated work. Bassani does not limit himself to a simple and correct semantic transposition, but he is careful to reproduce the style of the Enlightenment writer, coming to grasp the narrative strategy of the source text. The last part of the article focuses on the similarities between Bassani translator and narrator, demonstrating how the Italian translation of 'La capanna indiana' left an echo in 'Il giardino dei Finzi-Contini'
The via Annia in Padua: Digital Narratives for a Roman Consular Road
No full textA new collaboration between Iuav University of Venice and the Musei Civici of Padua was introduced in 2021 as part of the activities of research and teaching of Iuav University. Its aim is the study and the enhancement of finds preserved at the Archaelogical Museum of Padua. This collaboration has also given the opportunity to carry out a series of research on matters related to Padua as a roman city and its urban developments, and on some artefacts preserved in the city Museum. The supervisors of this collaboration are Maddalena Bassani and Giuseppe D’Acunto, professors at Iuav University of Venice, and Francesca Veronese, director of the archaeological section of the Musei Civici of Padua. In the following paragraphs, we present the first outcomes of this collaboration, which has been particularly promising on several levels. First of all, it has been a fruitful opportunity for Iuav scholars involved in this project to approach pragmatically the urban and architectural becoming of one of the most important cities of the Roman period of the Veneto region. Secondly, it has enabled to go to the Museum, appreciate the exhibitions, and to face the problems linked to the graphic restitution of finds and ancient environments. This project has also lain the foundations for further collaborations between Iuav University and the Musei Civici with the aim to encourage the knowledge of an already known – but only partly visible – past, and to make the general public appreciate it

Reorientational transition and stripe domains in Co films
No full textWe have grown, by sputtering, Co films on (1 1 1) Si substrate, with the aim to find the critical thickness of the reorientational
transition of the magnetization from the plane to out of the plane as the hcp axis is oriented perpendicular to the film. Stripe Domains (SD) by Magnetic Force Microscopy, characteristic signature of Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy, have been found only in samples grown in some series while samples grown with the same growth parameters do not show stripe domains, indicating an in-plane orientation of the magnetization. These apparently controversial results will be explained in terms of the system fundamental parameters, magnetization, exchange stiffness constant and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of the sample, which play a crucial role especially in Co films

No full textOriginariamente collocato nel cortile dell’Ospedale Grande e Nuovo in Palazzo Sclafani, il Trionfo della morte – ora custodito nella Galleria di Palazzo Abatellis, a Palermo – è una straordinaria enciclopedia iconografica medievale e moderna, di cui non conosciamo l’autore.
Il libro di Michele Cometa è una guida all’interpretazione del tessuto narrativo di questo formidabile affresco. Le molteplici fonti pittoriche e letterarie che ne costituiscono la trama convergono nel tratteggiare – evocando la peste nera che imperversava in Europa da più di un secolo – una sorta di confutazione iconologica del retribuzionismo medievale.
